As we come to
the close of 2013
and begin a New
Year of Grace
2014, we are
reminded Christ
spoke of these
events -
Matthew 24:8
All these are
the beginning
of sorrows.
As we move into a
New Year, we take
heart in advice from
2 Corinthians
12: 9
And he said unto
me, My GRACE is
sufficient for
thee: for my
strength is made
perfect in
weakness. Most
gladly therefore
will I rather glory
in my infirmities,
that the power of
Christ may rest
upon me.

Text is Psalm 65
When we consider the words of the
Psalm it should show absolutely no doubt
in anyones mind on the Word of God and
the word contained in the Holy Bible as
being the truth. This Psalm was written
many many years before the Lord came
into the world and before the church was
established, and yet it foretold of that
establishment and it foretold of the many
blessings that would come through that
establishment.
We know that it was a prophecy for the
future because it begins by saying
Praise waiteth for thee O God. It was an
event that had not yet happened. It was
something that was yet to happen, and
that praise would come through Zion
according to the Psalmist. Zion is the
church, so we see foretold that a church
or a building would begin to be built
which would bring praise unto the
Almighty God. Let us ponder just for one
moment, look around the world, think of
the number of places within the Christian
Churches around the world on this day
that are rendering praise unto the
Almighty God. The fulfilment of Gods
word will always come to pass.
If we take the text we will also see that
there are many other promises offered. It
would not be possible to preach on all of
these promises within one sermon. If we
take as the modern saying these days is,
we take a dot point on the blessings of
that Psalm, firstly we see that it foretold
the coming of Zion which is the church
through which praise should be given. It
foretold that the vows that were made
would be kept. It was not possible for the
Jewish people to keep their vows
because man is man. It is not possible for
us, but when we vow we say the words
Yes, so help me God. Even if we break
that vow the Grace of Christ can come
and overcome and cover that over, so in
Gods sight that vow is seen to be
fulfilled. The moment we humble
ourselves, we ask for forgiveness, He
forgives us, so He takes away that breach
of that vow. It is a wonderful blessing that
came with our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ.
The Psalmist talks about prayer. In this
period of time all prayer will be heard by
this Heavenly Father, and all prayer will be
answered for those who come in
sincerity. When we look at prayer in the
Scriptures we see a great change took
place in the power of prayer through our
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Prior to
His coming prayer was also offered unto
the Almighty God. In the world today
there are many who offer prayer, but not
in the name of our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ. God told Cornelius about
the great blessing, this new blessing that
would come through the means of this
change in prayer. We read in the Book of
Acts where Cornelius was also called by
God, the same as the Psalmist said that
we should give thanks for our calling.
Cornelius was not a Christian and was not
a Jew, he was a Gentile. He and his
household prayed daily, they accepted
there was a God, they could see there
was a God, and they gave also their
offerings and they contributed part of
their life, but God told him how his prayers
were met, and we find written in Acts
Chapter 10 verses 1-5:
There was a certain man in Caesarea
called Cornelius, a centurion of the band
called the Italian band, A devout man, and
2
one that feared God with all his house,
which gave much alms to the people, and
prayed to God alway. He saw in a vision
evidently about the ninth hour of the day
an angel of God coming in to him, and
saying unto him, Cornelius. And when he
looked on him, he was afraid, and said,
What is it, Lord? And he said unto him,
Thy prayers and thine alms are come up
for a memorial before God.
And now send men to Joppa,
and call for one Simon, whose
surname is Peter.
We see prayer at that time in
Gods sight only came up as a
memorial before God. God
could answer. God could hear.
God could ignore, because
there was no condition
attached to that. The prayers were only a
memorial. Why did he have to call for
Peter? To find a new way, a new way of
salvation, a new way of which the prayers
would be heard, a new way of prayer. We
share this new way, and this new way was
given unto us by our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ in the Book of
John in Chapter 16 verses 23-
27, where our Lord was
speaking with His disciples,
and He said unto them:
And in that day ye shall ask
me nothing. Verily, verily, I say
unto you, Whatsoever ye shall
ask the Father in my name, he
will give it you.
No compromise, He will give it to you.
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my
name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your
joy may be full. These things have I
spoken unto you in proverbs: but the
time cometh, when I shall no more speak
unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you
plainly of the Father. At that day ye shall
ask in my name: and I say not unto you,
that I will pray the Father for you; For the
Father himself loveth you, because ye
have loved me, and have believed that I
came out from God.
