C. Conditional sentences

There are 4 types of conditional sentences in English. However, in this unit we will work
just two: Zero and First conditional sentences.

1. The Zero Conditional

We can form zero conditional with two present simple verbs (one in the" if
clause", and one in the "main clause").
The zero conditional sentences is used when the result of the condition is
always true (like a scientific fact).

If clause Main clause
If you heat ice , it becomes water.
5

We can also use "when" instead of "if" without changing the meaning of the
sentence.
When you heat ice, it becomes water.

If the main clause comes first, we don't use the comma.

Ice becomes water if you heat it.
