The modular offers
The modular offers are designed for studying and setting up pro-
ducts used in the residential, small services and industrial sectors.
The purpose of a modular offer is to enable users to create their own configurations using
energy training modules mounted on a supporting structure. These energy training modules
are designed to be linked and powered via a uniform connector in complete safety.
The operational parts of the modular offer can be used to connect a control part to a
system in order to simulate a simple real-life process; these control parts are also designed
to connect to certain operational parts of the 2013-2014 energy training solutions catalog,
by means of either converter sockets or D-sub connectors.
The auxiliary parts of the modular offer are designed to ensure that a configuration works
correctly.
The Modular Offers are made up of a variety of specific automation and energy management
components, depending on the offer type. There are seven offers:
The KNX modular offer for setting up components for the buildings and small
services sectors.
The Residential and Small Services modular offer for setting up the components of
an electrical installation for the home and small service industries.
The Solar modular offer for learning about the production of energy by solar panels.
The iRIO Telemetry offer for optimising energy consumption.
The Industry modular offer (control systems, motor starters & machine safety)
for setting up automation solutions.
Each modular offer can be tailor-made by buying the modules separately.

KNX MODULES
KNX BUS 160 POWER SUPPLY MODULE
The module is connected to the 230 V supply downstream of an appropriate
electrical protection device (230 VAC/10 A single-phase protection module,
reference MD1AM2 001).
It supplies the power for operating the KNX bus.
SYSTEM COUPLER MODULE
The system coupler module is used for the logical linking and galvanic
separation of lines and domains. A changeover switch allows you to switch
between "coupler" mode and "amplifier" mode.
In coupler mode the component is wired in parallel on the bus and creates a
new line (or zone).
In amplifier mode, the bus enters the component
for reformatting before exiting again.

KNX 4-OUTPUT MODULE
The KNX 4-output module can be used for independent switching with the
four outputs via NO or NC contact. All the outputs can be actuated manually
using selector switches on the product's front panel. A green LED indicates

The variable control actuator module can be used to switch and vary the
current of an output. The output can be actuated manually using the
pushbutton on the product's front panel.
A green LED indicates the module's operating status.

The module comprises a USB/KNX interface for programming or diagnostics.
A computer running ETS4 software is connected to the USB module by means
of the USB cable supplied.

If the current drawn exceeds the preset threshold, the load shedder
positioned just after the incoming circuit breaker temporarily (for 5 to 10
min) sheds circuits identified as non-priority. This prevents the nuisance
tripping of the incoming circuit breaker or allows the number of receivers
to be increased without changing the subscribed power demand or the
subscribed power demand to be reduced.
This contactor sheds two circuits in cascade (I and II) and reconnects them
in reverse order (II and I). The shed circuit is indicated by a yellow LED.
It includes a forced load shedding input.
The tripping set point can be set to:
5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30/ 40 / 45 / 50 / 60 / 75 and 90 A. It must not exceed the
value to which the upstream incoming circuit breaker is set.
For safety reasons, and to comply with the
wiring accessories used, do not set the load
shedder to a rating above 15 A. As we have
asked for the incoming circuit breaker to be
set to 15 A maximum, the load shedder will not
work if it is set above 15 A.

SOLAR PANEL MODULE
The polycrystalline solar panel module consists of an aluminium frame within
which is fixed a rectangular one-piece element containing the photovoltaic
cells.
A terminal block is fixed to the rear of the panel. It is fitted with red and blue
cables, with 4-mm safety connectors (cable length: 1 m) for fast connection
to the various modules.
When the solar panel is exposed to sunlight (or an appropriate light source),
it supplies electrical energy which after being regulated is used to recharge
a 12 V battery.
The energy stored in the battery is consumed by a 12 VDC - 230 VAC inverter,
which powers a 230 VAC - 15 W or 50 W lamp.
This solar panel can be laid or fixed in an
appropriate position facing the sun.

WATER METER MODULE
The water meter module consists of a measuring device for assessing the
water consumption of an installation.
A water meter is based on the principle that the volume of water flowing
through a pipe cannot be accurately measured: therefore the actual flow
rate is estimated. The only reliable method would be to measure the volume
introduced into a container over a defined period.
PT100 TEMPERATURE MODULE
The PT100 temperature module has a resistance of 100 Ohms at 0C and
138.5 Ohms at 100C. The Pt100 is no longer sufficient for meteorological
characterisation. The platinum resistance sensor (or platinum resistance
thermometer PRT) defined as an interpolation instrument by ITS-90
(International Temperature Scale of 1990) is the most sophisticated and can
be used for very high-precision measurements.
This sensor is used in conjunction with interpolating polynomials
corresponding to the temperature range in question as a means of
establishing the relation between platinum resistance and temperature.
Operational parts
The cost of water treatment is very high. Consumers
are increasingly being required to monitor and
accurately calculate their water consumption. The
installation of individual water meters (in homes,
businesses and industry, local authorities, etc.)
is inevitable, although there is still disagreement
about the best way to achieve it.
This sensor has a resistance of 25 Ohms at
the triple-point temperature of water and a
resistance of around 41 Ohms at the fixed-point
temperature of indium (156.5985C)

The USB interface simulator module connects the 3D SIMULATOR software

3D SIMULATOR is an educational software tool for teaching users how to
program industrial PLCs.
The simulated virtual environments are very true-to-life because of the total

