I ask you and I beseech you and, falling at your feet, I beg you: as long as
we enjoy the brief respite of life, let us repent, let us be converted, let us become
better, so that we will not have to lament uselessly like that rich man when we die
and tears can do us no good. For even if you have a father or a son or a friend or
anyone else who might have influence with God, no one will be able to set you
free, for your own deeds condemn you.
Announcements
• Last Sunday’s attendance was 34 souls, collection was 257.00 total. May our
Lord God reward you abundantly for your generosity.
• The West Coast Walk for Life will sponsor its sixth annual West Coast
Walk for Life on Saturday, January 23, 2010. On this day, all are invited to
unite in a peaceful walk through San Francisco, to witness to their love and
respect for life. Two persons from our parish signed up to join the bus provided
by Spritus Snctus Academy, other parishioners are planning to travel by car. I
encourage you all to participate.
• WE NEED YOUR HELP! We would like to raise funds for our parish in the
“Christmas around the world” event, on November 14th 2009, which also
happens to be the Feast of St. Philip the Apostle! Please reserve that
day. Beforehand, we will need people to transport the items and baked goods,
working at the booth. Also, if you have any items you would be willing to make
or donate, especially baked goods or Christmas crafts, please do so. They can be
stored at the church if you do not have room at home. Also, for health reasons
all items of food should be wrapped securely. If you can help, please contact
Margaret Dean or Elizabeth Baker.
• I will be attending clergy retreat in Phoenix, October 26th - 30th. I ask your
prayers for myself, and all the clergy of the Eparchy.

penance. Let us remember each other as we offer prayers and sacrifices to God, in
union with the Cross of Christ.
Sacramento Events to note
• The Sacramento Diocese is participating in a nationwide pro-life effort entitled
“40 Days for Life”, which are 40 days set aside to fast and pray for an end to abortion
and to all other attacks on human life. They have selected one site, so that all those
engaged in this “fight for life” will be united, and give greater witness to the
community at large. The specific clinic is located at 2322 Butano Drive, Sacramento,
California 95864, and vigil hours are from 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Mondays through
Saturdays. Please consider signing up for an hour—you can visit the website
www.40daysforlife.com/sacramento, or contact your pastor to sign up. Another way to
participate is to attend the Mass and/or to pray for one hour of Eucharistic Adoration
vigils held each Thursday (from 9 a.m.-6:30 a.m, Friday), at Presentation Parish, 4123
Robertson Avenue, Sacramento, 95821. To sign up, call Karen at (916) 712-3706, or
Marie at (916) 879-6088. People are needed from 12-6:30 p.m. on Thursdays,
especially.
