KETEREH
Ketereh is a small town in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia. It is about 20km from Kota
Baharu which is the capital city of Kelantan.The town is got its name from the fruit of cashew
nuts which is called buah ketereh. Ketereh have an area of 204.9 square kilometers. It is
located along the Kuala Krai-Kota Bharu road. In 2007,the community is made up of 145022
people and still growing larger in this year.

Waste management
Managing waste in a small town always become a big issue in Malaysia.Some of the waste
still goes straight to the landfill or incinerated by the locals. Recycling rate is still under the
Malaysian goal in 2020s that is to achieve recycling rate by 20%.
Encouraging waste reduction and re-use,together with the promotion of home
composting and curbside recycling schemes
Environmental educations in schools and the promotion of more sustainable
waste management
Reduce public consumption of products by raising awareness about the impact
on finite natural resources and habitats.
The volume of waste produced will be reduced.
The volume of waste incinerated will be reduced by raising the waste
recycling ratio.
Food wastes will be reduced as much as possible.






Public transportation system
Public transport are used by the locals to travel around but only in a small portion of the
community. They tend to use their private transport because of the unreliability of the system.
Delay in time and often broke down can increase the travel time of user. There are no special
lane for active transport such as bicycle lane.

Ecosystem
There are some green area that are untouched by the humans yet. Here the wild animals still
lives in their natural habitat. In a near time, the green space will be reduced due to make way
for construction.

Ensuring shadowy area and creating recreational place



Urban Planning
Planning of new structure or facilities must be done according to the development plan .
Basic facilities and environmental capacity will be considered during reconstruction
projects.






Air
Motor vehicle users emits smokes and carbon to the air.The air pollution is increasing slowly
to this area.
Reduce no of vehicles on road,use public transport
Installing the smoke screening to the motorist
Smoke level will be reduced

Water
The river is polluted by the rubbish. People still dumping rubbish into the river and turning
them into their own big rubbish bin. People should be made aware of this because water plays
a pivotal role in our life. They should conserve the natural water resource for the future use
and to avoid water scarce during the drought period.
The water quality will improved
Natural environment of streams will be restored
