5th Sunday of Easter
A
fter His Resurrection, Jesus stayed on
earth for forty more days after which
He ascended to Heaven. In those
days He appeared to His disciples giving to
them and to His would be followers His last
instructions.
In todays Gospel which is actually one
of His final discourses befor His suffering
and death, Jesus shows how insecure His
disciples were, especially after He told them
that the time has come for Him to go back
to the Father. What would they do when
He leaves them? How would they continue
the work He had started with them? Would
they still be for Him till the end of time? Yes,
He had risen, but where was the promised
kingdom?
Knowing how perplexed they were,
Jesus told them, Do not be troubled. Trust
in God, trust in me (Jn 14:1), meaning, they
had to trust the Father Who sends Him and
Him Who is sent by the Father.
Jesus continues on assuring them that
His leaving them was because He will go to
the Kingdom where He will prepare a place
for them after which He will come back and
take them with Him so that where He is,
they may also be.
It is good to note what Jesus says,

hristianity is considered to have the
biggest in number in the world, but not
all live as true Christians. Being baptized
a Roman Catholic is not the only step to
become a child of God.
The People of God knowthe true essence of
being a Christian both spiritually and mentally.
After they are baptized theyve kept a promise
to God, guided by their parents, and they are
expected to live and cherish the teachings of our
Lordandoncetheyreoldenough, theyarecalled

the apostles started their evangelical mission
to spread the Word of God, they face numerous
challenges but their faith didnt changed at all,
since. They possessed the true kind of faith, a
true person of God must have. Another example

Looking deeper behind the many
happenings in our parish right now, I cannot
help making this prayer my own: Forever I
will sing the goodness of the Lord!
Through Gods goodness, the planning
for the Convent Retrofitting and Renovation
is ongoing. The committee for the said
project regularly meets every week to
brainstorm on how the convent will look
like and on how the offices will be arranged
according to the pastoral and security needs.
Through Gods goodness, the Parish
Worship Ministry strives to organize
and systematize the sub-ministries after
having evaluated the present realities and
considered various challenges. To pastorally
minister to our infirmbrothers and sisters,
the Ministry of the Sick is being established.
What a wonderful way of showing our
concern to our weak and suffering brethren
in whom Jesus is present. Likewise, the
Parish Worship Ministry is also preparing
for the Organists Workshop on May 22-24,
2014.
Through Gods goodness, our Parish
Education Ministry facilitates Adult
Formation Classes every Friday and
Saturday. Many of our parishioners attend
these classes because they find it enriching
and enlightening. Moreover, some of our

sini nga dinalan: Indi mo paggamiton ang
Ngalan sang Dios sa walay kapuslanan.
Ini nga sugo nagamando nga tahuron
ang Ngalan sang Dios tungod kay ang
Ngalan sang Dios amo ang Dios Mismo.
Bunga sang eksperyensya sa
kompesyon, sarang ko masiling nga
madamo pa sa aton mga tumoluo ang
wala pa gid makahangop sing lubos sang
kahulogan sang Ikaduha nga Sugo. Para sa
kadamoan sa aton, ini nga sugo ginapatuhoy
lamang sa pagdumili sa pagmitlang sang
Ngalan sang Dios ukon ni Jesus, sing walay
kapuslanan, ayhan tungod sa kaakig, ukon
ang tanan nga sahi sang hambal nga wala
nagakabagay kag nagapanghimalaut ukon
nagapangkondenar sa iban. Matuod nga
ini nga Sugo nagadumili sa paghambal
sang pagpasipala batok sa Dios ukon
batok sa mga santos ukon ang ginatawag
nga blasphemy, kag ang pagmaldisyon,
halimbawa ang pagpangamuyo para sa
kalainan sang iban, ukon ang pagsumpa
sang kabutigan, sa diin ginagamit ang Dios

catechists namely Imelda Solas, Celeste

parish to attend the Summer Catechetical
Institute offered by the Archdiocesan
Commision on Catechesis and Catholic
Education at Saint Vincent Ferrer Seminary
from April 27 to May 24, 2014. Through
this, we be able equip more our catechists