We see therein a very big difference in
prayer that came with our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ. Our Lord now said
that if we pray in His name He will not go
and pray for us, He will not
have to do that, His Father will
accept that prayer as a token of
His love to mankind for them
accepting Christ as the means
to have access unto the
Almighty God. I am the way, I
am the truth, I am the life, no
one comes to the Father but
by me. We see that all prayers
in sincerity, all prayers that are according
to Gods will, all prayers that are not in
breach of the commandments of God, all
of these prayers rendered through our
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will
automatically go to God and He will grant
them. What a blessing for us in our day of
grace! This is only brought
about by the Grace of Christ
that has been left for us.
Many say I have prayed for
this, I have prayed for that. A
relative was sick I prayed the
Lord that he would be made
whole again, and yet he
passed away. We must
remember that our Lord was
speaking about the generation, the
generation of when He established the
church to the time when He returns to
gather the church. If we have prayed that
that person be made whole and it
appears to have not happened, be
assured the day the Lord returns that
person will be made whole. If we have
3
I am the way,
I am the truth,
I am the life,
no one comes
to the Father
but by me.
Whatsoever
ye shall ask
the Father in
my name,
he will give it
you.
prayed for blessings and we feel they
have not come our way, be assured the
day the Lord returns we will have
blessings beyond our understanding that
we will not be able to comprehend with
this earthly mind.
We see it so important for us to always
believe and continue to pray. With the
frailty of man we all tend to leave prayer as
the last resort. We try to go things alone
and it is only when we seem to be
desperate that we then turn to prayer.
The Lord wants us to put prayer first,
before we undertake any activities that
are going to be different in our lives, we
should take the time to pray so that
the Lord can bless that undertaking
and not wait until the undertaking is
not working out.
I am reminded of a short story on
prayer which, as we travelled to third
world countries, those people
understand it so vividly. In the
mountains in the Philippines, a father told
his son to go and prepare a new rice field.
The son was very eager to show his
father that he was obedient, and he went
and he cleared it and levelled it, and in
the middle of it there was a huge stone.
He knew every bit of land was valuable for
growing the crop, so he called all the
villagers and they put their shoulders to
this stone and they could not shift it.
They then went and got their caribou or
buffalos and they hooked it around this
stone, and they could not shift it. They
then went to the Burungi which is their
council and they borrowed a power
tractor, and it could not shift it. The man
went to his father and he said I have
tried everything possible to remove that
obstacle. His father said to him There is
one thing you have not done, you did not
ask me.
And so it is with our lives, if we have
obstacles we must firstly go to the
Heavenly Father through the means that
has been granted unto us, this means of
grace through Christ and ask Him for His
guidance, for His strength and for His
answer to what our requirements in life
are. Do not leave it till the last, make it the
first. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ
gave many examples, and today we know
that many are concerned about their
family members who are not perhaps
coming to church, many are concerned
about their neighbours, their friends,
their relatives, and yet when we think we
should say something we baulk.
What did our Lord say when He
sent the seventy evangelists out?
We are all evangelists. We all have
a role to do. He told them to look
upon the fields, they are ready for
harvest. He then did not say
Rush into the harvest. He told
them before they proceed they should
pray to the Lord of the harvest that He will
send labourers into the field. We must
pray.
The Lord of the harvest is the Holy
Spirit, the Holy Spirit has at its disposal
not only labourers in this life, not only
ourselves, but an innumerable number of
angels who are also fellow servants they
said, and if we pray first, the Lord will
provide those labourers, be it ourselves,
a friend, a relation, an officer, an angel. If
we do not pray for that we are not
following Christs instructions.
We can see that prayer is a very
important part for the church to survive
into the future. Never cease from praying,
the early apostles wrote. We know that
we pray many times through the day
formally, but what about the times when
we need help Do we remember during
4
those times? The Psalmist said that God
visits us with His blessings, temporary
blessings. We witnessed that this
morning. The rain fell, that was a visitation
from God to show us that He loves us,
that His temporary blessings have now
fallen around this building to awaken
within us that His spiritual blessings of
which He is much more concerned are
now available for us. That temporary rain
the Psalmist said will turn into the river of
God. The river of God is seen at the
creation of the earth, where a river went
from the throne of God down to the earth,
which is Christ. This river broke into four
heads which are the ministries that signify
the church, and the water in those rivers
is the Holy Spirit. This water will flow.
