Professional Golf Turf Management School: Three-Week Preparatory Short Course
Course Description and Content
Acquire knowledge, skills and confdence to help build a rewarding career in turf management. Class will run
Monday through Friday, January 12-30, 2015, from 8:30am to 3:30pm. Our hands-on program covers:
Turf Establishment/Management: Seeding, sprigging, sodding, mowing, watering, fertilizing and cultivating
Turfgrass Diseases, Insects and Weeds: Identifcation and chemical/cultural methods of control
Turf Morphology and Agronomic Principles: Grass and seed selection and breeding
Plant Science and Landscape Management: Identifcation, selection, design and maintenance
Soil, Fertility and Drainage: Fertilizer needs, drainage and aeration
Irrigation Principles: Installation, repair, winterization and spring set-up
Mower and Equipment Maintenance: Routine maintenance and troubleshooting
Golf Course Construction: Design principles, surveying, costs, scheduling and contracts
Golf Course Math: Shortcuts to calculate golf course areas for safe chemical applications
Managing Golf Course Employees: Leadership, management, motivation and planning
Professional Development: Resum writing, interviewing tips and career guidance
Pricing
$1,895 per person when you register on or before December 19, 2014
$1,995 per person when you register after December 19, 2014
Financial Aid
Student loans are available. In addition, this course has been approved
for tuition reimbursement through the GI Bills VA Training Program and
through NJs One Stop Career Center for unemployed NJ residents. Outside
scholarships are also accepted.
Housing and Transportation
You are responsible for making your own housing and transportation
arrangements. Housing costs are not included in your tuition and classes are
held in multiple on-campus locations where public transportation is not available.
Shuttle services and discounted rates are available from select hotels.

Certifcates and CEUs
Earn a Certifcate of Attendance for attending all three weeks of our program.
Earn a Certifcate of Completion for passing our optional fnal examination.

Refunds
If you are unable to attend, notify us in writing at least three days before the
frst day of class for a full refund. Substitutions are welcomed.

Two-Year Certifcate Program
Fall Session: October 1 to December 12, 2014
Winter Session: January 7 to March 18, 2015
The average base salary of superintendents who hold a two-year certifcate is $86,462, according to the
GCSAAs 2013 Compensation and Benefts Report. Thats more than superintendents with any other level of
education, including bachelors degrees. The Rutgers Professional Golf Turf Management Schools Two-Year
Certifcate Program consists of two 10-week sessions with a paid internship in between.

Pest Management of Landscape Turf

In this one-day class, Rich Buckley will teach you valuable clues to look for to effectively
diagnose and treat insect, disease and weed problems in turf.