In my opinion, the seven Sacraments
show the complete steps on how to bring
people to God. The first one is that a person
has to be baptized then go through the second
sacrament of confirmation. After the first
communion they can already receive the
Body and Blood of Jesus in the Sacrament of
the Holy Eucharist. When the time is right
for them to decide the state of life they will
have, they are given two choices; to serve
God and spread the Good News through the
Sacrament of Holy Orders or the Sacrament
of Matrimony if they choose such where they
can also spread the Good News through their

5 WAYS TO LOVE THE
UNLOVABLE IN ALL OF US
T
o love one another is easy when all is
kind and good. But when a stranger or
even a friend or family members awful
habit or trait irritates us or he or she does
something hurtful toward us, our love for them
can be tested. Each of us is precious in Gods
eyes, but we are also fallible and very human.
Here are five ways to love the unlovable in all of
us, each one grounded in prayer.
Look Inwardly
Before judging someone else, examine
your conscience. See the good and the troubling
there, and pray for a better understanding of
the role of humility in dealing with someone
who has hurt you.
Expand Your View
We all have good and bad days. Perhaps
your loved one did or said something that
stung because he or she was struggling with
something personal, too. Pray for wisdomto see
the broader picture so that you can love even
better when those bad days occur.
Prioritize Pain
Before striking back or voicing
disapproval, consider just how serious the
offense is. Is it a habit or trait that is just part
of the persons personality? Or, is it something
serious that requires a different, stronger
response. Pray that you will be granted the
consistency to act out of love in either case,
with specifics appropriate to the situation.
Heal the Hurt
Heaping hurt upon hurt without working
toheal cancloudour ability tolove as Godwants
us to love. Allowyourself time to move through
the healing process. Pray for guidance about
ways to achieve healing within your soul and
toward the person who has wronged you.
Aspire to Jesus Example
We are so very human, and we will make
mistakes, but the most inspiring example
of loving the unlovable rests with Our Lord.
Despite all of the hurtful things people did to
Him, He understood and He loved. Pray that
each day you will be drawn closer to Jesus so
that He may give you strength as you aspire
ever further in faith and deed.

to bring more people to God, teach values and
ways to keep their love for Christ.
The final point is that it is not only on
baptizing newly born children or adults
to become Christian but also to transform
them to become true Christians; to become
spiritually and mentally close to God; to
keep, cherish, and live their faith even when
numerous challenges arise; to be role models
to everybody; and to serve God. Finally, to
possess a true kind of faith, doesnt end here,
but what I mean is, we need more faithful
people of God to reconstruct both our faith
and Church as one - a transformed Christian
who can be true people of God possessing a
sincere and pure heart.

have monthly medical and dental check-
up and we are giving medicines to our
indigents. On this month before the school
year begins, the staff of our PSAM are busy
in screening applicants for our Parish
Scholars. Hopefully, we can make some of
our young people and their families smile
because of the opportunity to study and
finish tertiary education.
Through Gods goodness, our Parish
Youth Ministry just finished their Leadership
and Team Building Training. In view of the
vision to be united, the officers of the Jaro
Parish Ministry of Altar Services (JPMAS),
Himig Katedral Choir (HKC) and Jaro Parish
Youth Ministry (JPYM) participated in this
activity. Our youth are also busy preparing
for the 1st Archdiocesan Youth Day which
will be on May 23-24, 2014 at Pototan, Iloilo
and for their annual Sports Fest which we
hope to hold before the class starts in June.
Through Gods goodness, the members
of our Parish Pastoral Secretariat are
conducting meeting and consultation with
our leaders in the barangay in view of the
plan to have a parish pastoral assembly in
the near future.
Yes, there are many blessings that we
can count. We have them because of Gods
goodness and faithful love.
Thank you Lord! Let us forever sing the
goodness of the Lord!

