Conclusion............................................................................................................................ 35 3 Chapter 1: Introduction Unless you've been living under a rock recently, you've deIinitely heard oI the website Iiverr.com. You probably know Fiverr as the website where people do crazy things Ior $5. No doubt you have seen their advertisements telling you all the things you can buy Ior $5. II the thought oI selling anything on Fiverr has crossed your mind, it's probably accompanied with 'Seriously, who would be crazy (or stupid) enough to do any oI this stuII Ior only 5 measly dollars?! Well I'm here to show you that you can earn A LOT more than $5 on Fiverr. You can earn over $2,000 a month working Irom home AND doing what you love. I had my doubts when I joined Fiverr. My brother told me about Fiverr aIter getting a logo designed and I thought it would be a Iun experiment to see iI I could sell anything. I was working a 9-5 job at the time and Iigured it couldn't hurt to bring in some extra money. I created my Iirst gig and it sold exactly zero times. I was skeptical. What a waste oI time. I made a gig and no one wanted to buy it! This website is a joke! Rather than deleting my account right away, I decided to give it another shot. I created my second gig just to see what would happen. The second gig I created on Fiverr is still one oI my top sellers. It laid the Ioundation Ior Iuture successIul gigs and helped me develop a 5 step Iormula Ior success no matter what category you're selling in. This Iormula is simple and will allow you to make some serious money on Fiverr doing something you love to do. Most people out there telling you how to make money on Fiverr actually haven't made much money on Fiverr. Would you take dieting advice Irom someone who is overweight? Probably not. Would you take business advice Irom someone who's gone bankrupt? I would hope not. So why try to learn about making money on Fiverr Irom someone who hasn't actually done it? How did my Iirst 3 months look on Fiverr? As you can see, aIter joining Fiverr on March18 th , 2012 it took me one month to get promoted to a Level 1 seller, two months to get promoted to a Level 2 seller, and three months and two days to be hand-selected as a Top Rated Seller on Fiverr. Looking at the above Iigure you can see that within 2 months on Fiverr (3/20-5/20) I transIerred $997 to my Bank Account. For the Iirst month, I made money ONLY selling $5 gigs. For anyone who hasn't made any money online, there is no bigger thrill than making your Iirst dollar working Irom home. I can tell you that iI you Iollow my Iormula, you'll 4 make a lot more than that Iirst dollar! One year aIter joining Fiverr, my monthly income transIers look a little diIIerent than they did when I Iirst joined. AIter months oI hard work and well-documented trial and error, I developed a system that helped me make more and more money on Fiverr. At the time oI this writing, here's a look at my last 60 days oI PayPal transIers. As you can see Irom March 1 st , 2013 to May 1 st , 2013 I transIerred $6,210 to my PayPal Account Irom Fiverr. The income I've earned Irom Fiverr has allowed me to move across the country and has given me extra income while starting up a new business. It has given me the Ireedom to make extra income working Irom home doing what I love! At the time I'm writing this, I have 1 gig on Fiverr with over 400 Positive Feedbacks, 1 gig with over 360 positive Ieedbacks, 1 gig with over 280 positive Ieedbacks, 1 gig with over 100 positive Ieedbacks, and 1 gig with over 60 positive Ieedbacks. My Iormula hasn't worked on just one gig, It has worked on numerous gigs and I want to share my secrets with you. This book won't explain what a gig is or how to sign up Ior a Fiverr account. It doesn't have any unnecessary Iiller. It's a simple step by step blueprint that tells you exactly what you need to do in order to succeed on Fiverr. Whether you're a Level 2 seller looking to make it to the top or brand new to Fiverr looking to make an impact, this book has something Ior you. This book oIIers a strategically Iormed process oI steps that shows you how you can use Fiverr as a way to make some serious income doing something you love. This book has the potential to change how you live your liIe and how you make your money. Enjoy this book and iI you take it seriously, and you'll be making money online working Irom home and, most importantly, doing what you love! 5 Chapter 2: My First Gig Vs. My Second My Big Mistake: My First Gig When I created my Iirst gig on Fiverr, I created a gig that ! thought was cool. It was something ! would buy. II ! thought it was cool, then surely the rest oI the world would think it was cool too! My Iirst gig was selling drum beats. I put all I knew into making sure it would work. I did my keyword research on Google to make sure that there was a demand Ior it and searched around Fiverr and saw that no one oIIered it. PerIect! I was set Ior my Iirst gig to be huge! The $5 orders would come pouring in. I was worried it would conIlict with my 9-5 job. I envisioned creating drum beats on my laptop during my lunch break. I had the perIect title. I careIully craIted all oI my samples and put them into a video. I Iilled out my gig description. I was set to sell thousands oI drum beats... As I previously mentioned, my Iirst gig sold exactly zero times. How was this possible? I did my research and I knew that there was a market Ior drum beats. There are tons oI musicians out there who need and buy drum beats. How was it possible no one was buying my gig?! $5 is a steal oI a deal to get a customized drum beat. Fiverr can't be legitimate iI no one bought this... In truth it was 100 my Iault my gig didn't sell. I knew there was a market Ior my oIIering...but that market wasn't on Fiverr. Rather than give up, I decided to give it one more shot. The Breakthrough: My Second Gig II I wasn't going to sell tons oI gigs on Fiverr, I Iigured I might as well oIIer something that I liked doing. I love songwriting so I oIIered a gig to write a song. I didn't care that there were a million other uses on Fiverr that oIIered songs. I wasn't careIul with my descriptions and titles. I made my video Iunny. I mocked last minute birthday giIts and guys breaking up with their girlIriends. I played silly songs in numerous diIIerent genres in my video. Even iI I didn't sell anything I was determined to have Iun making my video. AIter a Iew days I had all but Iorgotten completely about my gig on Fiverr. That's when something happened...I received an email! 'Congrats! You just got an order. I got an order! I made my Iirst sale on Fiverr. I Ielt so accomplished! Someone liked what I had to oIIer. They liked it so much they were willing to spend $5 on it. I Ielt so accomplished. I started running scenarios through my head. II I can sell one gig per day...That will be close to an extra $2,000 this year! When I got home Irom work, I rushed to my computer. I got all oI my recording gear set up. I started writing and recording the song. It took me about 2 hours. I had to make sure everything was perIect. I delivered the song by accident through a message so I had to re-deliver it through the delivery system. I did it! I was technically a proIessional songwriter. I made money online. I worked Irom 6 home. Everything I had always wanted to do. I was raking in the dough making a whopping $2.50 an hour. When I logged back in aIter delivering, I saw my Iirst positive Ieedback. It was a giant green thumbs up and it said 'That was awesome! Great job bro! What other genres do you do?. Getting a positive Ieedback was even more thrilling than getting that Iirst order. Not only did someone want to buy something Irom ME, they thought it was awesome! Over the next couple oI days, I