2. 2. Beginning Use

2.1 )!arge t!e batter#
M%0#& comes with a built'in polymer rechar(eable battery and is
desi(ned to use only manufacture'specified ori(inal batteries and
accessories. )hen the battery is low, please char(e it timely.
)!arge b# )!arger
*lu( one terminal of the char(er into the power adapter socket, and the
other to the power ack of the device to char(e it.
2.2 Use t!e storage card
Insert t!e storage card
The stora(e card slot is on the ri(ht panel, ust insert the T+ +lash card
with its (old contacts facin( down and push it in until it licks into place.
Browse "iles in t!e storage card
To browser the files in the stora(e card, do one of the followin(,

run -+ile Mana(er to view files in the stora(e card

you can also install and run any other third party file browser
applications
*emove t!e storage card
.imply push the stora(e card in to eect it from its slot.
To avoid data loss or dama(e, please stop usin( files/ pro(rams in the
stora(e card before remove the T'+lash card, and then tap Settings0
Storage0 Unmount S+ card to remove it safely.

!. Make sure the location and direction of the stora(e card is correct
when insertin(, otherwise it is easy to cause dama(e/destroy to
the stora(e card.
". To avoid incompatibility or unreco(ni1ed of the stora(e card, maor

brands of stora(e card are recommended.
2./ 0ot plug o" storage card
1lease do not !ot plug t!e storage card w!en using or browsing its
"iles.
+or example, when you are runnin( the Music/2ideo *layer/ 3allery, the
stora(e card may dama(e if you push out the stora(e card directly and the
runnin( pro(ram will stop automatically to protect the device. 4s for details of
insertin(/removin( stora(e card, see 2.2 Use the storage card.
2.2 Memor# space
The device contains " memory spaces, local stora(e 5 extended stora(e
card. 6ocal stora(e appears as -6ocal7 and extended stora(e card as
-89T.:7 in the device. The capacity of built'in flash varies from $3;, &3;
and !63; because of different model of the M8!" series. The built'in flash
capacity of your device depends on the model your purchased. M8!" series
support extended stora(e card of capacity maximum #"3;.
2.3 1ower on4o""
!. 1ower on: press down the *ower ;utton to turn on the device when the
battery is full enou(h
". 1ower o"": press down the *ower ;utton for about # seconds and then a
menu with options will popup, select 1ower 5"" to turn off the device

options will popup, select a screen lock pattern to shutdown the screen to
save battery life. *ress down the *ower ;utton a(ain to activate the
locked <ome !"

the screen.

2.8 )onnect to wireless networ7s
To connect to a wireless network, you should follow,
!. tap Settings on the <ome screen=

$. the network names and security settin(s of detected )i'+i networks
are displayed in the )i'+i networks section=
%. tap a )i'+i network to connect. If you selected an open network, you
will be automatically connected to the network. If you selected a network that
is secured with )8*, enter the key and then tap )onnect.
:ependin( on the network type and its security settin(s, you may also need to
enter more information or choose a security certificate.

the status bar.

/. /. 0ome Screen
The <ome screen is your startin( point to access all the features on you
device. It displays application icons, wid(ets, shortcuts, and other features.
@ou can customer the <ome screen with different wallpaper5 wid(ets and
display items you want. .ee the Personalizing chapter.
)hen you si(n in, the <ome screen opens.
Sleep mode
.leep mode suspends your device to a low power state while the display
is off in order to save battery power. @ou will still be able to receive messa(es
and calls while the device is in .leep mode.
A?oteB, If the device in sleep mode more than #0 minutes, the device will
automatically turn off to save electricity.
Switc! to sleep mode
tap .ettin(s0:isplay0.leep and select a time interval for .leep Mode in
the option menu prompted. The device will automatically shutdown the
display screen when there is no operation on the screen for a period of
time.

To wake up your device manually, press the *ower ;utton. @ou will then
see that the device has locked the screen.
Unloc7ing t!e screen
*ress the bar on the lock screen and then slide your fin(er
leftwards/ri(htward to unlock the screen.
Browse 0ome Screen
@ou can (o to the extended <ome screen by slidin( your fin(er
hori1ontally across the screen to (o to the left or ri(ht side of the <ome
screen. Tap the icon to view all applications on your device.

The status bar Cas the aboveD presents media volume, networks condition,
battery condition, time and so on. )hen an application is runnin(,

)hile dra((in(, do not release your fin(er until you have reached the tar(et
position.
*otate: +or most screens, you can automatically chan(e the screen
orientation from portrait to landscape by turnin( the device sideways. )hen
enterin( text, you can turn the device sideways to brin( up a bi((er keyboard.

@ou can copy music, photos/pictures and others to your device to personali1e
your device.
!. Fse the F.; cable that came with your device to connect it to a F.; port
on your computer.

web search are shown as a list. The su((ested items that appear will depend

Ghoose from the available selections of notification rin(tones on your device.
@ou can also download or copy notification rin(tones or son(s to your deviceK
stora(e card and choose one to use as your notification rin(tone. To find out
how you can copy files to your stora(e card, see -Gopin( files to and from the
stora(e card7.

". Tap the notification rin(tone you want to use. The notification rin(tone
briefly plays when selected.

*ersonali1in( your <ome screen wallpaper with your favorite photo is a Iuick
and easy way to chan(e the feel of your device and (ive it a fresh look.
;rowse the collection of wallpapers included in your device or choose from
photos that you have taken with the camera.
To chan(e your <ome screen or lock screen wallpaper,
!. on the <ome screen press o prompt the )!oose wallpaper "rom
menu as follows,

your convenience. @ou can add more from the available selections of wid(ets,
or download more wid(ets.

*ress and hold the application shortcut and dra( it onto another shortcut to

create a folder for the applications you want to file to(ether, and then release
your fin(er to finish creatin( a folder. @ou can dra( any other application
shortcut into the new folder.

icons that you donHt freIuently use.
Moving a widget or icon
!. *ress and hold the wid(et or icon you want to move.
@ouHll see a yellow box around the wid(et or icon. :onHt release your
fin(er.
". :ra( the wid(et or icon to a new location on the screen.
*ause at the left or ri(ht ed(e of the screen to dra( the wid(et or icon onto
another <ome screen panel.
#. )hen the wid(et or icon is where you want it, release your fin(er.
If youHve released your fin(er but a messa(e shows that thereHs no space
to place the wid(et or icon, dra( it ri(ht or left a(ain to another <ome
screen panel.

downloaded on your computer into your stora(e card or local memory=

To dismount the pro(ram, you can also use functions of +ile Mana(er

Introduction to 9ile Manager
>n the <ome screen, tap the file mana(er icon to open it as follows,

Tap to open the tool box for process info and application backup

In the above screen, you can search a wanted file Iuickly and you can also
mana(e your files in the local disk and your stora(e card. In addition, you can
create/rename file folderCsD and uninstall a third party application.

itemCsD in, then press and hold the folder until the 9older operation menu
popup, select 1aste into 9older.

Searc!: when you do not know the definite location of an item or there are
