Subject: Feasibility Report on Potential Research Topics for Formal Report

Purpose of Report
The purpose of this report is to compare information and choose between three of
my potential topics for the final formal report. After analyzing the feasibility and
comparing information, I will decide the best suited and most advantageous topic
for my formal report.

Formal Report Topics
The three potential topics under comparison in this report are as follows:
Stay away from your phone
Music improves brain function
How temperature affects people emotions

Reasons and Evaluation
The reasons for evaluating these three research topics are as follows:
To decide a topic that interests me.

To confirm that the topic has enough amount of secondary and scholarly
sources.
To determine that the topic point of view is controversial.
To decide that the topic is technical.
Criteria for Report
The criteria for the report are as follows
Interests The research topic needs to be interesting not only to me but also
to the readers.
Sources The research topic must have at least eight secondary courses and
three of which must be scholarly sources
Pros/ Cons The pros of the topics must out weight the cons to build an
effective argument.
Technical The core idea and information must be science and technology
based.

Focus on Research Topics
The focus of the three research topics are as follows:
Stay Away From Your Phone - The Stay Away From Your Phone topic
would focus on how the advancement of phone has change our life, the
psychological reason that we always look at our phone and the reason that
we should look at our phone less.
Music Improves Brain Function The Music Improves Brain Function
topic would focus on how music helps human nervous system. In a way that
it could help on working, studying and relaxing.

Affects People Emotions topic would focus on how the temperature changes
peoples temperament.

Research Topic Evaluation
Stay Away From Your Phone This topic has a high interest level; many
people encourage it on the discussion board. The secondary resources are
easily located and accurate in information but decent in amount. The Pros is
that it is a current issue and highly controversial. The cons is that nowadays
smartphones are too convenient to be not carried around all the time. The
technical aspect of this report is decent, I couldnt think of any other
scientific proof except psychological.
Music Improves Brain Function This topic has a very high interest level
since I was a concert pianist. The secondary resources are easily located but

decent in amount too. The pros is that there are experimental proof source
and highly controversial. The cons is that these experiments are only
certified to a certain genre of music, and everyone has their preference of
music genre. The technical aspect of this report is high, not only
psychologically, also biologically.
How Temperature Affects People Emotions This topic has a medium
interest level. The secondary resources are low. The pros is that there is
graph on internet resources to prove the theory. The cons is the lack of
scholarly article. The technical aspect of this report is very high since it
involves Geographic. Biology, Physics and Psychology.

Conclusion

According to the criteria comparison, Music Improves Brain Function has the
highest total score out of the three potential research topics. Stay Away From Your
Phone has the most balanced score out of three. Music Improves Brain Function
has the highest interests score but lack of sources. How Temperature Affects
people Emotions has the lowest of everything except the technical score.
Recommendation
Given the sum of score of Interests, sources, pros, cons, and technical; Music
Improves Brain Function is the best research topic for my formal report. The
chosen topic will provide me with the sufficient technical level and controversial
subject matter needed for the formal report.

Flesch-Kincaid grade level = 9.7

I changed the sub-topic to 16 fonts size, and everything to 14. I changed also
the font type to Times. Also I added the heading with my last name. And the
spacing is 1.5. I like this better because it is Clearer to read and I like my
name and the instructor name to be italic too. Other than just bold the topic,
making the size bigger, makes everything looks neat too.
