Brief Description Soft starters protect electric motors by reducing the starting torque. The power supply is protected against dan- gerous current peaks by reducing the current input during the start. Areas of Application Smooth starting and stopping of three-phase AC induction motors. For all applications where up to now star-delta starters have been used. For example: Fans, pumps, compressors, conveyor belts, grinding machines, saws, textile machines, mixers, presses, etc. Product data for 3RW3346-0DC34 Standards: IEC 947-4-2 (EN60947-4-2); UL/CSA; CE Rated voltage: Ue 400 VAC, 50 or 60 Hz, range 200 to 460 V Ambient temperature -18C to 55C inside enclosure (acc. EE038 Carrier spec) Control voltage (Terminals B1 + B2): Uc 115 VAC +/10 %, 50 or 60 Hz; 5 VA @ 120 VAC. Lifetime 15 years with 4800 h / year Humidity 95 % Environmental conditions / requirements acc. CEI 364 3.2 class 4Z1, 4Z4, 4Z7. Degree of protection IP 00 Overload protection integrated but not used by Carrier! Current limit starting No fans, vertical mounting for correct cooling necessary! A 0.5 second turn off delay of Thyristors is added at stopping. This allows the bypass contactor to open without arcing! s Automation & Drives Group Low-Voltage Control Systems P.O. Switches "2/3 / Full Range" - Current Ranges Allows the calibration ranges of the "Starting Current" and "Overload Current" pots to be changed. For Carrier both the "Full Range" and "2/3 Range" could be used! "0.5 / 0.0 Sec" - Off Delay Allows the motor turn off to be delayed 0.5 seconds. For Carrier the software was changed to a standard delay of 0.5 seconds independent from this switch. A extra setting is not necessary! "ABC / CBA" - Phase Rotation Allows lockout of the motor if the source power phase rotation is reversed. The Carrier setting is determined by installation power source. "Fault Reset Switch (Push)" switch Allow reset of Overload, Single Phase, or Shorted SCR fault trip. (Note, Phase Rotation and Single Phase are self correcting, does not require a reset, and the motor will restart automatically.) The typical setting does not apply. Push only to reset after fault trip. Adjustments "Starting Current" - Pot Setting range is 378 A to 1071 A (252 A to 714 A) Line Amps at full (2/3) range setting of SW1. The dial markings are from "0" to "F", 16 settings are possible. For Example, a Carrier motor with maximum 812 Line Amps starting current: Set Pot to "9" = 794 A at "Full Range"! "Overload Current" - Pot Setting range is 126 A to 441 A (84 A to 294 A) Line Amps at full (2/3) range setting of SW1. The dial markings are from "0" to "F", 16 settings are possible. Typical setting for a motor is to the rated motor current. Setting for Carrier is maximum 441 (294) Amps full (2/3) range: Pot setting to "F" cause on no need for overload protection! (Note: The 2/3 Full switch effects both pot ranges.) LED Indicators "Control Power On" (Green) Shows that AC115V is applied to B1 + B2. "Motor Run" (Green) Shows that the motor is energized and running. "Motor Up To Speed" (Green) Shows that the motor is not in current limit and should be running at full speed. "Normal Phase Rotation" (Green) Shows that the Source three phase power matches the ABC/CBA selection. "Motor Overload" (Red) Shows that the starter tripped on an inverse time overload. "Shorted S.C.R." (Red) Shows that a current was flowing in one or two phases when the motor should not be running. This indi- cates a shorted SCR. "Single Phase" (Red) Shows that the lowest motor running current is less than 40% of the highest motor running current for more than 2 seconds. (Note: Green indicators are normal operation functions and red indicators show fault trips.) s Automation & Drives Group Low-Voltage Control Systems P.O.
