WhyaCovenant?
Thepurposeofthiscovenantistohelpeachofusunderstandwhatisexpectedofeachotheraswe
meetfromweektoweektopreparespecialmusicforworshipandaswepresentourmusicduring
worshipandatothervenuesthroughouttheyear.WearecalledtotreatothersasequalsinGods
grace,encouragingandsharpeningeachotherwithlovethroughprayer,respect,andsupport.

OurPurpose
ThepurposeoftheChancelChoiristomusicallyandspirituallyleadourcongregationintheweekly
11:00amtraditionalworshipservices.Webelievethatworshipistheattitudeoflivingourlives,bothon
andoffthechancel,inresponsetoGodsloveandgrace,inordertoexemplifyourfaithtoallthose
aroundus.

Responsibilities/Expectations
1. Iwillmakerehearsalsapriorityinmyscheduleasthisisaministryanditdeservesthat
commitment.
2. Iwillcommittospendingtimeoutsideofourrehearsaltimestolearnourmusic.
3. Iwillmaximizeourrehearsaltimesbyplacingmyfocusonwhatweareheretodo:worship
throughmusic.(Thisdoesntmeanwewonthavefun,itjustmeansthatwhenitstimetoget
seriouswewillgetserious.)
4. Iwillcommittomaintainingapersonalprayerlifeandspiritualgrowth.
5. Iwillcommittoprayingforthisministryandforeachmember.
6. Iwillrespectthepersonalboundariesandconfidencesofmyfellowchoirmembers.
7. Iwilltreatthisministrywiththeseriousnessthatitdeserves.
8. IwillbeontimetorehearsalsandwillcontactsomeoneinadvancewhenIcannotbethere.
9. IunderstandthatunlessgivenexceptionbythechoirdirectorIwillnotjointhechoironSunday
morningifIwasnotatrehearsalthatweek.

HowWeWillHandleConflicts/Issues
Prayforindividualsandaboutthesituation
Seekspiritualguidanceandunderstanding
Clearlyidentifytheissuesbasedonfactsandnothearsay
Speakdirectlywiththoseinvolved.Mattersofconflictwillonlybediscussedwiththe
individualsdirectlyinvolved
Seektoresolveissuestothebenefitofthechurchsmission
Wewillnotharborresentment.Wewillforgiveand/orseekforgiveness.
Ifissuescannotberesolvedonaonetoonebasiswewillseekthecounselofour
churchleaders(ie,Pastor,LayLeader,StaffParishRelationsCommittee,etc.)

IunderstandtherequirementstobeapartoftheChancelChoirhereat1stUnitedMethodistChurch
andwillcomplywiththiscovenant.ShouldInotbeabletomeettheserequirementsIwillvoluntarily
discontinuemyparticipationinthegroup.