received a Iew more orders. I completed these and got more positive Ieedback. I was doing it. My gig was selling on Fiverr. I spent about an hour doing each song so I was getting more eIIicient with my time. I was going to be a super star on Fiverr in no time. As a couple oI weeks went by I started to notice a pattern within the orders and the Ieedback/messages I was getting Irom diIIerent buyers. The Iirst was people telling me they Ielt my gig was such a great deal. The second thing I noticed was buyers asking me iI I could do other things related to my gig. Could I do diIIerent genres or longer songs or use diIIerent instruments? I started taking notes and documenting every interaction I had on Fiverr. I wanted to see exactly what buyers were looking Ior and how I could give it to them. I began noticing patterns. I noticed buyers returned more when I delivered gigs Iaster. I started oIIering 24 hour express delivery. My sales jumped immediately. II someone is going to make an impulse buy on Fiverr, they're going to want something back as soon as possible. This wasn't always Iun, especially with a Iull-time job. I would do my Fiverr's when I got home Irom work. II I was tired or didn't Ieel like doing it, I still had to. I viewed Fiverr like a business. You need to make sacriIices at the beginning to succeed in the long run. At the beginning it isn't always easy to make money on Fiverr, but it is simple. II you can handle the little headaches at the beginning, you'll have a bigger payoII in the end. Climbing the Seller Ladder Exactly a month aIter I joined Fiverr, I was promoted to a Level 1 seller. To be promoted to a Level 1 seller you need to be active on the site Ior 30 days and complete at least 10 orders. You need to get positive ratings on all oI your orders. During my Iirst 30 days, I completed a lot more than 10 orders. The biggest beneIit oI getting promoted to being a Level 1 seller is that you gain access to oIIer gig extras. You also can oIIer express delivery as an extra and buyers can order multiple gigs at one time.
Gig extras are up-sells that a buyer can add on to their order. I immediately started oIIering a video extra similar to what was shown in my sample video Ior $10. I started getting $15 orders instead oI $5 orders. I took notes and noticed who was ordering the larger orders. I was documenting how long it was taking me to do orders. My Iirst order took me about 2 hours to complete. I was now completing $5 orders in about 30 minutes and $15 orders in a little under an hour. I set goals and began experimenting with how to spend less time on each order without sacriIicing quality. I documented each order and started to categorize them. I started noticing who came 7 back Ior more than one order. I started to notice which types oI orders were the most diIIicult. AIter 30 more days, I got promoted to a Level 2 seller. This requires the seller to sell over 50 orders and have all positive Ieedback. Becoming a Level 2 seller oIIers some additional beneIits. I could now oIIer three gig extras and had priority customer support. During this second 30 day period, I had a Iew notable events take place. I made my my Iirst two withdrawals. It was Ior a combined total oI $997. It Ielt awesome. I was on pace to make about $6,000 extra Ior the year on Fiverr. I also experimented with a couple more gigs during this time. The Iirst gig was another that I was sure would sell a ton. I noticed there were a bunch oI voiceover artists on Fiverr that did well so I wanted to take their gig and improve on it. I created a gig oIIering a mock voicemail. It would be a perIect way to deliver a message to your Iriends or a unique way to promote your business. This gig sold zero times. It was Irustrating. ! thought it was cool. It had an awesome intro video. How did it not work?! The other gig I created during that time was based oII oI what users were asking Ior. I had numerous buyers asking me iI I could do songs on the ukulele Ior them. I decided to put up a gig oIIering a song on the ukulele. To this date, it has been my biggest seller. I now had two gigs that were bringing in orders. Listening to buyer demand was my key to creating successIul gigs. It turns out that sometimes your great idea isn't so great aIter all. WHEN YOU CREATE A PRODUCT THAT MEETS A DEMAND, IT'S MUCH EASIER TO SELL. This put my success rate at 50. Two oI my gigs worked and two didn't. I was starting to detect some patterns. I was noticing what type oI buyer was ordering what type oI gig and who was coming back. I paid attention to my gig keywords and changed them to see how it would aIIect sales. Three months and two days aIter joining Fiverr, I was promoted to a Top Rated Seller. Top Rated Sellers are hand picked by Fiverr editors. This is where you can really make some extra money. You can oIIer Iour gig extras Ior up to $100 each and a buyer can order as many as 20 gigs at once. You also get VIP support. During my 32 days between getting promoted Irom Level 2 seller to Top Rated Seller, I really started implementing my Iindings and watched my sales skyrocket. I began looking at other successIul gigs on Fiverr and realized that they all had one thing in common. There was a pattern. There was a Iormula. Every gig was so diIIerent Irom the next but they all Iollowed the same basic Iormula. I started putting together all oI my notes and documents into something that would ensure success. From my pages oI notes, I narrowed it down to Iive guidelines. These Iive guidelines will be discussed in depth in the next chapters in what I call THE TOP RATED SELLER FORMULA. 8 Chapter 3: The Top Rated SeIIer FormuIa II you can create a gig that Ialls within the 5 guidelines I'm going to lay out Ior you, you will succeed on Fiverr no matter what you choose to sell. BeIore I list these 5 steps, let me preIace this with one thing - you will need to make sacriIices when you Iirst start out on Fiverr. View Fiverr as a mini business. As with any business, the beginning is the toughest. You can't get down iI orders don't come in right away. You can't give up iI you only make $5 during your Iirst week. You need to stick with it and be patient. There are a million reasons sellers leave Fiverr and most don't last more than a Iew weeks or a Iew months. This isn't a get rich quick scheme, it's a way to build a steady income Irom home doing something you enjoy. You (probably) won't create a gig and get 20 orders your Iirst day. You might not even get 20 orders your Iirst month. You will need to deal with selling only $5 orders at the beginning until you get bumped up to a Level 1 or Level 2 seller. When you're a Level 1 seller, you can oIIer 2 gig extras plus an express delivery option. When you're a Level 2 seller, you can oIIer 3 gig extras plus an express delivery option. When you are a Top Rated Seller, you can oIIer up to 4 gig extras plus an express delivery option. When you are a new seller all you can oIIer is a $5 gig! At the beginning, you will need to take the hit and only sell $5 gigs. Don't try to get Iancy and make the buyer place numerous orders to make up Ior a lack oI gig extras. This will only complicate their experience and make them less likely to return and buy more. Be patient and stick with it. Once you get bumped up to being a Level 1 seller, there's potential to generate some great income. PUT IN EXTRA TIME AND EFFORT AT THE BEGINNING AND YOU'LL SEE A LARGER RETURN IN THE END. What's Your Passion? In order to make the sacriIices at the beginning as painless as possible it helps to sell something you love doing. Choose a topic you are passionate about. It can include anything you want. From art to singing to business, create a list oI hobbies you love. I recommend opening a Google Document to take down all oI your notes. Don't think about anything other than what "#$ love doing. Try to write down at least 5 passions you have. Once you have your list we'll apply it to the Iormula below. Be as speciIic as possible with what you write. Do you love art? What kind oI art do you like? Are you into drawing? Painting? Graphic Design? Don't worry about how long it will take you to complete something. Don't worry about who would want to buy it. For now just make a list oI topics you love. For each item on your list try to break it down even Iurther. Let's say you're a Yoga teacher with a passion Ior all things Yoga. You could break it down even Iurther like this. I love Yoga 1. I love teaching Yogis at my Yoga Studio 2. I love the way I Ieel when I do Yoga 3. I love living a healthy liIestyle 9 The Top Rated Seller Formula Once you have your passions broken down like the example above, it's time to plug them into the Top Seller Formula to determine what type oI gig you should be oIIering and how to structure your gig. II your gig Iollows these Iive diIIerent guidelines, it's laid out perIectly to succeed. 