PROCEDURE FOR THE MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

SUMMARY
A summary should be included. The text of the paper should be divided in the following subtitles: 1.
Introduction, 2. Materials and Methods, 3. Results, 4. Discussion, 5. Conclusions, 6.
Acknowledgements (if necessary), 7. Bibliography, as shown to proceed. The summary should have
maximum 200 words. It is recommended that the paper is written in English, but it could be written in
Portuguese or Spanish.
KEY WORDS - typescript, procedure, diskette, etc., maximum five (5).
ABSTRACT
For recognition of the researchers' participation and popularization of the Proceedings worldwide, a
summary in English should also be included. In case, the paper is written in English there is no need
of a Summary in Portuguese.

1. INTRODUCTION
The objective of this presentation is to make uniform the format of the papers, which will be
reproduced, directly from the diskettes sent by the authors. No alteration or correction will be
accomplished by the Coordination of the Event. It is fundamental, to follow the presented
instructions.
2. MATERIALS AND METHODS
Each item of the text may have maximum 3 (three) sub-items, numbered as shown below.
2.1. Materials
The paper should be typed in text editor WORD for WINDOWS version 6.0 or superior,
configuring the page for paper size A4 (210 mm x 297 mm), with orientation Portray.
2.2. Methods
a) Margins
The following margins should be observed: left and right, superior and inferior 2,5 cm (1
in).
b) Typescript
To use font Times New Roman, size 12 for the text, and 14 for the title, in single space
for the whole paper The items for division of the subjects should be numbered, aligned to the left
margin, with capital letters, in boldface (as shown in this model), while for the sub-items only the first
letter is capital one. The alignment should be justified.
The first page should contain the TITLE OF THE PAPER typescript in capital letters,
centered in the page and in boldface. The authors' names should be placed 18 points below the
title, centralized, followed by the respective institutions and addresses, indicating with a (*) the author
to whom all correspondence should be addressed. The Summary should be placed 24 points below
the authors' address, following with the Key Words 18 points below. Starting from this point, to the
rest of the paper 18 points size have to be used to separate the items and sub-items of the text.
The separation of the paragraphs should be of 1,25 cm, and the spacing inside paragraph of
6 points. Some words can be used in boldface, or italic or underlined to give emphasis to some
important aspect of the paper. The text should not contain page numeration.
The equations should be centralized in the page, numbered with alignment in the right margin,
and to be separate from the text with 12 points. In the text an equation should be mentioned like Eq.
1 etc.

c) Total of Pages
The paper should have maximum 12 pages (including illustrations).
3. RESULTS
The text including Tables, Figures and other illustrations should not surpass the maximum
number of specified pages. The Tables, when possible, they should be positioned inside of the text,
numbered in Arabic numerals, identified by a legend in the superior part.
The Figures should be numbered in Arabic numerals and the legend should be placed in the
inferior part.
It is requested, not to use, if its possible, of Figures or pictures obtained by means of
scanner.
The Figures, Pictures and Tables should be centered in relation to the text and separated
from it with a space of 12 points.
All the references mentioned in the text should consist in serial order, in the form: Michaelis
& Menten (1), Woodward et all. (2). The numbers should be in italics.
4. DISCUSSION
This item may appear together with the results like RESULTS and DISCUSSION.
5. CONCLUSIONS
The papers should be submitted preferably as an attached file by e-mail
(sheb@deq.uem.br). For convenience, several papers can be send in one message.
The name of the file should be identified with the number assigned in the acceptance,
title of the paper and the presenting author's name, as in the example: T001-Immobilization of
the CGTase Enzyme-Zanin.
The deadline for submitting the papers is 16 / August / 2002. After the deadline no more
papers will be accepted for publication in the Proceedings of the event.
The paper can be written in the form of Complete Paper or Scientific Note, and in the
both cases have to be prepared in agreement with the presented norms.
If the paper is submitted as Scientific Note, it should have maximum 6 pages. This situation
is applied for the papers in an initial phase not having complete results.
The papers submitted for publication in the PROCEEDINGS will be revised by the Scientific
Committee, the authors will be informed about the revisions (if necessary ), and will be published
soon after.
