Plan, elevation & systems design for Automated public toilets At Icarus Design, Bangalore As Design Intern May-Jul 2011 The design research involved sketching up end-user extreme stereotypes, to keep different kinds of user habits in mind, while also considering viewpoints of secondary users like janitors and service crew. Differenct aspects of toilet etiquette in the Muslim culture were also studied as the units were being designed for installation in the Middle-East. Focus was to make the entire operation at the facilty completely touch free. One unit was to be for use by handicapped people. Care wastaken to provide additional support and adequate space for the same. User Research User Research The project was for designing automated public toilets for installation in the Middle East. The client would make revenue from selling ad space on the walls of the utility, hence focus was on nding innovative ways to display advertisements, while giving the building a distinct identity. Experience design for Milan Design Week 2014 For Ofcine Tamborrino At Milan Design Week Feb-Mar 2014 Goals Concept & Exhibit To design an experience for Ofcine Tamborrinos exhibit at the Milan Design Week, highlighting the values of the company. The company made modular steel furniture for home and ofce use. Concept Actual pictures from Design Week exhibit About OT Ofcine Tamborrino is a two-year old project by Scaff Systems who specialized in steel mezzanines. This years exhibit at Ventura Lambrate Zone of Milan Design Week required an interactive experience to engage visitors, while conveying the principal characteristics of the product identity. The Work A team of 4 students helped OT design and realise the interactive wall using product tiles held onto a steel wall using magnets. Changing positions of the object showcased modularity of the offering and the magnets emphasized the usage of steel. As a class of MDS students, we also conceived a stamp catalouge and a viral marketing campaign. Teams had to forecast scenarios in the future, considering new trends and social behaviours. Teams were given cards to expxlore diverse trends predicted for the future. We selected Home Hospi- tal Active Farming Classes Sustainability Learni- ng & Sustainable Companionship. Work The team of 4 designed a service in Health-care, based in Mexico City, where a soceity would engage in community services like farming as a part of a sustainable preventive health-care system. We conceived a vision, the service blueprint, and enacted a skit to depict the storyboard for the end-user. Designing an Exhibition with Marco Sammichelli At Politecnico di Milano 2 week workshop - Jan 2014 The team of four visited various museums in Milan. We selected items which inspired us to paint the story about the certainities & fantasies of ancient sailors. Besides the mood of the curation, we also designed an atmosphere, layout and chose a apt location for the exhibit. By exploring the archives of the house museums located in Milan, select some works and plan the project for a temporary exhibition. Develop a curatorial statement, discuss the curatorial approach and method used for selection of works. The exhibit was inspired from some of the brilliant displays at Poldi Pezzoli, and from the projected dreams of sailors in the 14th-16th century. Studied actantial models, semiotic squares and canonical narrative schemes for articulating the proposed service as a dramatic story. Made a sketch for a narrative video for the service The odd couple as described. Chose the story as a treasure hunt by a pirate and his captain as comrades, with the service as a helper. Images for the representational presentation were taken from a movie The Pirates, who own copyrights. To explore the techniques of storytelling, going to the source of the traditional corpus of narrative semiotics. We developed a narrative storyboard for the descri- ption of a service designed for the Milan Design W- eek. To study the synergies between designer & artist in a space& skill sharing collobaration for exhibitions, we spoke to practicers in Tortona and Ventura zones. Work Goals Inspiration Ar unav Kanor i a Excerpts from the presentation Tortona The odd couples: 1 designer + 1 artisan During the Tortona Design Week it happens very often that the artisans of the district rent their laboratories to the designers for exhibition purposes. With 300 merchants onboard in a short span of 2 years, the service is now operated by Delhivery. About ZAP The service was intended to facilitate mobile money transfers between users holding accounts in different banks. Our team negotiated with the Reserve Bank of India and all other private and state institutions so as to become a bridge. The mobile app would be a free service for P2P transa- ctions, with a small fee for merchant transactions. Below are some of the screens designed during the alpha-testing. The assembly of the front frame of this 5 ton wheel loader required welding each plate in a at position to prevent ow of metal while welding. Consequently maneuvering a 1500+ kg job and holding it still while a joint is brought into this desired position would require enormous amounts of physical labor. To design a process and set of xtures for assembly of the front frame of a 5 tonne wheel loader. From the wheel. The constraints required the job to be welded in horizontal positions only.
