Client Requirements
Client is a well known EHR and practice management
software provider with a hosted ambulatory EHR solution.
The client wanted to enhahce the clinical quality reporting
capabilities of its EHR application. BI-Clinical was chosen
as a partner solution to provide comprehensive BI and
analytics capabilities for physicians.
The integrated solution needed to handle signicant
peak volumes (e.g., for data submission) and needed
to be tested for this capability. CitiusTechs test automa-
tion team was leveraged for performance testing of the
solution using a cloud-based test environment.

Requirements Analysis
CitiusTechs test automation team assessed the scale of
clients user base, data volume and data retention require-
ments. In addition, the team also understood the clients
internal infrastructure for performance testing.
Given the limitations of the internal environment,
CitiusTech recommended the use of Amazon EC2 - to
serve as the cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service provision
for their testing needs. Provide capability to dene clinical

Case Study: Leveraging Infrastructure-as-a-Service for Performance Testing
Development and Deployment
CitiusTech test automation team provisioned and
congured the required infrastructure on Amazon EC2. The
CitiusTech QA team accomplished the task by:
Simulating high data volume on Amazon EC2, similar
to production environmenrt, and concurrent access
by a large number of users
Leveraging the CDA parsing capabilities of BI-Clinical
to accept and process core clinical data from the
clients QA database
Calculating KPIs / measures from the EHR data using
BI-Clinical hosted on Amazon EC2
Rendering performance testing scorecards to be
accessed through the EHR user interface