10 Chapter 4: A Gig That Is Time Efficient Your $5 gig BeIore getting started, you need to decide how much you value your time and what you're willing to do Ior $5. Keep in mind that aIter Fiverr takes their cut oI the money, you're leIt with $4 in your pocket. To some people, writing a 5000 word article Ior $4 is worth their time but Ior most people it isn't. Many diIIerent Iactors determine how much your time is worth to you and only you can make that decision. What is important is that your gig is time eIIicient FOR YOU! When I sold my Iirst $5 gig, it took me 2 hours to complete. This was deIinitely not time eIIicient! AIter a year oI being on Fiverr, I've gotten it down to about 10-15 minutes Ior a $5 gig. This equates to about $20 per hour on $5 gigs. With each gig extra that is sold along with my initial $5 oIIering, my gig's value goes up. II all oI my gig extras are ordered, it would raise what I make to about $150 per hour. Once you get promoted to a level 1 or level 2 seller, YOUR $5 GIG SHOULD MAKE YOU LESS THAN YOUR GIG EXTRAS. Don't play math games in your head. II it takes you 30 minutes to earn $5, that means you'll only be earning $10 per hour. This is a hit you'll need to take when you Iirst start on Fiverr. AIter you get bumped up to a Level 1 seller you'll be able to take advantage oI the extras and make it worth your time. There Are Only So Many Hours In A Day Something else to keep in mind when you're plotting out your gig is how long you'll have each day to spend doing your Fiverr gigs. When I Iirst started on Fiverr, I had a 9-5 job at a school and I only had time to do Fiverrs in the morning and the evening. This leIt me planning out how many hours I was willing to work doing Fiverrs. I was limited to my hours beIore work and my hours aIter work. How long can you work? II you're single and don't have any kids, you'll probably have more time than someone with a Iull time job and a Iamily. II you are willing to put in 2 hours per day, Iigure out an oIIering that will be time eIIicient in the Iuture Ior you. This will take some experimenting to Iigure out an exact number and the more gigs you sell the better idea you'll have as to how long a gig will take you. The longer you stay on Fiverr, the easier it will get. Currently I run a music school and have numerous other ventures that consume my time. I still plan in time to complete my Fiverr orders every day. For me, Fiverr is part oI my morning routine. My routine starts oII with me waking up without an alarm, drinking a cup oI Irench press coIIee and IulIilling Fiverr orders. I'm a bit oI an early riser and on a really busy day I can bring in up to $300 and Iinish up around 10:30 AM. It's all about Iinding the right balance. Fiverr has up and downs. There are still some days when I get no orders and others when I get over 10. This is where experience will help you determine how much time you'll need to put in each day on average to complete your Fiverr orders. As I mentioned beIore, when I Iirst started on Fiverr, I had a 9-5 job. It took some experimenting to see what worked best. I tried doing my Fiverr orders when I got home Irom work. By that time my brain was Iried. I could hardly Iocus. When I got really busy, I started setting an alarm beIore work and waking up early to get my orders done. This worked much more eIIiciently Ior me but you need to Iind what works best Ior you. At the beginning, you might just need to Iind time to squeeze 11 them in whenever you can. AIter 5 months on Fiverr, I was generating enough income to stay aIloat as I built my music studio. Once that had steady business, I appreciated the power oI Fiverr even more! Think about what you are willing to do. I would say as a general rule oI thumb, it shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes to complete your $5 gig starting out. This gives you some leeway to improve while allowing you to make it tolerable at the beginning. Remember don't get Irustrated and start playing the numbers game when you Iirst start out. Remember, you are doing something you love and you're making extra money Irom home doing it!
12 Chapter 5: A Gig That A Business WouId Buy The 90/10 Principle This could be the most important oI the 5 steps when it comes to deciding your gig. YOU NEED TO CREATE A GIG THAT A BUSINESS WOULD BUY. Expect about 90 percent oI your orders to be Ior businesses. II you want a gig that generates serious money, IT NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING THAT A BUSINESS WOULD BUY. Did I mention it needs to be something a business would buy? Is that in your head yet? Good. I made this mistake when I Iirst started out on Fiverr. I tried to sell songs as a great birthday present or a Iunny way to make Iun oI someone. I tried pushing it Ior anniversaries and graduations. I got orders Ior all oI these things...but not very many. 90 oI my orders were Irom business-related purchases. Businesses will do anything they can to stand out. It's your job to tell them why they need your service. It doesn't matter iI you do web design or dance around in a banana costume, you can easily Iind a way to sell yourselI to a business iI you do it the right way. II you dance around in a banana costume, sell it as guerilla marketing... Let's take our Yoga teacher. She loves teaching yoga and showing oII her insanely Ilexible body. II she lists her gig as 'I'll teach you any Yoga pose you want Ior $5 she probably won't sell much oI anything. Sure there might be a couple oI people that buy it, but the reality is, most people don't go on Fiverr to learn Yoga. People generally use the internet to solve a problem or to be entertained. With your Fiverr gig you have the potential to oIIer both! Gig Wording How you word your gigs will directly aIIect who they are targeted toward. Let's take our Yoga teacher. We discussed that iI she oIIered to teach someone a Yoga pose she probably won't sell much. On the other hand, iI she said she would do a Yoga pose on video while promoting someone's business and saying any message, she might have something there! II she oIIered testimonials while holding the Yoga pose, that could be even better. II she oIIered to hold any yoga pose and say happy birthday to someone, that wouldn't be as eIIective. Events Bad. Business Good. The Holiday and Birthday Exception II you really have an itch to appeal to a small niche crowd you can still do this. It's the 90/10 principle Ior a reason and not the 100/0 principle. One good way to oIIer speciIic non-business directed gigs is to create a single birthday gig and a single 'holiday gig. We'll take our Yoga teacher. Let's say she creates one gig where she sings happy birthday while holding downward dog. This will bring in an order here or there and why not leave