The Maasin City Football Club or MCFC were proclaimed the Champions
against the defenseless Baybay during the championship game of futsal in Batang
Pinoy held here at Maasin City last September 2428 with a score of 20.
Two players of MCFC are from the College of Maasin, Brandonn Neil Tia
(DEFENSE), and Frederic Jasper Sembrano (GOAL KEEPER). Both of them contributed
their liters of sweat to MCFC. An hour before their nal game, the MCFC got ready for
their awaited match unl the opening minutes of the game. At rst, the MCFC were
rst shaking their nerves but suddenly, there blood rose higher and both teams
showed their swarmed defense, powered kicks, and tricky placing. But MCFC tried
their best for their team. In the middle of the rst half, Baybay revealed their ironed
defense unl suddenly, Lian Nathaniel Aring from Maasin Chrisan Academy scored a
goal from the niy unpredictable pass from Brandonn Neil Tia. MCFC celebrated for a
while unl the buzzer rung and ended the rst half with a score of 10. When the sec
ond half began, Baybay furiously dribbled the ball and they released tremendous kicks
to Frederic Sembrano, but MCFCs goalkeeper did not allow even one goal because all
of it was saved. MCFC needed revenge so they entered Arbby Kenneth Gamulo from
Maasin City Naonal High School. MCFC whirled Baybay with their tricky passes unl
the ball was passed to Gamulo, he hurriedly dribbled the ball and he unleashed a
wrecking ball kick and led MCFC to score. Baybay were shocked and thought that an
eternal blizzard passed through them. MCFC won with a score of 20 while team Bay
bay went home with a face weighing more than a kilo.
Aer all their hard work, MCFC are now honored because they were the
only team represenng the City of Maasin who got the gold in Batang PinoyVisayas

CAT SERVES COMMUNITY
CM HIGH SCHOOL holds DRUG Symposium
The C.A.T Class, Batch 20132014 of the High School Department of The College Of
Maasin conducted a community service at The College Of Maasin, in relaon with the
improvement of the segregaon of biodegradable and nonbiodegradable wastes in the campus.
The two secons of the fourth year class headed by Mr. Gerry Carbonilla were
grouped as one to segregate the trashes. By this acvity students in their simple ways can help
maintain the cleanliness of the school.
Such acvity was conducted to mold the students to become more useful, not to be a
professional garbage collector, but a responsible cizen in their own lile way.
Many people died there because of the reason that they
themselves did not know what storm surge meant.
The Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) is the naonal guiding associaon for girls and
young women of the Philippines. Its mission is "to help girls and young women realize the ideals
of womanhood and prepare themselves for their responsibilies in the home, and to the naon,
and the world community." The girlsonly associaon serves now a million members.
Last October 25,2013, the Elementary Department of The College of Maasin had a Boy
and Girl Scoung Acvity. In the morning, they had an opening program. Then, the Boys Scouts
and Girls Scouts were separated for the acvies.
Mrs. Ordiz was the one who was with the Junior Girl Scouts and another facilitator for
the seniors. She told the Juniors about the history of Girl Scoung. She taught them songs about
scoung. Then they had a lm showing about the Girls Scouts aerwards.
In the aernoon Mrs. Ordiz and a Girl Scout taught them how to make things such as
woods and ropes useful when scoung in the woods. The acvity was very informave and fun.
At 5oclock in the aernoon all scouts had dinner with the other scouters together
with our teachers at the Alumni Court. Then aer that, they had a Torch Parade. Aer the pa
rade, they had a Bonre. A program ensued aerwards. Each grade level had a presentaon.
The whole Girl and Boy Scout Acvity was a blast.