Christ Himself brought an end to the
part of the law which involved bringing
water into the temple and pouring it
through the altar. The Scripture says on
the last day of that great festival our Lord
stood up and said when the last of the
water flowed, He said for anyone who
thirsts come unto Him, I am the water of
life. He said that if we come to Him He will
grant us this water which will flow out of
our bellies like living water. The Holy Spirit
through this river of God is dispensed
through the grace and righteousness of
Christ and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. If we
can allow this water to enter into us we
then will become vessels for this water of
life.
Water is no good if we hang onto it, we
must give it to those who are holding their
hands out, begging for this same peace
that can only come through our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ. They are begging
for that water. The Psalmist said it has to
be taken out of that river and put in the
furrows and on the ridges, and in every
corner of the world so that all mankind can
then offer this praise unto the Almighty
God for His great blessing to mankind
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ.
The Psalmist told us righteousness
would come, the Righteousness of
Christ. He said we would be purged, we
who can not possibly do anything good
for God will have that purged through the
Blood of Christ, and it will then be
acceptable unto God. What a wonderful
blessing! What a wonderful blessing the
Psalmist foretold. He said Praise waiteth
for thee, O God. Let us keep that praise
going for ultimately the final praise will
come as we enter the Kingdom of God,
and unitedly all people who have
prepared themselves, multitudes the
Scripture says, multitudes all giving praise
to the Almighty God. What a vision. Let us
keep our place in the ranks of those who
can see this to fulfilment. Amen
Prophecies:
O my people,
My Father has placed before you the
beauty of His creation, that thou canst
see with thine eyes that He has made,
and know with thy heart that He has given
thee, that He is the almighty, the Creator
and the Saviour of this world, and He has
given to thee a power over His creation,
and I have shown to your brethren that
the winds and the waves obey my will.
Put your faith and your trust in that which
is eternal, that which will endure beyond
the cares and the troubles of this world.
So speaketh the Lord.
Hear ye the word of the Lord,
Take hold of my grace that is set before
thee, my grace is full of power and
strength, in it ye shall find courage, grasp
not that which is of this world but take ye
the light that shines before thee, and as it
5
is a light unto thee, so shall it be a light
unto those to whom ye carry it. Go forth
now and shine that light.
So speaketh the Lord.
O my people,
The Lord shows me the burning bush,
but He says unto me respect thee that
thou therein as Moses my servant did
before you, respect ye the power of God
our Father, use this power, go forth
without fear of the world and that which
stands before you, show ye that thou art
the Lord unto the world, show your
Father that you have faith in that which He
has given to you.
So speaketh the Lord.
O my people,
Hold fast to your faith in me, show me
thy works from this faith.
So speaketh the Lord.

Advent
1st December, 2013
Text is Pastoral Letter for Advent 2013
We are already aware that we stand at
the great Advent Festival where the world
looked for that first advent and we today
look for the second advent which is the
return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ. When we think back to the world
as it was at that time before our Lord and
Saviour was born into the world we must
understand that God had been leading
the people, His chosen people the
Jewish nation by sight, and He had called
them back many times as they turned
away from His commandments and His
wishes, and finally He said that He would
not now talk to them through the
prophets and through guidance for four
hundred years. We can only imagine what
that would be like if we did not receive the
Word of God for four hundred years. In
our time if we went back four hundred
years we would be in the early 1600s, not
one of us would remember what was said
then.
We can see that there was indeed
darkness in the world. Man had taken
control of what he thought Gods
teachings were and what would happen,
but through the wisdom of God He had
promised that there would be a new
beginning within the world and He sent
His only begotten Son into the world to
begin this new way. This new way
brought with it many many blessings as
we are all aware, but for the church it also
brought many many obligations. These
obligations are not only for ourselves,
they are for Gods creation, for we know
that the Scripture teaches us that the
whole creation groans for the day when
God will make restitution of all things and
bring about the way that it was in the
Garden of Eden, the thousand years of
peace. The creation cannot bring this
about, the creatures cannot do this, it can
only come through God and He will only
do it when the numbers have been
completed to allow Him to send His Son
once again into the world to bring about
this restitution of the thousand years of
peace.