it up!? She could also do a 'holiday gig. This gig will apply to every holiday. Let's say it is Halloween. Our Yoga teacher could upload a gig video showing oII her yoga skills in a Halloween mask...while oIIering 13 to say someone's message oI course. When Christmas rolls around she could simply change the title oI the gig, upload a new video and do the same thing wearing a Santa hat. There are numerous big holidays that Fiverr promotes so it doesn't hurt to have a gig that can be generalized Ior numerous holidays. Holidays Fiverr Loves ! Valentine's Day ! Mother's Day ! Father's Day ! Halloween ! Christmas Creating a gig that can work on any oI these holidays is a great way to supplement other orders. People love to do corny things, give corny giIts, and run corny promotions around these holidays so you should take advantage oI the Iew extra orders. In between holidays, you can simply suspend the gig so it doesn't take up space on your page and take away Irom other gigs. You won't get too many orders Irom these gigs but they can bring in money. Personally, I had great success with a Halloween gig but not too much with a Christmas gig. I Iound I got just as many orders Irom my 'normal gigs as I did my holiday gigs. I had people order my other gigs geared toward business and request Halloween songs. Your Gig Category So how do you make your gig stand out to the business crowd? Well there are a couple oI diIIerent ways. Most Fiverr sellers don't know this and don't know how to do this. Most sellers have a one track mind and decide to categorize their gig in the most obvious way. This is a big mistake. You don't want to put your gig into a Ilooded category and give it no chance to get noticed. II you place your gig the right way, you can bring in more orders. Let's take a look at the gig categories oIIered on Fiver. 14 Gig Categories 15 Gig Research This is where you can really make some big money with your gig. Let's take our Yoga teacher. Say she has decided she is going to do Yoga poses while saying anything. There are numerous categories her gig could Iit in. Let's look. Obvious Category Listings: ! Video & Animation : Commercials ! Video & Animation : Testimonials & Reviews by actors ! Online Marketing : Video Marketing ! Fun and Bizarre : Your Message On ! LiIestyle : Health and Fitness Some Less obvious Category Listings: ! Videos & Animation : Intros ! Online Marketing : Get TraIIic ! Writing and Translation : Website Content ! Advertising : Outdoor Advertising ! Business : Branding Services ! Business : Business Tips There isn't necessarily a right or wrong way to categorize your gig but there are certain steps you can take to get noticed. Let's say you own a business. You head to Fiverr and see all oI these categories. What categories are you going to click on Iirst? Well, probably the Business category. Online Marketing could be a big one too. The hardest thing Ior any business, whether it's getting Fiverr orders or selling hamburgers, is how to position themselves in a crowded marketplace. Chances are there will be (a lot) oI other sellers selling the exact same gig as you on Fiverr. II our Yoga teacher decides to put her gig in the Health and Fitness Category, there is a good chance it won't be seen by a lot oI potential buyers. The best bet Ior categorizing this gig would be to put it Business: Branding Services or Online Marketing: Video Marketing. The reason ? Where will businesses be looking to purchase gigs that help their business? They probably won't go browsing through the Iitness section hoping to Iind someone that can help with their marketing. Keep in mind you can experiment with categorizing your gig and use your gig analytics to determine iI what you are doing is working or iI it's not working. We'll dive deeper into your gig analytics later on. 16 Chapter 6: A Gig That Can Be Shown On Video Being able to demonstrate your gigs on video is VERY IMPORTANT. Videos are much more engaging and captivating to a viewer than looking at a photo. Don't panic iI you are a writer or an artist. You don't need to take a video oI yourselI writing an article. What you need to do is create a video explaining why you're the best choice. How important is it? I'll let Fiverr tell you. How to Create your video 220 more sales is worth putting up a gig video right? It doesn't need to be complex or time consuming in order to work better than a photo. II your gig isn't easy to demonstrate on video, there are a Iew ways to show what you have to oIIer. I had a couple oI diIIerent options when it came to showing oII my music. I could have taken a live video oI myselI perIorming the song but I didn't want to conIuse buyers and think my gig was a live perIormance. I also wanted to show oII the quality oI my recordings. II you are a writer, make a short video explaining what you can oIIer and why they should choose you. Do you have a journalism degree? Explain that in a video. People oIten have short attention spans and don't want to read all oI your credentials. Watching a video is much easier on their bored brains. Think oI the video as the easiest way to sell yourselI. Sell them a dream. Sell them what you could do Ior their business. Explain why they'll surely be better oII spending $5 on you than someone else. CREATING A GOOD GIG VIDEO IS THE EASIEST WAY TO STAND OUT FROM THE COMPETITION! When I Iirst started oII, I made my video in iMovie and it was a demo song with some images and text added in. I didn't know anything about gig extras at the time and I just wanted to display what my audio would sound like. When I got promoted to Level 1 seller people started buying videos like I had shown in my sample. As time went on, I Iound other alternatives to creating videos. Two great video soItware programs that are easy to use are Videoscribe by Sparkol and Powtoon. Both oI these allow you to create engaging videos buyers enjoy watching. You've seen those videos that show a hand drawing on a whiteboard? That is Videoscribe. Those Iunny little animated pop-up characters in sales video? Those can made using Powtoon. You can do a trial with both oI these soItwares and even export Iull quality videos with their watermark iI you don't want to commit to purchasing the soItware. 17 II your gig is something that you're doing on video such as a testimonial, create the highest quality video possible. When you take the video, you want to show oII what you can do to the best oI your abilities. This is a great way to show buyers the potential your gig could have. Lets take our Yoga teacher. II she is going to oIIer a single pose while promoting a business Ior $5, in her gig video she should show oII every pose she has to oIIer and shoot the video in High DeIinition. Showing potential buyers what she can do is an easy way to up sell. Her base $5 gig might be doing one pose saying the buyer's message delivered in Standard DeIinition. Her video is showing so much more than that though. With the simple use oI a gig video, she is successIully turning her gig into a gateway gig. 18 Chapter 7: A Gateway Gig That Sparks Ideas Our Yoga teacher's video is turning her gig into a gateway gig. What is a gateway gig? Gateway gigs lead people through that open gate toward buying extras. It leads them to spend more money on your gig. It shows that your gig is a great value. VALUE IS WHAT BUYERS ON FIVERR ARE LOOKING FOR ON FIVERR Our Yoga teacher's video shows so much more than the basic $5 gig. Seeing that, buyers will think, that is what I want! That is worth the extra money. This is where you can seriously raise your order average as well as how much you earn per hour. This screenshot is Irom 9AM on the Iirst oI the month so you'll deIinitely be earning a lot more than $20 Ior the month! Take a look at my average selling price. The average order I have