Last Nov.6, 2013, the PAGASA
reported that there is a super typhoon and
believes to be traversing in the Philippines.
It has maximum sustained winds at 280
km/h and is said to landfall in Eastern Visa
yas particularly in Guian, Eastern Samar.
The government already warned the people
about the dangers that might happen. They
prepared the evacuation centers for the
people whose houses are located along the
coastal areas or are not sturdy enough to
withstand the strong winds. The govern
ment oficials cautioned the people about
the dangers of having a storm surge. Nov.7,
2013, the typhoon became much stronger
reaching up to 315 km/h in wind speed
because it rapidly absorbs large amount of
water and air while its on its route towards
the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
On Nov.8, 2013, at 4 in the morn
ing, the roaring Yolanda started. It had its
irst landfall in Guian, Eastern Samar then in
Tacloban City. The winds were very, very
strong. On the aftermath, many houses,
trees, electric posts and even cars were
washed away. Tacloban was in a state of
calamity. Almost all houses in the coastal
areas were smashed or crushed away. Many
people died there because of the reason
that they themselves did not know what
storm surge meant. Some were not aware
on what will the typhoon bring and hard
ened their heads to stay on their spot. Death
tolls reached up to 5,959 but many still
think that there were still many dead bodies
not yet recovered. The roads were impassa
ble and cellular sites were destroyed so it is
very dificult for help to reach there. The
survivors were left homeless. All were hun
gry, thirsty and wept for the death of their
loved ones. The children experienced trau
mas after witnessing the catastrophe with
their two naked eyes. Because help did not
reach immediately, they had no choice but
to loot the establishments for food and
other things for survival. Typhoon Yolanda
was reported as the strongest typhoon yet
recorded in the world. Scientists said that
many typhoons far stronger than Yolanda
are still coming in the near future.
As of now, the DOH is continually retriev
ing the dead bodies in the affected areas
and relief efforts are still ongoing. Some of
the European and Asian countries helped by
donating relief goods and other necessary
items for survival. The people are gradually
trying to move on and face another chapter
of their lives after Yolanda drastically dev
astated their area. But in reality, it will take
years to rehabilitate the place.

A mediocre teacher TELLS, A good teacher EXPLAINS, A superior teacher demonstrates, and A great

A teacher from The College of Maasin is a very unique type of teacher, scary yet funny; at mes she
gets mad easily but then from her simple gestures the fear you will feel will suddenly vanish. She is the type of
teacher that can be a Mother, and a friend.
You can tell her anything you want; Problems or good news, either way she always gives you advices
that you can use, advices that inspires you, advices that is quite complicated but makes sense, advices that com
forts you and keeps you calm, advices that are a bit funny but makes you realize about things.
She is a very honest, and a frank type of person, she says what she really feels inside. She speaks the
truth but in a good way.
But before reaching this type of person she told us she have experienced pain in and out of her life, but
despite of this pain she strives more posively, because pain molded her in to a stronger person, because pain
transformed a girl into a woman, it turned her in to a mature person that is ready to face anything for her family
and for her future.
Presently, she is here in The College of Maasin, teaching, and inspiring students to strive more for their
near future. A mother of 3 children and a wife of a great man, and a teacher of crazy students.
She is a great inspiraon for all of us, most especially for students who think they cannot reach anything
because of LACK. For me, Mrs. Hernadith Vallota is a really great teacher, a really great inspiraon, a really great
mother, and a really great friend.

THE FOURTH FINGER OF THE LEFT HAND
Myth or not, Vena Amoris it has. Whooooosh Thats what it speaks of.
It has always been a part of the physiology of the human race. And it has al
ways been a tesmony of the UNDYING love and aecon we Homo Sapiens
kept on exhibing into this humanplace, since me immemorial. Because of
this, it assumes it has a least amount of privilege to portray its point, though
it is not the poinng nger, right?
So, let me start with this, Ive always wondered if the next heartbeat is com
ing, have you human? You, who have so much to live for, have you ever
counted the seconds that cks away your life?
Hatoday, its not the worst disorder that which renders the body morbid,
but the process of death itself. And everything associated with itthe griev
ing process, the lost loved one, the situaonal crisis, the experience of living a
life knowing and accepng the fact that we will someday lose someone we
love, and facing life eye to eye and telling intently that death is not the end.
We are here nding soluons to what might result to death, either of a loved
one, or of a relaonship to God, family, community, etc. In straight thought,
we stop death. That at some point, we lived our lives in terms of me, like for
how long, and just forget about what its worth. How long we live our lives
does not tell how worthy of a life we lived. Somemes, numbers lie, and what
a 60 can do, makes no dierence to what a 10 can do. What maers most is
the quality of what we do to the best eort of what we are able to do and
what we are supposed to do.
We are here preserving the simple premise that we wanted to stay alive, to
stay young, to stay breathing and to do what it is that we need to do. No
oense to suicide. I guess death indeed gets the nal say, how hard we might
try to postpone it. Its the only thing that cant be undone.
When someone we love dies, it renders us helpless and nonfunconal. And
some say it is the most painful thing on Earth, well I dont know what cancer
could say to that. It is in moments like these, that life gets 100% real. You
tend to see, hear, and feel everything. Its like the world is magnied on you,
and you got the spotlight for the whole networking sites to see, judge,
comment, oh come on you know what I mean.
Although death is painful, it is in itself a teacher, a strict one. What doesnt
kill you make you stronger that is what they say; well what kills someone
we love make us stronger, thats what I say. Holds true too, right? When you
are dealing with death, it helps you to rediscover yourself. Death is like a co
coon, you need to experience the process of metamorphosis in order to re
mind you of the life thats given to you. So why waste a life that nature has
given me to make? Give worth to your life. Although, I respect those that
view life as not worth living, maybe at least, think of Him and those people
who see you as the one who makes their lives worth living.
Somemes, I have seen, in the ambulance or even in the saddest corners of
hospitals, what might be the last thought a human being sees? When the
world around you gets blurry and you take your last breath, would it be the
end of thought? Is it the end of life? And how would it feelpainful, scary, or
peaceful? Do we sll have me to think of the regrets in our lives, funny mo
ments, awkward mistakes, or facial features of someone we love, or even
certain parts of our home? What do we do when we die? Just lie there and
wait for God or take a walk to a certain place?

