SECURITY CONSOLE
PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of Contract, including General and special
Conditions and Division-1 (General requirements) will apply to te wor! of tis
section.

1.2 DESCRIPTION OF WORK
A. %or! includes providing all materials, equipment, accessories, ardware, software,
services, tests and operation and maintenance documentation necessary to complete
and ma!e ready for operation, a complete &ecurity Console in accordance wit
Drawings and &pecifications.
1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. 'anufacturer(s )ualifications* +irms regularly engaged in te manufacturer of
&ecurity Console of types, data required, wose products ave ,een in satisfactory
use in similar services for not less tan 1- years.
". &tandard Compliance* provide &ecurity Console and components wic Comply wit
requirements of applica,le local codes, D./01D$, .$&, /.$.C. (/+#A-2-) and 34-
listed. 34-listing on te individual devices are not sufficient.
C. &ervice* 'anufacturer 0 &upplier must ave a 4ocal wareouse at wic spare parts
are stoc!ed and were a field service engineer wo is a permanent, full -time
employee of te contractor0supplier, factory trained and qualified individual wose
primary duty is field service resides.
1.4 SUBMITTALS

manufacturer and mar!ed up for all of te proposed equipment.
". Detailed "ill of material indicating te model num,er and quantity for all of te
proposed equipment.

complete wit front and side elevations.

description of te deviation sall ,e provided.

A. Guarantee equipment furnised under tese specifications against defective parts
and wor!mansip under terms of te manufacturer(s and dealer(s standard warranties
for a period of not less tan one year from date of initial start-up and 5wner
acceptance of te system and include la,our and travel time for necessary repairs at
te 6o, site.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS

2.2 GENERAL
A. 8is specification section covers te manufacturing, wor!s testing, supplying and delivering to
site, erecting, connection up, testing, commissioning performance testing, demonstrating and
anding over in wor!ing order of te complete &ecurity Console &ystem.
". 8e Contractor will supply and install a 1;9, +ree &tanding, 'odular type security console at
te &ecurity Control 7oom.
C. 8e console will consist of free standing modular units wit front inged, loc!a,le access
panels. 8e console will ,e securely fi<ed to te floor and will ,e complete wit all trun!ing,
power outlets, fans, la,els, termination ,loc!s and interconnecting ca,les from termination
,loc!s to te panel indicators, controls and associated equipment. 8e panel will incorporate
ad6ustment facilities for sla, imperfections.
D. All of te Console accessories (+ans, #ower Distri,ution 3nits, $arting =it, etc) will ,e supplied
from te security console(s manufacturer.
$. 8e security console sall ,e rigid and ro,ust in construction, using non-reflective surfaces on
te wor! surface and display ,ays. 8e wor! surface is to ,e ard wearing ,ut wit a
cusioned edge for comfort and protection. 8e console will ,e made from ligt oa!, wit a
wor! surface veneer of industrial linoleum, color to ,e agreed wit te 5wner(s Autori>ed
7epresentative prior to manufacture.
+. 8e Contractor will ,e responsi,le for coordinating te detailed design and manufacture of te
console and all te associated equipment including all of te $quipment.
G. $ac 'onitor, control device etc will ,e clearly identified on te front panel ,y means of an
engraved la,el.
?. 8e la,els will ,e of 9+ormica9 engraved laminate wit lettering not less tan @mm ig and
will ,e secured to te panel front wit instrument eaded macine screws.
.. &il! screen on te panel front will not ,e accepted. 8e Contractor will ,e responsi,le for
ensuring sufficient space and compartments are availa,le for te installation of all te panels
and associated equipment.
A. 8e security console sall ,e of a modular design to allow for te addition of e<tra ,ays, if
required in te future. 8e front and rear panels must ,e ventilated and remova,le for easy
installation and maintenance of te equipment.
=. 8e security console will ,e constructed to provide optimum ca,le management, so tat all
trailing ca,les are safely maintained. $ac ,ay will ,e fitted wit a ca,le grommet for free
standing equipment. All computer !ey,oards will ,e placed on retracting draws under te
associated monitors.
4. 8e Contractor will provide all necessary information to te console manufacturer to ena,le
te console to fully comply wit te requirements of te &pecification.

All equipment and accessories will ,e supplied, installed and connected ,y te Contractor.

2.3 WIRING
A. 8e detailed &pecification for small wiring will apply ta!ing account of te particular
requirements of tis section.
". All internal connections and small wiring will ,e carried out using #1C insulated ca,les
complying wit "&* GBC1 and connected to te e<isting panel in te security room.
C. All small wiring will ,e neatly ,unced and cleaned in arness form, using purpose-made
plastic ca,le ties, or will ,e enclosed in purpose-made plastic small wiring trun!ing or
rouging. %iring leaned to metal surfaces will ,e spaced off te metal or oterwise
insulated from it.
D. 'etallic 9,uc!le clips9 will not ,e used for internal wiring. %iring to swing doors or oter
movea,le items will ,e fle<i,le ca,les neatly ,unced and constrained ,y a fle<i,le
arness or loom.
$. $ac terminal unit will ave separate incoming and outgoing terminals and no more tan
one wire will ,e connected to any one terminal unless te terminal is specially designed to
accept more tan one.
+. $ac terminal ,oard for e<ternal wiring will ave at least 1-H spare capacity wit a
minimum of two spare terminals.
G. All terminal ,oards will ,e num,ered in sequence to matc te num,ering on te wiring or
connection diagrams.
?. A ,onding conductor will connect te eart ,ar to eac gland and0or armour clamp were
ca,les terminate at te switcgear.
.. All ca,les witin te console will ,e clearly and permanently la,eled as tey enter te
console and at all terminations. All la,els will contain te function of te ca,le and te
associated device, i.e. 1.D$5 '5/.857 1.

te &ecurity 0 .nfo Dis! at ground floor. ,ut not ,e limited to, te following control,
indication, monitoring and alarm panels and associated equipment in te console, as
detailed in te following sections*

PART 3 EECUTION
3.1 INSPECTION
A. 8e Contractor will provide timely written requirements for te areas and conditions under
wic te security console is to ,e installed. 8e Contractor will notify in writing if te
conditions are found to ,e detrimental to proper completion of te wor!, prior to
installation.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. .nstall complete security console, including associated control devices as indicated, in
accordance wit manufacturer(s written instructions, requirements of applica,le
standards, and in accordance wit recogni>ed industry practices to ensure tat installation
complies wit requirements and serves intended function.
". Coordinate wit oter wor! as necessary to interface installation of security console wit
oter wor!.
C. 8igten connectors and terminals, including screws and ,olts, in accordance wit
equipment manufacturer(s pu,lised torque tigtening values for equipment connectors.
D. Ancor mounting ardware firmly to floors. 8o ensure enclosures are permanently and
mecanically secured. #rovide all ardware and accessories for proper mounting.
$. #rovide equipment earting connections for te security console as required ,y
applica,le codes 0 standards.
3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A. 3pon completion of installation and after circuitry as ,een energi>ed, demonstrate
capa,ility and compliance of security console wit requirements. %ere possi,le, correct
malfunctioning units at site ten retest to demonstrate complianceI oterwise, remove
and replace wit new units, and retest.