This last standard (Safety Integrity Level SIL) takes account of the use of new

1/ISO 13849-1 CATEGORY 4
Safety module XPS AC5121 is used for monitoring emergency stop circuits
conforming to standards EN/ISO 13850 and EN/IEC 60204-1 and it also
meets the safety requirements for the electrical monitoring of switches in
protection devices conforming to standard EN1088/ISO14119.
It provides protection for both the machine operator and the machine
by immediately stopping the dangerous movement on receipt of a stop
instruction from the operator, or on detection of a fault in the safety circuit
itself.
EMERGENCY STOP AND LIMIT SWITCH MODULE
XPSAF5130 EN954-1 ISO 13849-1 CATEGORY 4
The safety module XPS AF5130 is designed in accordance with EN 954-1
category 4.
It is used for monitoring emergency stop circuits conforming to standards
EN/ISO13850 and EN/IEC60204-1.
For electrical monitoring of switches activated by protection devices
conforming to standard EN1088.
To aid diagnostics, the module has 3 LEDs on
the front panel which provide information on the
monitoring circuit status.
The Start button monitoring function is
configurable depending on the wiring.

CODED MAGNETIC SWITCH MODULE XPS DMB1132
EN954-1/ISO 13849-1 CATEGORY 4
The safety module XPS DMB1132 is designed for monitoring coded magnetic
safety switches. It features two safety outputs and two solid-state outputs for
signalling to the process PLC.
In compliance with EN 954-1/ISO 13849-1 category 4, the XPS DMB1132 module
can monitor two independent sensors. To monitor a larger number of sensors
using this safety module, the sensors can be connected in parallel series, in
compliance with the requirements of EN 954-1/ISO 13849-1 category 3.
TIME DELAY MODULE XPS TSA5142P EN954-1/ISO
13849-1 CATEGORY 3
The XPS TSA5142P safety module is used in applications requiring a safety
time delay with interlock on inertia machines (guards are unlocked at the end
of the safety time delay).
The time delay of safety circuits can be set to 16 preset values, using 2
selectors located on the front panel of the module.
To aid diagnostics, the module has LEDs which
provide information on the monitoring circuit
status and 2 solid-state outputs for signalling to
the process PLC.

ZERO SPEED MODULE XPS VNE1142P EN954-1/
ISO 13849-1 CATEGORY 3
The Preventa safety module XPSVNE11342P for zero speed detection is
used to detect the stop condition of electric motors. Their most common
applications include: providing the unlock signal for electrically interlocked
movable machine guards, controlling rotation direction signals for reversing
motors and engaging locking brakes after a motor has come to a standstill.
When electric motors slow down, a remanent voltage is produced in the
windings of the motor due to residual magnetism. This voltage is proportional
to the speed of the motor and therefore decreases as the motor slows.
This remanent voltage is measured in a redundant manner so as to detect
the stop condition of the motor.
The cabling between the motor windings and the
inputs of the XPS VNE module is also monitored to
prevent a stoppage being simulated in the event of
a broken cable.
A transformer should not be used to connect the
motor to terminals Z1, Z2 and Z3 since there is
no monitoring of the connection with the motor
winding via the resistance monitoring.

Operational part
MACHINE SAFETY BENCH MODULE
The operational part simulates a machine movement protected by a grid and
a fan which also has a grid.
o In the top left, a movable protective casing together with two limit
switches labelled S01 and S02. Next to each limit switch, the 6 corresponding
safety sockets for connection purposes.
Behind the protective casing is an asynchronous motor with reducer and
exposed disc. This device can be used to simulate a machine in operation.
Underneath are the 6 corresponding safety sockets U1 - V1 - W1 and U2 - V2 -
W2 together with a male green/yellow earth socket for connection purposes.
o In the top right, a movable protective casing together with a limit
switch labelled S03 and a safety limit switch with interlock and solenoid lock
labelled S1/Y1. Next to the limit switch S03, the 6 corresponding safety sockets
for connection purposes.
Below the safety limit switch with electrical interlock, safety sockets labelled
S1 for the corresponding contacts and Y1 for the corresponding solenoid.
Behind the protective casing is a 230 VAC fan, which can be used to simulate
a high-inertia machine.
In the centre is a mushroom head emergency stop button and the
corresponding 4 safety sockets.

LAMP + DALI BALLAST MODULE
The operational part comprises a lamp and a DALI BALLAST.
DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a non-proprietary standard
interface for electronic dimming ballasts offering improved functionality and
ease of use. Up to 64 DALI electronic ballasts can be controlled with a high
degree of flexibility by means of a control line with two connectors, either
individually or in up to 16 groups without addresses.
DALI offers almost limitless possibilities. Lighting
control, cubicles, operating devices, electronic
ballasts and lamps, all are covered by this
standard professional interface. Unrestricted
two-way communication allows top-quality
management of light. DALI a common interface
for all components.
LAMP + 1 - 10 V BALLAST DIMMER MODULE
The operational part comprises a lamp and a 1 - 10 V ballast dimmer and
consists of a 15 W incandescent lamp. It is designed to be used as a load on
KNX modules, for example.
Dimmers are static converters which convert a FIXED alternating current into
a VARIABLE current.
Startup and dimming are controlled from the
command line. There is no need to install relays.
Important information such as lamp status
is stored in the ballast and available to the
controller.

The ZIGBEE CONTROL STATION module uses the ZigBee compatible
wireless and batteryless protocol. It is the most widely used protocol in the
