Dear Band Parent,

Re: Summer Concert June 11, 2014 & PVA Choice Next Year

As the year quickly approaches an end there are a few important items coming up for next month.
The Summer Concert date is scheduled for JUNE 11, 2014 7pm in the gym. This will be our last
performance before the end of the year. Students need to arrive at 6:30pm for a quick warm-up
before entering the stage. Full dress uniform is required for this performance. This years theme is
Sports Fantasy. Band students from Grades 6-9 will be playing music from various motion picture films
& sport theme melodies. For this evening a concession stand selling various snacks for a $1.00 and will
be setup in the IAC for the audience to purchase before the concert. Please remind your child to
return the band uniform at the end of the performance.


If students ARE returning to band for the 2013/2014 school year:

Students have been asked to decide what their interest is for returning to band next year. Students
seriously considering playing in the band for the 2014/2015 school year should decide which
instrument they would like to play so parents can make proper arrangements. It is strongly
recommended to remain on the same instrument. Students interested in playing percussion should
have a strong piano background and able to read in both treble and bass clef and will require either a
drum kit and piano to practice. Students thinking of switching instruments or already take lessons
playing guitar, piano, violin, or drums need to contact Mr. Bolen.

If students ARE NOT return to band for the 2014/2015 school year:

Students NOT RETURNING to band next year need to return their instrument to the appropriate rental
program. Students renting Connect Charter School instruments may return them to the band room so
they can be signed off. Students renting instruments from St. Johns Music, Long & McQuade or
elsewhere MUST RETURN THEIR INSTRUMENTS TO THE STORE NOT THE BANDROOM!!! Failure to do
this will result in continued payments over the summer!

Thank-you to all Band Parents for supporting the band program as well as the Band Parent
Committee for giving their time and efforts into all the events this year. It was another banner
