CHECKLIST FOR UNIT PLAN

Unit Name topic: THIS IS MY LIFE

ASPECT SUB-ASPECT DESCRIPTION YES NO IMP SUGGESTION
IDENTIFICATION
Title The UP is appropriately labelled.
X It's a very ambiguous title, you can think
of in something more specific like "My
home" or "My neighborhood"

Information
The UP has the information about topic,
target group, etc.
X You should use the BACKWARD DESIGN
UNIT PLAN Template.
STAGE 1 Goals
The UP contain a clear goal, that includes
communicative skills, content and
learning strategies.
X You do not use the right formats, so you
must answer all the questions that it
contains. The objectives need to be more
specific and answer questions like:
~ Number of students
~ What relevant goals (e.g. content
standards, course or program objectives,
learning outcomes, etc.) will this design
assess? (Express it as you are already
looking at your students achieving the
goal)
What essential question(s) will be
considered?
~ What provocative questions will foster
inquiry, understanding, and transfer of
learning?
~ What understandings are desired?
Students will understand that...
~ What are the big ideas?
~ What specific understandings about
them are desired?
~ What misunderstandings are
predictable?

clearly answered.
- X - You do not use questions throughout the
whole unit.

Connection
The UP evidences a close connection
between the previous questions and the
goals.
X The goals are not clear and the objectives
are very general.
STAGE 2
Understanding
evidences
The tasks proposed in the UP are closely
connected to the goals and eliciting
questions, as well as to the previous
knowledge and expected outcomes.
X Try to create different kind of activities
for each class and topic taking into
account the characteristics of the whole
group and each guy as well.
The tasks proposed in the UP ease the
measurable observation of students
understanding.

X
Perhaps teachers are wasting a lot of time
in easy topics or tasks that students can
understand and practice easily.
Assessment/
Evaluation
evidences
The strategies and tools proposed in the
UP ease the measurable achievement of
the goal.

X
Perhaps teachers could try to improve
their speaking and listening not only with
the teacher's voice but with songs,
dialogues, games and some challenging
activities for them.
STAGE 3 Lesson Plans
The lesson plan sample are closely
connected to the previous stages.
X
There are no previous stages so it is hard
to know what kind of topics or activities
students worked before. These three
lesson plan are connected but not
reinforcing the knowledge of student
more than grammar. Also, the biggest
students maybe have learned this before
at school so the process is boring for the
smallest and repetitive for the biggest
ones.