Truth alone
triumphs.
This is a tribute to all students and a dedicaon
to my father and his chromosomes.
...connued from page 7 (the Fourth Finger)

Since my fathers death, life has never been the same
in the family. It was like the wheel of fortune has
turned around and it was least expected. At rst, it
was hard and unacceptable, and like every human
being, weve tried to stop death too, unl we reached
acceptance and move on with our lives. He was long
gone, but in our minds, in our hearts, in our blood, he
sll remains. A part of me is him. Yeah, life ends and
thats a fact.
Now, that Im embarking on this journey of walking on
the road where he was once traveling. Lile did I know
of how strong and of how great a father he was. He
will never witness and see his sons grow and be a
man, live a life and build a family.
Therefore, no maer what happens to us in this world,
learn to appreciate the value of your parents before
they die, cherish every moment of it with them, and
build a strong foundaon in your life, for you to stand
on when the me comes and theyre long gone.
This wring has got to lend a hand, for people to move
on yet sll appreciate the grieving process, and not
just keep the pain locked in a chest inside your cere
brum. Accept it, dont hide it. As I pondered, there are
many issues of life and death, that if we share to oth
ers the pain we feel, we will heal. Death is just a part
of life. How we are grateful for this life, the same goes
with death.
Time. This is another thing we need to consider. Make
the most of your me. Reading this would be one of it.
Valuing this is another thing. And pung this into ap
plicaon is a bonus on my part.
Find comfort in these words, and make the lines be
etched in your memory. Praccal lessons make prac
cal sense. With these wring, always keep in mind that
you are not alone, you are never alone. Always be
thankful to God for everything. And by everything, you
know what I mean.
Life connuesyet sll, the fourth nger of the le
hand bothers you.
This is a tribute to all students and a dedicaon to my
father and his chromosomes.

For no one can catch up every moment loss
We cant bring the past to its future
Because no such machine as me travel capsule

Time is great to cherish
Cause its value is of no price
Every relaonship needs to nurture such me
In order to be stronger and entwine

Everyone believe that me heal all wounds
Lile by lile its cure and fold
Every second, every minute gradually unfold

bilis mag salita.

Take out: yung teacher na mahilig sa home work, nish at home acvity
at higit sa lahat mahilig sa research at iba pang mga eklabush na take out sa
bahay.

Pero kahit paminsan minsan ay naiinis tayo sa mga guro naten, pero we
should appreciate them kasi kung wala sila anong use ng mga A BA KA DA
at 12345678? kung wala sila, anong use ng x=0 at mga intercept nayan. Kung
wala sila we cant value books, at higit sa lahat kung wala sila ang salitang
mga ito ay walang kahulugan.