Pero dapat mahibaloan nga ang Ikaduha

Sa Kasulatan, ang ngalan sang isa ka tawo
may iya nga importansya kag gahom. Ang
ngalan amo mismo ang tawo, kag gani ang
Ngalan sang Dios amo ang Dios mismo. Kag
gani, ang paggamit sang Ngalan sang Dios sa
walay kapuslanan nagakahulogan sang indi
pagtuman sa Dios, kag ang paggamit sang

Luas sa pagtahod sa Ngalan sang Dios,
ang Ikaduha nga Sugo may kaangtanan man

kag sa pagtuman sang tanan nga panaad
nga solemne. Ang mga sumpa kag mga
panaad kinahanglan himuon sa seryoso
nga paagi kag indi sa pasapayan lamang.
Kon kaisa, ang ngalan sang Dios ginagamit
man sa pagpahog sa iban, halimbawa sa
pagkondenar sa ila, ukon sa paghaylo
sa iban paagi sa mga salimpapaw kag
emosyonal nga sahi sang mga sugilanon.
Ang positibo nga ginapatuman sang
Ikaduha nga Sugo amo ang malipayon nga
ginasiling sang Salmo: Dayawa, O mga
alagad sang Ginuo; dayawa ang ngalan sang
Ginuo. Dayawon ang ngalan sang Ginuo,
karon kag sa gihapon. Dayawon ang ngalan
sang Ginuo halin sa pagbutlak sang adlaw
tubtob sa iya pagtunod.

Sa bahin na man sang plano nga
pagpabakod sang kombento, padayon
pa ang mga panugod nga panalawsaw

ilang mga Katoliko, sa masami
nagapalapit kita sa Simbahan
kag nagapangamuyo sa Diyos
para sa aton mga kinahanglanon.
Ayhan ang iban luyag
magpasalamat sa Iya sa bugay sang
kabuhi, ukon sa nangin madinalag-

Pagsalig - ini isa ka tinaga
nga puno sang kahulugan kag
pagpanghangkat. Nagasalig kita
tungod kay kilala naton ang isa ka
tawo; isa siya ka maayo, masaligan,
kag tampad nga abyan. Kon
kita nagasalig, may kahilwayan
kita sa pagpabutyag sang aton

ang pagpati nga kita importante kag
dapat hatagan man sang pagtamod.
Apang, masubo lang kon ini wala
ginhalungan tungod sang indi
pagkatampad sa isa ka relasyon.
Gani, mga utod, importante gid
ang pagsalig sa kabuhi sang tawo.
Kon kilala naton ang isa kag isa may
pagsalig kita tungod napahamtang

also for our awareness about
in HIM. from page 1...
you also may be, and not
you also will be.
So, when Jesus says, Trust
in God, trust in Me what does
He want to tell us? First of all,
that trust, according to Webster,
is a firm belief or confidence in
the honesty, integrity, reliability,
justice, etc. of another person.
This means Jesus wants His
followers to firmly b elieve that
He has all those qualities. Thus,
they must not feel insecure but
confident that His leaving them
is for their benefit. He will
prepare a place for them in His
Fathers house where they will
be able to reach if they will make
Jesus their way. How? By living
His love, kindness, gentleness,
compassion and mercy towards
sinners and by their absolute faith
in the Father so that by their good
works they will attest that Jesus is
the Savior of the world.
This goes to prove that trusting
in Jesus is not a passive waiting
that Jesus will do everything for
us but rather working for what we
want from Him. Do we want to be
with Him in heaven? We have to
love by doing good for somebody
in need because he/she is a
brother/sister in Christ. We have
to have compassion and concern
and not discrimination on sinners.
But most of all we have to have
an absolute faith in the goodness,
mercy and love of the Father, as the
Fathers love is greater than our
sin. We have to remember always
that although our heart is weak,
God is strong and powerful.
Trust Him! Follow His will!
Is this trust not one of the
values the MKK members want
to develop in themselves? In
their faith sharing problems
are discovered, solutions are
employed. Because of their
trust that Jesus is in their midst,
their community life becomes
stronger and each ones need
is met. Like the early Christian
community there was no needy
person among them (Act 4:34).
Want to reach Gods
Kingdom? Trust Jesus alone.
For in Him alone is our hope, is
our strength, we are justified,
we are saved!

ay 14, 2014. With warmer
weather, more pilgrims
are coming to the Popes
General Audience. This week,
60,000 people packed St. Peters
Square to listen to Pope Francis
talk about the gift of fortitude.
He explained that this gift from
the Holy Spirit frees people from their
uncertainties and limitations, and
instead opens their hearts, giving them
strength to carry out Gods will.
We all know people that have lived
through hard times, with so much pain.

