Persian Phonetic Keyboard Layout
Persian phonetic keyboard is for those interested to profit from their skill in typing with the
English keyboard (or similar keyboards such as French and German) to type in Persian much
faster. I have tried to order Persian characters so that by typing an English key you can type its
Persian equivalent. Regarding sounds having several characters in the Persian script (e.g. S's,
Z's), the most frequent character is available on the normal state of the keyboard and the other
characters are available on the Shift state (i.e. when you hold down the Shift key and press
another key).
NOTE Move your mouse over keys to learn about the character you can type with them
(depending on the state).
NOTE To locate keys easily, the characters printed on Latin keyboards are included below keys
in gray.

How to install
Please download and unzip perphon.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/?wbrosh2hy7mg91n). Open
the folder, click on setup.exe and wait for a while until a window appears indicating that
Persian (Phonetic) has been successfully installed. Click on Close button to exit. Now we
must add Persian as an input language to our computer and then adding "Persian (Phonetic)"
keyboard layout to it. Since doing this process varies depending on your operating system,
please refer to this page on sil.org (http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts
/page.php?item_id=KeyboardInstallationAndUse) for an illustrated guide on how to add input
languages and keyboard layouts on Windows XP, Vista and Seven. When doing the step of adding
Persian as an input language please note that this language is referred to as "Farsi" in Windows
XP and the earlier versions of Windows but correctly as "Persian" in Vista and Seven. And finally,
the name of this keyboard layout is "Persian (Phonetic)".