PROSE AND POETRY

PROCRASTINATE

Been imagining a world with no me
Where idleness is an art
Where present and early does not rhyme
And everyday does not part

Oh how good to smell the owers
And wander and to play
Where goals and priories cowers
Signaling the fun of the day.
To be blamed
Katya 27

Walking along the shore
Sea breeze was piercing to my skin
Teardrops to that cold oor
Oh where could I lean?
Melancholy staring at the blank pages
This melodramac wave that seizes
A jigsaw, scaered pieces
Running through my body, a diseases
A wave in the ocean
A great commoon
Living in a prison cell
Holding me back where I fell
The gorgeous heinous way they did
Gradually breaking me in silence
Those echoing peevish words theyve said
Making my head roll such disturbance
So I came up with a deep thought
Asking why I didnt fought
Asking why I let my guard o
Asking why Im being so
Im weak if this other side of me rises
Haunng me down, a devil chases
Frowning around, Im sick of it

Kissing the ground, dirty feet
I said I cant because Im not a believer
I lted because the wall was bigger
You slap me with your big mouth, are you a
joker
Im not a boomerang, Im not that beer
Easily to be drowned because I think things
will not change
Or is it my blind opmism to be blame?

Bad Company
Fritzie May A. Tindoy

You met him once in your youth
Have faith in him without second thoughts
For he lend a hand to grasp and to hold
He seems to comfort you when your troubled
But you have doubted me one day
As he demanded to be with you all the way
And as he steals every penny in you pocket
Like a termite, he undermines you health
Its sad to note his dark side lately
Quit on him for his a friend unworthy
For as you while with him your precious me
Undoubtedly, youll gonna lose your life and
your prime

Our Past May Wind
Fritzie May A. Tindoy

Lonely am I and waing
With sorrows my heart is aching
Watching the me of pain to pass
And the fall of the wall that divide us
The cold air is blowing low
Triggers me to remember you
Treasuring the good old days behind
Awaits that our past may wind
Yes, me is fast and eeng
And everything is constantly changing
But theres one thing forever le
My love for that I always kept
People come and people go
I was le with nothing to do
For seasons isnt fair
When you steal my heart away without care
Somemes I nearly burst into tears
How to control my anxiees and fears
To recover my defeat or losses
For the love that I greatly obsess
Though its nished and over
Sll I fantasized like a dreamer
Treasuring the good old days behind
Awaits that our past may wind

Our Parents Love
Luigi Misael Paigan

The love of our parents is genuine
Its like a gem in a ring.
I am so happy that it is true.
My parents love me and you.
The love of my parents is thick.
It is like a peaceful sck.
My mother and father love us
Just like a helpful bus.
My parents love is pure.
They make us secure.
Every day they say I LOVE YOU
And it makes me feel blue.

Father
Charlize Jalleca Geraldo

My father works all night
To feed his family right.
To aend his meeng, he wakes up early.
He owes a salary that will go to his family.
My father plays with me,
Beside and under a tree.
He also plays with mother,
His works never bother.
He somemes cooks our food,
Believe me it tastes good.
My father loves me dearly,
He reads me a story dearly.
He saves me when mom is angry.
He teaches me to say sorry.
He takes care of me when Im sick.
Especially when I cannot speak.
My father is the best,
He never stays at rest.
He does what he can
To be a brave man.
As the head of the family,
I admire him greatly.

UNBREAKABLE TIE
Erick John Putan

Friendship will always grow,
That makes your heart glow.
Love for friend is might,
So that you will be right.
Friend loves at all mes,
And you will always be mine.
Love will last longer,
Unl forever.
Friends can make you laugh,
They cant make your heart rough.
Friendship makes you beauful,
So I am so thankful.

A Poem For My Family

Family is a miracle God has given me.
With great wisdom and gentleness
He picked who my father and mother will
be.
A promise of love and sacrice blossom,
The one that lasts forever.
That is how my family came to be.
God never make mistakes,
His plan is true and perfect.
A family will be in trouble and gone is
respect.
But, in Gods hand, everything will be
alright.
Always think, family is worth the ght.
If a family lives in devoon to the Al
mighty.
Then will everyone learn,
The value and importance of family.
My love and understanding of God,
Will show and guide.
What there is to know, how to embrace
my family
With pride.
I intend to treasure this miracle in my
heart.
Today is denitely the best me to start.
Unless you have other plans.