received on Fiverr since joining is $14. This is even with taking into account that every order I had Ior the Iirst month was only $5 and the highest orders I received the Iirst 3 months on Fiverr were no more than $15. What I would give to go back and know how to optimize gig extras at that time! $14 is sure better than $5 don't you think? Take a look at the 'Gig Extras Ordered and the 'Multiple Orders charts. You deIinitely want to see some high spikes in those rather than Ilat lines. All those peaks are directly related to oIIering gateway gigs. You want to get lots oI messages that start oII with 'You know what would be awesome...!?!. When you categorize your gig right, give it an eIIective title and upload a good gig video, your gig turns into a gateway gig. People will want what is shown in your sample video. They don't want one pose Irom our Yoga teacher on video in SD. They want numerous poses in HD with their message said as well as written. With my songs, I constantly get ideas Irom buyers that would make them 'better. Making the song 'better translates into more orders and more money. II I give someone a 30 second song and they love it, they might want to turn it into a 3 minute long song. They might want a video incorporating their logo with the song. They might even think it would be Iunny iI I took a video oI myselI singing it 19 while wearing a tie. When you start getting speciIic requests like that, you can set your own prices. Time Free Gig Extras When you get promoted to a Level 1, Level 2 or Top Rated Seller, you can optimize your gig extras to raise your order average. The best way to do this is time-Iree gig extras. These are extras that don't take more time to create. II you are a writer and you oIIer a 500 word article Ior $5 and you oIIer a gig extra oI 1000 Ior an additional $5, this isn't a time-Iree gig extra. An example oI a time-Iree gig extra would be something that takes you no extra time to do. Let's go back to our Yoga teacher. For an additional $10 she could deliver the video in HD. This won't take her any more time to complete the gig but will raise how much she makes in relation to how much time she spends on it. Express extras are a great way to take advantage oI this as well. It won't take you more time to do the actual project but you'll get paid more Ior delivering it Iaster. You should shoot Ior at least two gig extras that won't take you any extra time to complete. For the gig extras that will take extra time, make it worth it. II our Yoga teacher oIIers more poses she should make them worth her time. They should be more than $5 per pose. Remember... GIG EXTRAS SHOULD ALWAYS MAKE YOU MORE MONEY THAN YOUR $5 GIG! Gig extras will place value on your services. This means you shouldn't overvalue or undervalue your services. Just because someone else charges much less doesn't mean you should. Perception equals reality. II you oIIer your services Ior too little, people will view what you have to oIIer as cheap and ineIIective. II you have the cheapest gig, you are also going to attract the cheapest buyers. Cheap buyers more problems. Cheap buyers will always expect something more no matter how much you are oIIering. Make sure you price your gigs to match what YOU think your services are worth. II what you are oIIering is a high quality product, your buyer will be happy no matter what the cost. Gig extras is the easiest way to do this. You have a talent. You have something to oIIer. Don't undervalue your services. Be conIident in how you present what you have to oIIer and buyers will be happy to buy Irom you...again and again! 20 Chapter 8: A Gig That You Can DeIiver Within 2 Days Are you crazy I don't want the pressure oI delivering an order in 2 days! Don't worry this doesn't mean you need to deliver every gig within 2 days. This rule right here is a rule a lot oI top sellers don't necessarily Iollow but one that brings me in a lot oI money. The Power of Impulse Purchases This ties into responding quickly to messages. II a buyer is browsing around Fiverr looking Ior something cool to buy, they are in the mindset to make an impulse purchase. II someone is making an impulse buy, chances are they want something right away. They want it now and not in a week. During my Iirst 3-4 months, I set my delivery time to 24 hours. I delivered every video within 24 hours. My advice to sellers just starting out is that you should do this iI you can. II you don't think you'll be able to, don't sweat it. I'll teach you some tricks that will better your delivery time. Fiverr lets buyers know 'on average how long it takes to deliver the order. 'On average is the time Irame you set to deliver your gig. II you set it at one day as I recommend Ior anyone Iirst starting on Fiverr, it will say you deliver your gigs in one day on average. What iI you don't want to waste weekend time doing gigs to deliver in one day? Well iI you're a new seller just deliver them as Iast as you possibly can. This will be the best way to build reviews. II you have your delivery time set to 4 days and you happen to deliver it in one, you'll have a happy buyer on your hands. You want to get reviews that say 'Wow that was delivered way Iaster than I expected!. This will mean more to other buyers than 'days on average shown on the gig page. II you are Level 1 or Level 2 seller, there's a way to take advantage oI Iast delivery. Currently I charge $20 Ior an express delivery. For what used to be a $5 order, I now get $25 Ior. These orders don't take me any more time to do, I just Iound a better way to utilize my time. I not work smarter rather than harder. There is a Iine line between working hard and working smart. When I Iirst joined Fiverr I was working hard but not smart. II I had this inIormation available to me when I Iirst started selling on Fiverr I would have been a lot better oII! 21 The 4:1 Ratio The ideal turnaround timeIrame Ior standard delivery and express delivery in my experience on Fiverr is 4 days to 1 day. I Iound oIIering standard delivery in 4 days and oIIering express delivery in 24 hours Ior $20 extra maximized orders Ior both. I experimented with many diIIerent number combinations. I oIIered 2 days standard delivery and $10 express delivery. I hardly got any express orders. I oIIered 5-7 day delivery and both $20 and $40 express options. I got a Iew more express orders but my number oI normal orders dipped signiIicantly. Some sellers will oIIer longer standard delivery like 10-14 days and charge $40-$100 to deliver it in 2-4 days. I can't say how this works out as I would never recommend oIIering delivery times that long. The sweet spot Ior me is a 4:1 ratio. II you can oIIer standard delivery in 4 days and express delivery in 24 hours Ior $20 extra dollars, you will get orders Ior both. Fiverr has a nice little countdown clock that will show you just how much time you have leIt to deliver your order. I know not everyone has time to deliver within 24 hours. This is Iine. II you oIIer an express option to deliver in 2 days you will still get express orders. Anything beyond 2 days starts to driIt over into normal delivery time. When setting your gig time, MAKE SURE YOU CAN COMPLETE IT ON TIME! This is very important. The second that clock passes 0 the buyer is allowed to cancel the order because you didn't deliver on time. This will result in a thumbs down review and that is a HUGE no-no. Especially at the beginning. Even to this day, aIter being on Fiverr Ior over a year, I still avoid getting a negative at all costs. I have completed close to 1700 orders and I have never received one negative and I have never delivered one gig late. AIter you get in a groove on Fiverr and start getting orders you can adjust these numbers accordingly. LiIe WILL get in the way oI Fiverr. You'll take vacations and breaks. Maybe you'll even pay Ior these vacations with your earnings! One thing I highly recommend when taking a leave oI absence like a vacation is to make sure you EXTEND YOUR GIG TIME RATHER THAN PAUSE YOUR GIG. Pausing a gig means it will no longer appear in the Fiverr search. Unless you really don't want any more orders, there is no point to pause you gig. Extend the delivery to 20 days iI you need to. You will still get orders and people will still see your gig. II you pause your gig, people won't see it.
