This book is the result of meticulous efforts to find the link between the patient and their related remedies in whole with the in-depth study of the nature of the source material( medicine) especially in the animal kingdom.. Dr Sankaran has developed this art of case taking so that one can visualise the song of a particular kingdom in patients on the deepest level. The phrase aude sapere has been translated by a German philosopher Immanuel Kant as dare to use your own mind, think by yourself, think uniquely or allow yourself to think differently and Dr Sankaran seems to have imbibed these lines to a great extent. This book is dealing with the mollusc and provides a deeper understanding of the source and substance of these soft bodied invertebrates and also teaches us how to identify the relatedness between patient --his gestures , mannerisms, expressions to that of a particular kingdom . This is a very interesting account of an aspect of marine biology, with systematic thorough background research into the classes and subclasses of the mollusca. There is very interesting description of bivalvia, gastropodia, cephalopoda. This information is very intricately incorporated with clear illustrations of cases in which the sensation method was successfully applied. In order to avail full benefit of this technique , the reader must go through his previous books The system of Homoeopathy and The Sensations in Homoeopathy. In his series of books on animal kingdom the author has used established taxonomic classification as guideline to study the qualities of each animal with the classes and subclasses. Regarding the availability of medicines used or mentioned in the book the author has very categorically stated that the remedy may not exist in the pharmacy ,so one should have to procure that particular source potentise it, as he has been doing. There are exhaustive case studies from various homeopaths to help us understand the subject. Book is concluded with an explanation of important words, phrases and rubrics, and their association with the group and subgroup under consideration. MOLUSCA is the first of his series on exploration of animal kingdom. This book is a very useful addition to the Homoeopathic literature which broadens our understanding of classical remedies ie SEPIA , MUREX ,CONCHIOLINUM etc. -Reviewed by Dr Sudha Banerjee, Chief Medical Officer, Dte. of AYUSH
