Importance of Work Health and
Safety
Setting standards to protect workers and all other
stakeholders in the workplace from being expose to
hazards and risks.
Providing guidelines for working with hazardous
chemicals.
Preventing injury due to fatigue.
Eliminates or reduce the chances of being injured.
Saves the company money.
No one wants to get hurt or killed in the workplace.

5.2) There is enough room between the keyboard and the
edge of the desk to rest the wrists whilst not typing.

5.3) Keyboard close enough to allow elbows to remain under
the shoulder and close to body.

5.4) Legs of the keyboard retracted to ensure flat wrists while
typing.

5.5) Your wrists remain in a neutral position while typing or
using the mouse

5.6) Mouse moved using the shoulder as the pivot point not
the wrist.

5.7) Mouse at the same level as the keyboard and close
enough so the elbows remain directly under the shoulders.

IS IT A CRITICAL INJURY?
IF YES:
Call for medical attention(Dial 000). Supervisor will arrange
transportation.
Apply first aid to the injured person.(While waiting for the
ambulance)
Secure the accident site. Establish inner and outer perimeter if
needed. Notify WHS Authority.
Maintain contact with Supervisor as soon as possible.








Incident/Accident Protocol
If No:
Injured person should receive first aid or medical attention. If
needed, supervisor will arrange transportation.
Employee or any witness to the incident should notify the
Supervisor of the incident.
Employee will call and report the incident to the Health and
Safety Committee

If the employee lost time from work or requires modified duties:

Employee should provide medical documentation supporting
absence, outlining restrictions.
Employee will participate in identifying suitable modified
work. Implement return to work plan.

First Aid Procedures
If a person is seriously injured or ill phone an ambulance
(Dial 000)
Then contact a Nominated First Aid Officer and a Security
Service. Notify the Security if an ambulance is called.
Security can then contact the Ambulance service and
provide additional information to guide the Ambulance to
the correct location.
After calling the Ambulance, If possible dispatch someone to
flag down the ambulance outside the building.