22 Chapter 9: Fiverr Keywords, AnaIytics, and SEO Optimizing your gig so it's Iound easier in the Fiverr search is very important when it comes to getting orders. Fiverr oIIers analytics to let you know how your gig is doing. When analyzing these analytics, there are certain things to look Ior to see how your gig is doing. Fiverr analytics will show you a Iew diIIerent things. It will show you these numbers Irom the last 30 days: 1. Impressions (eye) - How many times your gig has been seen on the page users were browsing 2. Clicks (hand) How many times your gig has been clicked on over the past 30 days 3. Page Views (page) The number oI users who clicked and stayed to look around your page 4. Orders (shopping cart) The number oI orders you received 5. Conversion (Graph lines) Your conversion rate is the number oI orders you got based oII oI unique users. For example, page views measures your views by unique viewers. You may get a buyer that orders multiple times within 30 days. II a single buyer orders multiple times, this will not improve your conversion rate. There are unknown variables not provided by Fiverr so there is no exact Iormula Ior calculating this. I'll explain below why it isn't the best marker Ior success anyway. How to Interpret Your Analytics Looking at your Fiverr analytics is very diIIerent than looking at your Google analytics. On Google, you're conversion rate can mean everything! On Fiverr this isn't necessarily as important. How you analyze each gig is going to be determined by numerous Iactors. II you create a gig that is highly 23 competitive, it's important to get a lot oI views/impressions. II you look at the image on the previous page, my gig with the most orders didn't have the highest conversion rate. Conversion rate doesn't always equate to more sales/money. Let's take a look at these two examples below. Both oI these gigs oIIer songs. They are both placed into diIIerent categories. The bottom gig is placed into a business category. The top gig is placed in a music category. Notice the diIIerence in impressions. The gig in the business category had over 4,000 more impressions. It also had over 250 more clicks and almost 150 more page views. Look at the number oI orders compared to the conversion rate. The business gig had 28 orders and the audio gig had 22 orders. I might have converted more sales with my audio gig but my business gig brought in 6 more sales and nearly double the money as my gig in the audio category. There are a couple oI diIIerent reasons why. So why on Earth would I put any gigs into the audio category iI I'm selling so much more in the business category? Well Ior one I am established. I had a higher conversion rate Ior the top gig because it ranks near top in its category. When you're Iirst starting out or trying to grow your sales and reputation, this won't be the case. You won't get exposure by using the 'sort by rating Ieature. You can deIinitely build up to this and bring in sales Irom numerous categories but AT THE BEGINNING TRY TO GET MORE IMPRESSIONS OVER A HIGH CONVERSION RATE. II you have a nice gig video and oIIer something worth buying, you will get orders. Especially aIter you get some positive reviews. You'll see on another oI mine on the previous page, I only had a 3.5 conversion rate but still received 22 orders. Don't Iocus too much on conversion rate until you get your impressions and page views up. Improving conversion rate can be as simple as changing your gig video. Take a look at these numbers Irom a diIIerent 30 day period. 24 Notice in that image above that I had a 23 conversion rate on one gig and a 4.4 conversion rate on another. The gig that had a conversion rate almost 20 lower received two MORE orders during that 30 day period. I'm not saying that you should aim Ior a lower conversion rate but don't base your success on trying to improve your conversion rate. Try to improve your impressions, clicks and page views and this will translate to more orders! Titles and Keywords and Descriptions...Oh My! How do you go about getting more impressions, clicks and page views? This will take some experimentation. You need to experiment with your gig title and your keywords. With each gig you create, choose a diIIerent title and diIIerent keywords. Fiverr will let you know how you're doing in terms oI your title. To optimize your title, keep it under 50 characters. Look at that! They'll let you know iI it's just perIect! II it's too long, you'll get a little reminder to shorten it. Remember it's a title, not a short story... Your title should be short and to the point. State what your gig does plainly and simply. Look around at other gigs that have similar oIIerings and see what their titles are. You don't need to reinvent the wheel and create an entirely unique gig that has never existed beIore to succeed on Fiverr. You just need to do something better or slightly diIIerently than other gigs. Titles are a great way to diIIerentiate yourselI Irom another oIIering. At the beginning when you don't have reviews to rely on, a good title is an easy way to draw a potential buyer in. The title is what turns an impression into a click or a page view. II your title is interesting, buyers will click on the title. Is the title above a good title? 'I will create a whiteboard marketing video Ior you. It's short and to the point. Does it stand out? Not really. It could be better. There are A LOT oI whiteboard oIIerings on Fiverr. A better title would diIIerentiate your oIIerings Irom other sellers. You could do this through creative wording. Remember you can't steal someone else's gig title so creative wording is the best way to stand out in a sea oI similar gigs. Maybe something like 'I will help your business stand out on whiteboard. This plants an idea in the potential buyers head. It makes them curious as to HOW you'll make 25 their business stand out. II your gig simply states 'I will create you a whiteboard video, there is no question or intrigue Ior the buyer. There is no 'HOW. A good title should help a buyer envision the potential you have to oIIer. Titles will bring buyers to a gig page but how will they Iind your gig? How will they even see your title iI you're a new buyer with a gig that has a lot oI competition. You can increase your chances oI being seen beyond your title by using eIIective search keywords. A Word About Keywords AIter you decide your gig title you get 5 keywords or 'tags to describe your gig. These can make or break your gig. When I Iirst started out on Fiverr and I oIIered songs, my tags were 'Song, Jingle, Birthday, Anniversary, Graduation. Looking back I'm embarrassed that I used these tags and quite Irankly I have no idea how I thought a graduation song would be a big hit! You only get 5 keywords so choose wisely! This example would go with our whiteboard gig Irom the previous page. This is a semi- eIIective use oI tags. The good: It describes what the gig is. It targets business. The bad: It only has 4 tags. It isn't very creative and won't make you stand out as much as you should. How could this be improved upon? Well the Iirst way is to UTILIZE ALL 5 TAGS. You have 5 to use, don't use 4 or 1, use all 5. Determining eIIective tags will take some experimenting. Your Iirst tag should describe what your gig is. This should be the most obvious word