Duration: Six month consulting contract, starting as soon as possible, with optional transition to full time status past that period.

Job Description: Consulting position as Project Manager for the new Kay Plant business being run by the Smallholder Farmers Alliance (SFA) in Gonaives. Kay Plant will provide a range of products and services currently not being provided for farmers and area residents. It will launch with an Agricultural Marketing & Supplies division that will provide farmers with seeds and tools, along with help in marketing their crops. Over the course of the next six months, three more components will be added: a commercial Bakery will produce bread and rolls, with women farmers as franchise agents; a Wholesale Food division will offer bulk food items at wholesale prices to women farmers who sell food to earn off-farm income; and, a Mill will provide a service to husk rice, sorghum and maize for farmers selling these grains in local markets. The Project Manager will initially be responsible for the day to day operations of the Agricultural Marketing & Supplies component, and then subsequently that person will oversee additional staff being brought on to undertake day to day operations for each of the other three components.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a working knowledge of agriculture in Haiti, as well as a background in managing a business. The individual must have experience in overseeing staff and be competent in managing excel-based budgets. A background in agricultural marketing will be an asset. Must be willing to live in Gonaives.
Accommodation: The Project Manager will be provided with a modest furnished room in Gonaives.
Employer: The Smallholder Farmers Alliance is a Haitian foundation using charitable funds to transform small-scale (or "smallholder") farmers into independent agroforestry cooperatives run on organic principles and with a triple bottom line: planting trees, increasing food production and improving farm livelihoods. Kay Plant is affiliated with the existing SFA Gonaives Cooperative that has 2,000 farmer-members.

Description du poste : consultant de gestion de projet pour la nouvelle entreprise Kay Plant gr aux Gonaves par l'union des petits exploitants agricoles (SFA = Smallholder Farmers Alliance). Kay Plant fournira une gamme de produits et de services qui ne sont pas actuellement fournis aux agriculteurs et aux rsidents de la rgion. La nouvelle entreprise dmarrera avec une division de marketing et de fournitures agricoles qui offrira aux agriculteurs des semences et des outils, ainsi qu'une aide la commercialisation de leurs rcoltes. Au cours des six mois prochains trois autres units seront ajoutes : une boulangerie commerciale produira du pain et des petits pains, avec les agricultrices en agentes franchises ; une division alimentaire de gros offrira des produits en vrac des prix de gros pour les agricultrices qui vendront des aliments pour avoir un revenu d'appoint ; et, un moulin qui permettra aux agriculteurs de dcortiquer les grains de riz, de sorgho ou de mas avant de les vendre sur les marchs locaux. Au dbut, le chef de projet sera responsable des oprations courantes de la partie marketing et fournitures des produits agricoles, et ensuite il supervisera le personnel supplmentaire recrut pour effectuer des oprations courantes dans chacune des trois autres units.
Qualifications requises : Les candidats doivent avoir une connaissance pratique de l'agriculture, ainsi que de l'exprience en gestion d'entreprise. Le postulant doit avoir de l'exprience dans la supervision du personnel et tre comptent dans la gestion des budgets calculs sur Excel. Une formation en marketing agricole sera un atout. Il doit tre prt vivre aux Gonaves.
Hbergement : on fournira au chef de projet une chambre meuble simple aux Gonaves.
L'employeur : la SFA est une fondation hatienne utilisant des fonds de bienfaisance destins grouper les petits agriculteurs en coopratives agro-forestires indpendantes, utilisant des mthodes bio avec un triple objectif : plantation d'arbres, augmentation de la production alimentaire et accroissement des revenus des agriculteurs. L'entreprise Kay Plant est affilie la cooprative existante SFA des Gonaves qui compte 2 000 membres agriculteurs.