Popes Audience: People Fighting
Through Hardships are Everyday Saints
do all things through Him, who gives
me strength. The Lord always gives us
strength, He never falters. The Lord
doesnt test us beyond our limits. He is
always among us.
Near the end of his remarks,
the Pope appealed and prayed for
the victims and survivors of a mine
explosion in Turkey.
He also asked for prayers for the
victims of yet another boat of immigrants
that sunkoff theItaliancoast. Hedescribed
it as shameful, and asked authorities to
take proper measures to keep that from
happening again.

who live a life of hardship, who fight to raise a
family, and educate their children. They do this
because they have the spirit of fortitude which
helps them. These brothers and sisters are saints,
everyday saints. Saints hidden amongst us.
Pope Francis urged pilgrims to thank these
people for their example, and to ask themselves:
If they can do it, why cant I? The Pope also
explained that the gift of fortitude does not
apply just to particular times. It must become an
everyday part of Christian life.
The Apostle Paul said a phrase that would be
good for us to hear: I can do all things through
Him, who gives me strength. In everyday life,
in times of hardship, let us remember this: I can

rocrastination is the thief of time. Some
of us like to postpone doing things which
can be done at once because of the slight
reason that we deserve some rest. However,
we can never be sure what the next moment
would bring, so it is always best to do things
at once so that at least we can see its result
and move on to our next activity.
Isnt it a good practice to compare our
accomplishments fromday to day and make a
mental record of what we have done?
At home, there are many tasks to
perform: tidiness and orderliness inside
the house, sanitation and cleanliness of the
surroundings, a healthy relationship with
the neighbors, sharing with the needy, and
extending a warmwelcome to strangers.
In school, superiors, teachers, and
visitors must be treated with courtesy and
respect. The students must strive to perform
their assignments and discharge their duties
with diligence and seriousness. Education
is the best preparations for a bright future.
What is learned academically must be applied
correctly to mental, physical and social
needs. Truancy and engaging in questionable
activities must be brushed off.
From the educational institution where
knowledge and intelligence are honed, the
home must be the beneficiary of all positive
developments. Let the parents feel grateful for
the chance of forming their childrens minds and
hearts. Old people must be given the love and
respect they deserve which can perk them up
in their old age. Charity which begins at home
must be extended to those who have less in life.

LOILO City, May 11, 2014 The relics of
newly canonized Popes, St. John Paul II
and St. John XXIII, will visit the faithful of
Iloilo from May 20-22, 2014 in what seems
to be a re-visit by the former who made his
papal visit to the city in 1981.
It was a very rare privilege for us in Iloilo
to have been visited by a Saint Archbishop
Angel Lagdameo said, remembering the first
ever papal visit to the city from February 20
21 in 1981.
The relics of the St. John Paul II and St.

the visit.

visit and at 7 a.m. on the second and third
days.

and their Relics that will be given at the same
venue with the following schedule:
May 20, 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.
May 21, 8 a.m., 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.

