1 Abstract
This document instructs engineers how to perform the Base Band Hopping audit.
2 Purpose
This document aims to standardize the operation procedure of Path-Balance Judgment
1. Link balance Equations
2. Counters used for path-balance Judgment
3. Judgment Criteria
4. Normal Balance Trend
5. Weak UL Trend
6. Weak DL Trend
7. Misleading Case

Operating Instructions
2.1 Link Balance Equations:
UL/DL Path balance difference = UL path loss - DL path loss = (MS real transmit
power-UL Rx_Lev) - (BTS cabinet output power-DL Rx_Lev).
BTS cabinet output power=TRX power-static power class*2 + Power fine tuning -
Combiner loss - DL dynamic PC level*2 + dynamic PBT gain
2.2 Counters used for path-balance Judgment
The below counters define the balance status of the TRX into 11 levels and the balance should be around
level 6
The levels below level 6 indicates the status of the UL
The levels above level 6 indicates the status of the DL
Level 1 Indicates that the UL > DL by 15
Level 1 Indicates that the DL > UL by 15

2.3 Judgment Criteria
The criteria used to judge if the TRX is Balance or not is as following:

1- `Shape of the graph should be centered on Level 6
2- Sum of Levels (1 + 2) should be Less Than 20 % from the total value of Levels 1 to 11 (around the
20 %)
3- Sum of Levels (10 + 11) should be Less Than 25 % from the total value of Levels 1 to 11 (around the
25 %)

2.4 Normal Trend for Path-Balance
The Normal Trend of the balance means that the measurement should be around level 6 as shown below

TRX Path-Balance Check Confidentiality:

2.5 Weak DL Trend for Path-Balance
Weak DL means that the measurement of the UL Level counters is higher than the DL counters (Levels 1+2
is Higher than 20 % from the total Measurement)

2.6 Weak UL Trend for Path-Balance
Weak DL means that the measurement of the DL Level counters is higher than the UL counters (Levels
10+11 is Higher than 25 % from the total Measurement)

2.7 Misleading Case for Path-Balance
In the below case the measurement of Levels 10+11 is 22% which is good and accepted but from the TRX
chart we can see that the TRX suffers from Weak-UL status as shown below

So the conclusion from this case is that:

1- Percentage is just an indication to determine the worst cases
2- The judgment must be done for case by case specially for the TRXs with percentage around 20% for
both UL/DL indicators (Levels 1+2 or Level 10+11)