to describe it. II you write songs, your Iirst word should be a 'song. II you do video testimonials your Iirst tag should be 'video testimonial. Easy enough right? Your second tag should should be closely related but a little bit more speciIic. In the whiteboard example above 'video scribe could potentially be a good second tag. II you write songs, 'jingle could be a good second tag aIter your initial song tag. The second tag should be less general compared to your Iirst tag. Your Iirst two tags will describe what your gig is but your next three tags will be how you get exposure. Your third, Iourth and IiIth tag should be ways you plan to attract people searching Ior your gig. In the whiteboard gig example, 'business and 'marketing are tags. These tags are okay and they would go aIter businesses but are they really creative? Those are obvious words that many people are probably using as tags. The key is to think outside the box when it comes to your tags. Think about what buyers will likely be searching Ior. Say a buyer searches Ior whiteboard and gets hundreds, iI not thousands, oI results back. He could sit there and look through each one to see which will be the best Iit. Or he may go back and be more speciIic. He may type in whiteboard Ior business. II you use the business tag, your gig would be Iound but chances are there will still be a lot oI results Ior this tag. 26 A better alternative might be 'business promotion. A lot oI marketers go on Fiverr looking Ior a clever way to promote their products. They don't search with a speciIic gig in mind but rather browse around looking Ior something creative. 'business promotion and 'creative marketing would be better tags to bring in orders compared to 'business and 'marketing. As I said beIore this takes some experimenting. Let's go back to our Yoga teacher. This is how her tags might look: 1. Yoga 2. Sign 3. Creative promotion 4. Guerilla marketing 5. E-Commerce These are just ideas that would be a good starting point. Yoga is what the gig is in the most broad sense. All oI these other tags would be tags to test out to get impressions, page views and clicks. To track the success oI the tags Iollow how many times your gigs are being viewed over 2 week periods. A good number to shoot Ior in the beginning is over 1.5K impressions. II you are hitting this number you should be getting a decent amount oI orders even iI you have a lower conversion rate. Your Gig Description So you've optimized your title, you've Iound successIul tags and you have a rockin' gig video. What's the last step to selling your gig? You get a 1200 character description. This is where you really get a chance to sell your gig. Keep a couple oI things in mind when you write this. Don't put 1200 characters straight with no text breaks. Use spaces and symbols to break things up. Use something like **Best business promotion on Fiverr** 27 This is a chance to explain why your gig is the best. You did the hard part. You got the buyer to the page. Now all you need to do is explain why you're an expert in what you have to oIIer. Be ConIident. Be Positive. Be Sincere. Channel your inner Don Draper. They need to buy your gig more than you need to sell it. Convince them oI that. Here are some suggestions oI things you can say in your description. 1. Your satisIaction is guaranteed! 2. Fast delivery 3. The most (creative, unique, etc...) gig you will Iind on Fiverr! 4. I'm a proIessional (insert what you do) and I have (insert number) years oI experience 5. The most (creative, unique, etc...) way to promote your business 6. List your credentials In addition to why you are the best choice, describe exactly what your gig is oIIering. II your gig is oIIering a whiteboard video, describe exactly what the buyer will get Ior $5. SpeciIy that $5 will get you 10 seconds oI video with no music so the buyers doesn't expect an hour long video with a customized Iilm score accompanying the video. Believe me, you will have buyers that will try to rip you oII and take advantage oI you. Make it clear in your gig description as to what they'll get. This way you can reIerence your gig description iI they try to argue with you via message. You can simply reply, 'As clearly stated in the gig description (this is what you are getting). Gig Instructions One last section you'll need to Iill out on your gig page is the instructions to your buyer aIter they order. You get 450 characters to explain to the buyer what you need Irom them. These will basically be an extension oI your gig description. It can be a Iairly standard set oI instructions. Mine looks something like this. 28 'Thank you so much Ior the order! Please include anything speciIic you want mentioned such as company names and/or slogans. II there are any names that are hard to pronounce be sure to include the proper pronunciation. II you want any images included, please include high resolution photos. II you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask! This is just over 350 characters and gives the buyer the last bit oI inIormation they need beIore submitting their inIormation. This is where you include any last details you didn't mention in your gig description. 29 Chapter 10: Superstar Service When you call your cable or internet company you expect bad service. You expect a headache on the phone and long wait times. What iI you were to call your cable company and a real person answered the phone and solved your problem right away. You would be shocked and happy! Every step oI the order process is a great way to exhibit great customer service. From messages to a potential buyer, to delivering a Iinalized piece oI work, showing oII your customer service is a great way to nail down repeat buyers as well as bring in new buyers. Messages When someone is browsing around aimlessly on Fiverr they are generally looking to buy something. They will probably send out numerous messages to diIIerent sellers oIIering close to the same gig. Generally whoever responds Iirst is who they will order Irom. Fiverr keeps track oI how long it takes you to respond to messages. II you respond to messages as Iast as you can, YOU WILL SELL A LOT MORE! I get email notiIications to my phone and try to respond as soon as I see I have a message. A single message Irom a buyer could lead to a $100 plus order. They could be a return customer who orders 10-20 more times. Treat every potential buyer as someone who WILL return. Don't get in the mindset oI 'this will probably only be a $5 order so it isn't worth responding to quickly. From my experience buying on Fiverr, most sellers take 24 hours to respond. By that time, I've usually already bought Irom a diIIerent seller who has answered my questions with a quicker response to my message. II you want to stand out with your oIIering, the easiest way is to be prompt in responding to messages. Your responses don't need to be paragraphs long. 90 oI questions buyers ask will be 'I'm looking Ior (insert random request). Can you do that?. A simple 'I can deIinitely do that! is a Iine response and will take you all oI 10 seconds to write. You don't need to worry about this and get push notiIications in the middle oI the night to respond to Fiverr messages but don't ignore one iI you see one. RESPOND TO YOUR MESSAGES PROMPTLY! Fiverr keeps track oI your response time to messages. They take all oI your message response times over the previous 30 days and average them together. It can be seen on your user page. 30 This number isn't 100 accurate when it comes to displaying your actual response time but it's a good way to gauge iI you're on the right track. The reason it isn't 100 accurate is because it doesn't take into account messages you don't respond to. Say you get 2 messages and the Iirst says 'Can you promote my company in a cool way with your gig?. You