Preparing for a 360 Assessment Experience
The purpose of the ULead 360 Assessment System is to provide useful feedback for
supporting the preparation and development of fully effective leaders. There are four steps
necessary to ensure that the assessment process results in a useful feedback report. Each
step is listed below and described more fully on the following pages.
1. Sign up and register for the online ULEAD 360 Assessment System
2. Identify individuals to serve as raters for your assessment.
3. Communicate the assessment purpose to each individual selected as a rater.
4. Complete the online self-assessment
There are two different assessments available in the ULead 360 Assessment System.
ULead 360 Leadership Competency Assessment
Of critical importance in supporting the preparation and development of leaders is an
articulation of leadership core competencies that clarify and prioritize research-based
standards that have significant impact on improving student learning and achievement. The
competencies that provide the focus for assessment in the ULead framework are:
Instructional Leadership
Equity and Social Justice
Culture, Climate, and Community

Leading Change
Human Resource Management
Organizational Management & Governance
ULead 360 Interpersonal Leadership Dispositions Assessment
Dispositions are recurring patterns of behavior that are influenced by conscious and
unconscious commitments to values and beliefs. This instrument is designed to assess four
specific dispositions that support the collaborative nature of work required for achieving
success in schools and address the social and emotional aspects of leading change.
A fully effective leader is VISIONARY
Visionary leaders establish a compelling view of the future and intentionally enlist others
in pursuit of a purposeful ideal by appealing to shared values.
A fully effective leader is ETHICAL
Ethical leaders embrace the responsibility for ensuring standards of moral conduct while
encompassing the concepts of duty and personal responsibility in the service of the
common good.
A fully effective leader is RESPONSIVE
Responsive leaders actively create an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful community
that values each member and embraces the challenge to ensure equity in all aspects of
the organization.
A fully effective leader is REFLECTIVE
Reflective leaders consistently and transparently examine their own assumptions,
beliefs and practices.

Select Raters to Complete the Assessment
The selection of raters is one of the most important factors in the overall success of your 360
feedback process. Immediate supervisors (sponsors) and designated mentors are expected
to be included as raters and the feedback report will include the individual ratings from these
two raters.
The leader who is being assessed will select between eight and twelve additional raters.
Direct reports and peers are likely to make up the remaining raters. The feedback from these
raters will only be reported as aggregate ratings to ensure anonymity for the raters. This is an
assurance that leaders should share with peers, direct reports, and other observers.
Record the names and e-mail addresses for each individual you intend to invite to serve as a
rater in the organizer below. Be sure to confirm that all e-mail addresses are correct.