ng Iglesia Katolika nagatudlo nga si

nga mangin pangulo sang Simbahan
nga Iya gintukod. Gani ini nga katungdanan
nagpadayon paagi sa pagbinulosbulos sang
iya nga tagtal-os tubtub subong. May 266
na ka mga Santo Papa ang nag-alagad sa

sini ang Simbahan ni Kristo padayon nga

Matuod nga Pagtulun-an ni Kristo.
Apang madamo ang nagasupak sini
nga pagtulun-an. Suno sa ila wala ini nga
kamatuoran sa Santos nga Kasulatan kundi
ginbalay-balay lang ini sang mga Katoliko. Ila
ginatudlo nga wala kuno sing labi ka mataas
ukon pangulo sa mga apostoles ni Kristo. Gani
para sa ila ang ginatudlo sang mga Katoliko
nahanungod kay Pedro sayop kag malayo sa
kamatuoran. Sila nagahambal nga si Kristo
lamang ang naga-isahanon nga pangulo sang
Iglesia kag wala na sing iban.
Ining aton pagpahanungod kay Pedro
nga lider kag pangulo sang Simbahan aton
gid mapamatud-an gikan sa mga Kasulatan
ilabi na gid sa Bag-o nga Kasugtanan. Una
sa paglista sang mga ngalan sang mga
apostoles ni Kristo, maathag gid nga si Pedro
ang ginapakilala Niya nga ila lider paagi sa
pagsulat sang iya ngalan nga una gid pirme
nahauna ukon first honor. Sa sulat pa gid ni
Mateo 16:18-19, nagasiling: Kag Ako man
nagatakup kag wala sing makabukas.
nagtugyan. Sia ang makita nga pangulo sang
Simbahan ni Kristo diri sa duta. Wala ni Pedro
gin-agawan sing poder si Kristo kay Sia man
gihapon ang nagapabilin nga espiritwal nga
bato sang Simbahan suno sa 1Corinto 10:4:
Kag nag-inom sila sa bato nga ispirituhanon
nga amo si Kristo.
Nasandig sa husto nga pang-inuino nga
dapat may ara gid sang isa ka makita nga
pangulo ang Simbahan agud magpabilin
ini nga may kahusayan kag kapag-on sa iya
misyon diri sa duta. Amo ini ang daku nga
rason kon nga-a ang Simbahan Katoliko
nagapabilin nga mapag-on kag nagahugpong
sa pihak sang nanari-sari nga sayop nga
pagtulun-an nga nagaluntad subong nga
panahon. Sa wala pa magkayab si Hesus sa
Langit Iya man ginsilingan si Pedro sa Juan
21:15-17: Simon anak ni Juan, ginahigugma
mo bala Ako sing labi sini sa ila? Nagsiling
sia sa Iya, Huo Ginuo Nagsiling si Jesus,
Pahalba ang Akon mga kordero..Tatapa ang
Akon mga karnero..
Si Pedro ang ginbutang ni Kristo nga
manugpahalab kag manugtatap sang Iya mga
karnero. Kasubong nga si Eliakim ginhimo nga
amay sang tanan nga taga-Juda sa Jesusalem
bangud sang yabi sang pagkapangulo, sa amo
man nga bagay nga si Pedro ginhimo man nga
amay sang tanan nga katawhan sang Dios
tungod sang iya pagkapangulo sa panong sang
Dios suno sa Bag-o nga Kasugtanan. Amo ini
ang rason kon nga-a ginatawag sia nga PAPA

life will become brighter.
Let the dawn of each new day be a
beautiful chance for us to prove that we are
growing fast in our Christianity.
The world is hungry for peace. Let us
do our share in giving an ingredient that
will produce satisfaction. If we can forgive
those who hurt us, we will also merit Gods
forgiveness.
The world is sick because of our selfishness
and pride. Let us cure this with humility and
acceptance. It is sickof drugandliquor abuse. Let
us pray and offer sacrifices for transformation
and reform.
The road is muddy because the heavy rains
of jealousy are filling the canal andditches. Let us
be contented with what God is giving us and do
our best to live in love and acceptance.
If we have failed in many ways, let us do
our best to examine our conscience, repent
of our offenses and turn over a new leaf.
Living as real Christians should,
during these difficult times is better said
than done, but, if we look to heaven and
picture Our Father waiting for us with a
smiling face and open arms, I wonder if you
will still linger but instead raise your
arms to heaven with no other wish, than to
be with our Loving Father kissing His feet
and hands for all eternity.