respond in 10 seconds saying 'OI course I can! I'll get started when you order! The second message you get says 'Hey check out my awesome new gig I can make you a new website Ior $5. You ignore that because it is spam. Your average response time is now 15 days. When you don't respond to a message it adds 30 days onto your average. You also need to keep in mind you're probably (hopeIully!) sleeping 6-9 hours per night. You won't be responding to messages in the middle oI the night. A good rule oI thumb is to keep your Fiverr average response time to UNDER 15 HOURS. II you do this, there is a good chance you are prompt enough when it comes to responding to messages. After you receive an order AIter a buyer places an order with you and submits the inIormation you ask Ior, you will receive a notiIication that that the countdown to delivery has begun. AIter the order is oIIicially open, I like to respond to the buyer to let them know the order came though. Something like: 'Thanks Ior the order! I'll get this back to you as soon as I can. Let me know iI you have any other questions. This is short and sweet and lets the buyer know you received the order without a problem. A lot oI new buyers get conIused as to how the ordering process works and this will reassure them they have done everything correctly. When You Deliver a Gig AIter you have Iinished the buyer's order (on time or early oI course!), it is time to deliver the work to the buyer. When you deliver, you should drop them a little thank you note as well. When I deliver orders I say something like this: 'Here you go! This was a really Iun project to work on and I hope we can work together again in the Iuture. Let me know iI there is anything you want changed or added. II you are satisIied, I would appreciate iI you could mark this order as complete by leaving a thumbs up with a positive review. II you would like to add on any gig extras to this you can at any time. Thanks so much again! -Insert Your Name This is personalized and lets the buyer know you care about their satisIaction with the order. Some buyers include something like 'II you are extremely satisIied I will gladly accept a tip. Personally I don't do this but many other sellers do. I don't think there is anything wrong with that but I would much rather have the buyer add on a more expensive gig extra or order again rather than leave a $5 tip. I used to oIIer a tip gig and got tips on about 2 oI orders. When I started promoting gig extras over tips, my order average went up and I started making more money. How you want to sell this is up to you and both will work. 31 Get all Positive Feedback When you Iirst start out do everything you can to get all positive Ieedback. When buyers ask Ior corrections, do them Ior Iree and in a timely manner. Getting all positive Ieedback ensures that buyers will trust you and you'll get some love Irom Fiverr as well. This is the least Iun part about Fiverr. You'll have diIIicult buyers that want redo's when the initial problem was their Iault to begin with. You'll need to bend over backwards Ior a measly $5 in some cases. In the long run it's worth it. Swear at your computer as much as you want, but make sure the buyer is satisIied. II you do, you'll get Ieedback praising your Iast and great service. This is the ultimate Ieedback that will inIluence other buyers to order Irom you. Avoid Cancellations Every order that you cancel Irom a buyer has a negative impact on you. Fiverr keeps tracks oI cancellations and gives you a certain percentage beIore they take away your seller rating. As a rule oI thumb, try to keep your cancellations to under 5. II a buyer places an order by mistake and wants to cancel, tell him to request a cancellation and you will accept. This way you are never the one to cancel. Be sure to avoid a Iorce cancellation at all costs! Following the Rules: Play Nicely The easiest way to NOT succeed on Fiverr is to ignore their Terms oI Service. It might look like a long and conIusing document but there are a Iew basic rules that you need to know. II you Iollow these rules you will never get in trouble with Fiverr. Rule #1: No Outside Contact This is a big one and probably the most tempting rule to break. NEVER give your contact inIormation to be contacted oII oI Fiverr. Don't do it. It isn't worth it. Sellers ask Ior my personal email address or my phone number all the time and I always politely respond 'Thank you but due to the Fiverr Terms oI Service I only communicate through the Fiverr Messaging System. Why is it important to respond this way? II someone sends you a message asking Ior your email that message has already been Ilagged. II you start to write the word email or the symbol you get a big Iat warning reminding you not to ask Ior outside contact inIormation. 32 From the image on the previous page you can see the warning that pops up. II someone sends you a message with an symbol in it, Fiverr is notiIied and the message is Ilagged. This is why it is best to respond with a message saying you always Iollow terms oI service and politely reIuse to communicate oII oI Fiverr. You'll cover your own behind by doing this. You will get that nice little reminder when you type certain words. There are a Iew contact words and symbols you should avoid. The Words to Avoid: ! ' symbol ! Email ! Skype Avoid those three words/symbols and you'll stay out oI trouble. Remember there is nothing that can't be communicated through the Fiverr Messaging System that can only be said through email. Rule #2: Never Take Outside Payment This is a big one and you probably won't even get you a warning beIore getting kicked oII oI Fiverr iI you violate this one. Don't EVER oIIer to take money oII oI Fiverr. This is a tough one especially at the beginning. You're only selling $5 orders and someone messages you saying 'Hey I love your gig and I want to buy a bunch. Fiverr is conIusing is there anyway I can just send you the money directly through PayPal? ALWAYS say NO to this. I know it's hard. Fiverr takes 20 oI the money and iI you go oII oI Fiverr you can charge more than $5. But, Iirst oII, generally when a buyer tells you they are 'going to buy a whole bunch and bring you tons oI business they are usually lying. Second, even iI they do, it won't be as much as you'll make in the long run Iollowing Fiverr's rules. II someone asks Ior this, I always respond 'I only oIIer this service through Fiverr and it is against their Terms oI Service to take or place orders oII oI the site. Be careIul with your response here because again Fiverr Ilags certain words. II you respond and say 'I won't take your money oII oI Fiverr you will get the big warning box. No matter how much someone tempts you DON'T DO IT! This is the Iastest way to guarantee getting permanently kicked oII oI Fiverr. 33 The words to Avoid ! Pay ! Payment ! PayPal ! Money II you plan on buying gigs on Fiverr and you aren't happy with what was delivered. DON'T DISPUTE IT WITH YOUR BANK OR PAYPAL! This is a big no-no and will get you kicked oII oI Fiver. Simply ask the buyer Ior a reIund or contact customer support to handle the issue. Rule #3: Don't Link Out To Personal Websites This one goes hand in hand with accepting money oII oI Fiver but you won't be punished as harshly Irom the start. I got busted Ior doing this and it was an innocent mistake. I simple linked out to a portIolio oI samples I had on a personal website. I received a warning Irom Fiverr telling me I wasn't allowed to do that. You ARE allowed to link out to samples oI work but they must be on a user sharing site. You can put video samples up on YouTube or Vimeo. You can put audio samples up on SoundCloud. This is the best way to stay out oI trouble when it comes to showing oII what you can do. 34 Chapter 11: ConcIusion Congratulations you've made it this Iar!
