The eddy current method is based on the principle of generating
circular electrical currents in a material under test, this ia
achived by the use of a driving alternating magnetic field
(Primary Field). The current flow induced within the inspected
material, will itself produce a magnetic field (Secondary Field)
in oppostion to the primary field inducing it, this is according
to Lenz`s law. Measurement of the primary and secondary field
and the interaction between the currents generated and the
material can be observed. If the electrical currents find an
obstruction (defect damage) they have to change their flow
direction, which influences the secondary induced field and
the primary inducing field. This change of the resultant fields
produces a change of electrical impedance measured across a
bridge circuit connected to the primary field, this bridge
imbalance can be accurately measured. The amplitude of the
induced current reflects the volume of material loss and the
depth of defect. By this principle the detection of material
inhomogenities is possible.
In addition accurate measurement of electrical phase shifting
can aid defect depth analysis.

Tankfloor
The SLOFEC FloorScanners allow to inspect tankfloors with
wall-thickness up to 30 mm and coatings up to 10 mm in a
more effective way, than other methods. The SLOFEC
FloorScanners are designed to cover the maximum of
inspectable areas - including areas unreachable for other
systems.
Pipes & Pipelines
PipeScanners for external scan are designed for wall-thickness
up to 25 mm and surface coatings or wraping up to 7 mm.
The actual design of the PipeScanners allow the inspection of
sample temperatures up to 120C. Pipes from 1 diameter up
to flat can be inspected at high speed.
Vessels & Drums
According to the accessibility, vessels an drums with wall-
thickness up to 30 mm can be inspected with the SLOFEC
Scanners from the inside or the outside. Large diameter
underground vessels can be effectivly inspected without
scaffolding by use of Megasus Manipulator.