There is another obligation to the
church, and that obligation is to the
Jewish nation who abandoned Christ on
the cross when they said that they would
take His blood upon themselves, so
ended the wrath of God on the world. He
then passed His wrath onto that nation.
Our Lord hanging on the cross fulfilled
the wish of His Father given in the Book
6
of Psalms, Ask of me and I will give you
the heathen nations. He asked His
Father, Forgive them for they know not
what they do, and so all the nations of
the world now were drawn unto this new
way, a way where there would not be any
wrath of God shown by example, a way
that would allow all things to grow
together our Lord said until the day of
harvest.
The obligation to the church for those
of the Jewish nation was already foretold
in the prophets when they prophesied
where Christ would be born and that
obligation that began, and we find written
in Micah Chapter 5 verses 1-3:
Now gather thyself in troops, O
daughter of troops: he hath laid siege
against us: they shall smite the judge of
Israel with a rod upon the cheek. But
thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou
be little among the thousands of Judah,
yet out of thee shall he come forth unto
me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose
goings forth have been from of old, from
everlasting. Therefore will he give them
up, until the time that she which travaileth
hath brought forth: then the remnant of
his brethren shall return unto the children
of Israel.
We see there a promise of a Saviour
being born in Bethlehem, but He would
be struck on the cheek, He would have to
abandon His brothers and sisters of the
Jewish nation and they would stay
abandoned until she, which is the
church, through travail will bring forth
another child. We have heard in the
Pastoral Christs teaching to His apostles,
In my Fathers house there are many
mansions, if it were not so I would have
told you. I go to prepare a place for you,
that where I am ye may be also, and if I go I
will come again and take you unto myself,
that where I am ye may be also.
To understand that teaching we have
to understand the background of the
events that had happened during that
week. This teaching was on the night of
His betrayal. Christ had entered into the
natural temple, the natural house of His
Father, and He told those there that His
Fathers house should be a house prayer
for all nations, but they had made it a den
of thieves and He purged it to fulfil the
law, so that as that house of God had
been dedicated to God and cleansed at
that time, so it now finished its purpose
with the cleansing of Christ, foretelling
that there would be a new house, a new
Fathers house established. He even told
His apostles that there would not be one
stone left that had not been overturned
of that house, and yet now He was telling
them in His Fathers house there are
many mansions. They did not quite
understand and they asked Him
questions, but He was foretelling the
birth of the church.
The church is the house of His Father.
The church has to
be a place of prayer
for every nation in
the world, and He
said that in His
Fathers house
there are many
mansions, meaning
that it is just not one
small house. There
are many mansions
all around the world
who make them-
selves and are drawn to be part of this
house, this church that should give all
honour and praise unto the Almighty
God. Indeed it must be a house of prayer
of all nations. Our Lord told His disciples
7
further how those prayers could only be
uttered. He said, I am the way, I am the
truth, I am the life; no one
comes to the Father but by
me. He promised that He
would return and take this
house unto Himself. He did
not just promise those who
were standing there that day,
for if that was the case they
are long gone and we would
have no hope. This house
when it is completed will be drawn unto
God through His Son, Christ, and then
will begin this restitution of all things that
are godly.
Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ
must become the head of this
house. He must become the
foundation. His deeds, His
teachings must be seen to be
born through this woman, the
church, as a child, and that is
our obligation. The obligation is
that until the church in great
travail brings forth the birth of
this child, the Jewish nation will not be
called back.
We see we have a further obligation,
and that obligation we have heard in the
Pastoral today will not come easy, for our
Lord told of the times that would come
within the world. He gave many warnings
of the things that we would see, and
certainly today we witness and see those
things. At the end of His teaching where
He spoke of the things that we would see
He gave a very important message. He
said, I say unto you and to all, watch.
One word watch. We must watch what is
happening in our lives, within the church,
within the world, and we must be sure
that in this conception period where we
are bringing forth one birth and one birth
only, and that is our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ, anything else that is added
to it will not be the birth that is
required from the Christian
Church, and particularly
through us where we have
been given the added
blessing of the Apostle
Ministry.
This was seen, this role of
the church and the birth that
is required by the Apostle
John in the Book of Revelation, and
accom-panying that what he saw was also
a great promise that should stand by us
and make us not fearful at all about those
things that our Lord taught, where He
said that we will see all these
things happening within the
world. We will see wars and
rumours of wars, and we see
that today. We will see
earthquakes in diverse places.
