PR OC E S S E S To complete this assignment successfully and correctly, you must follow the following steps. 1. Topic: Choose one topic that you like by yourself and narrow it down with controlling ideas. Make sure the topic is one of the above mentioned paragraphs (Expository, Descriptive, Opinion, etc.). 2. Brainstorm: On a piece of paper, brainstorm all the ideas relating to the chosen topic in one among the three wayslisting, mapping, or freewriting. 3. Outline: After brainstorming your ideas, you need to organize your ideas into an outline. A sample outline is provided on the next page. For details on outline, please refer to your handouts on outline or ask your lecturer. 2
4. First Draft: Write your first draft by following the information in your outline. Once you have finished, find one person in your class to edit your first draft for you. Dont forget to leave some space on your first draft for your editor to write his/her name as well as some comments so that your lecturer will know who has edited your work. Here are some points that your editor should consider when editing your work:
5. Second Draft: After your first draft has been edited, go on to write your second draft by making improvements on your first draft and by considering the feedback given by your editor (REMEMBER that sometimes what your editor have corrected might be correct or incorrect, so you decide by yourself whether to change it or not. If you are still 3 unsure about your mistakes, please refer to your lecturer for clarity). Again, once you have finished, find another different editor in your class to review your work. 6. Final Draft: At last, after considering all the feedback, improve your second draft by writing your final draft and this will be the one that your lecturer will mainly focus on when marking.