We will see great tribulation.
We will see famine. We will see
all of those things.
In another part in the Book of
Revelation the Apostle John was shown
that there would be a period on earth
where we would see great hail come from
heaven. The size of each hail stone was
described and if we calculated it in our
language it would be the size of a motor
truck coming to earth and doing great
damage. He was foretelling what we see
in the world today with terrorist attacks. A
hail storm comes from no where we might
say. There is a gentleness and then
without warning a hail storm comes, and
as quickly as it comes it goes, and we see
that happening in the world today. There
is nothing to indicate, and then suddenly
there is a terrorist attack and much
damage is done, and it is over as quickly
8
I am the way,

to the Father
but by me.

as it started.
We within our churches are witnessing
all these things. In this land we have
witnessed flooding, we have witnessed
drought. In the land of Kenya they
witnessed a terrorist attack that took the
lives of many. In Pakistan a loaded vehicle
was driven into a church complex and a
hundred people were killed. We witness
all of these things, but we should not
become down hearted. We should put
our trust into the Lord. We can read what
Apostle John was shown in Revelation
Chapter 12 of the church:
And there appeared a great wonder in
heaven; a woman clothed with the sun,
and the moon under her feet, and upon
her head a crown of twelve stars: And she
being with child cried, travailing in birth,
and pained to be delivered. And there
appeared another wonder in heaven; and
behold a great red dragon, having seven
heads and ten horns, and seven crowns
upon his heads. And his tail drew the
third part of the stars of heaven, and did
cast them to the earth: and the dragon
stood before the woman which was ready
to be delivered, for to devour her child as
soon as it was born. And she brought
forth a man child, who was to rule all
nations with a rod of iron: and her child
was caught up unto God, and to his
throne. And the woman fled into the
wilderness, where she hath a place
prepared of God, that they should feed
her there a thousand two hundred and
three score days.
We see the fulfilment of the prophecy
of the prophet who said there had to be
travail, and there had to be a birth, and
until that happened then God will not call
back the Jewish nation unto this great
promise. We have seen the woman who
is the church, she was clothed with the
sun, the Sun of Righteousness which is
Christ who came as the Sun of
Righteousness. We see we must seek
righteousness at all times, for that is the
beginning of this birth of a one and only
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Righteousness must be sought
everywhere, within our lives, within the
church Sacraments.
Within our lives we can bring forth and
seek righteousness. Our Lord taught that
we should judge not and we shall not be
judged, but yet in another place He said
to judge righteously as He has judged
righteously. We can judge righteously in
our lives very easily. If we have someone
come to us and say - Did you hear about
this person and these things they did -
we are then at a point of test, we can join
in with that judgment, we can pass it on to
others, we can add to it which is the way
of man and woman, or we can judge
righteously. We can say That may well
be but look at all the good things that
person has done. The church would then
be robed in the Sun of Righteousness
and we would see the love of God, and
we would be doing what Christ did.
We see the moon was under her feet.
The moon represents the Apostle
teaching, for it is the moon that comes
out after the sun has gone down and
takes away the darkness of the world.
The moon gives us a new hope. Its
message is that there will be a new day
dawning and that is the message of the
Apostle Ministry. There will be a new day
dawning when our Lord returns, and it
gives us hope.
We can see that there was a crown of
twelve stars upon her head which means
that the Holy Ghost has been sent to
work through the Apostle Ministry to give
the teaching and the guidance necessary
9
to allow this woman to bring forth the birth
of this child.
We see that she was travailing and
pained. Surely there are times when we
see this travail and this pain which is
inflicted against the church. This woman
did not bow down to that. She brought
forth a child. Satan knows what is at stake
if this birth can be achieved, and we have
heard how he tried to prevent this in
many ways, but the child was brought
forth which was taken to the throne of
God, which shows us that we
must accept that Christ is the
One who is over us all, and then
that great promise that that
travail had now brought forth this
birth. The promise of the
prophets could now be fulfilled,
that the Jewish nation could
once again be called back to be
part of this elect lady and part of
this Kingdom of God, but yet
another obligation on the
church.
The Scripture teaches us and we have
heard that this woman was given a place
in the wilderness, the wilderness of the
world where she would be looked after
during this terrible and distressful time on
earth, she would be fed and nurtured
until the Lord Himself can come and take
the church unto Himself. That time is
necessary for the Jewish nation to be
called back to fulfil the promise of many of
the prophets.
We have heard in the Pastoral Letter
that the last trump will sound. If we search
the Jewish law we will find that is the last
part of the Jewish law that has not yet
been fulfilled. Christ fulfilled every other
part of the law except that which
happened at the Festival of Trumpets.
For the week the priests would blow their
silver trumpets to call the people to this
house of prayer. Those silver trumpets
are being sounded today through the
ministry throughout the whole world
calling the people into this house of
prayer. On the last day of that great
festival the highpriest himself would take
the golden trumpet and he would blow it
within the temple, and the people would
walk around the Altar and they would say,
Come Lord, come. And so we see how
God in His love has held back that last act
of the Highpriest, our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ, so that at
that point in time those who are
still trying to live under the law
can still be drawn under the law
unto the love of God through
His Son, and we can all then
unite this house, this house of
God, this world-wide house can
then say Come Lord come -
and we can then receive that
wonderful promise of the
Kingdom of God. Let us go into this new
year that stands before us - watching.
We have also heard in the Pastoral of
Christs warning, that many shall come in
His name and say I am Christ, and shall
deceive many. That has a greater
meaning than simply somebody coming
within our midst and saying I am Christ
follow me. We have to look and see what
roles Christ took on after He came into
this world. The Apostle John writes that
there was nothing created in this world
that we see that was not created by
Christ. He created everything. He was
part of the creation. When we hear
someone telling us that the world we see
was not created by God, he is saying to
us I am Christ, for he is taking over that
role of Christ. Christ was there at the
creation of marriage of man and woman,

and when we hear in the world today
even a prominent person saying that we
should break down the marriage that God
created and allow other marriages, they
are saying I am Christ. If we have
someone telling us that they will be the
only group that partake of this great
promise, they are saying I am Christ. If we
have someone telling us ignore the
hungry, ignore the thirsty, then they are
saying I am Christ. Everything that He
said, everything that He did, He is Christ
and He alone. We have to develop our
life into looking at everything we see
happening in the world and ask ourselves
Did Christ say that or is that the role of
Christ? If it is not, He then did not say go
out and rebel, He just simply said Hear
them not. Let us not hear these things.
Let us not take them into our lives.
Let us, as our obligation is, to bring
forth the birth of this one and only Son of
God, this one and only child, this one
who is above all and will always be above
all, and that is our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ. Make Him the life of the church
and God will be pleased. Amen

Text is from Pastoral Letter for
Christmas 2013
Psalm 3:8 Salvation belongeth unto
the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy
people. Once again by the Grace of
Christ, we celebrated the fulfilment of this
prophecy. This blessing referred to the
promise given Abraham and reconfirmed
through Isaac and Jacob, almost 1000
years before Genesis 28:14 And thy
seed shall be as the dust of the earth,
and thou shalt spread abroad to the west,
and to the east, and to the north, and to
the south: and in thee and in thy seed
shall all the families of the earth be
blessed. We as families, and part of the
universal family of God spoken by
Apostle John 1:12 But as many as
received him, to them gave he power to
become the sons of God, even them that
believe on his name, can come together
at this time to give thanks and praise to
the Almighty God for this greatest gift
given to mankind and thanks to our Lord,
Jesus Christ, in being prepared to give
up the glory with His Father, to be born
into a world with no hope of salvation, to
be subjected to all manner of temptation
and persecution, to win a means of
salvation for all mankind. The conception
resulting in this special birth required
wisdom from God which had been
foretold Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord
himself shall give you a sign, behold, a
virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and
shall call his name Immanuel. The Bible
teaches us that almost 800 years later,
Mary a virgin, was to be highly favoured
and chosen to have this son, by
conception from the Holy Ghost Luke
1:35 And the angel answered and said
unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come
upon thee, and the power of the Highest
shall over shadow thee: Therefore also
the holy thing which shall be born of thee
shall be called the Son of God. It was
necessary to happen this way, so that
one could be born into the world without
inheriting the original sin of the first
created man, Adam. 1 Corinthians 15:47
The first man is of the earth, earthly: the
second man is the Lord from heaven.
With this birth came the fulfilment of the
prophecy in Psalm 2:4-7 He that sitteth
in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall
have them in derision. Then shall he
speak unto them in his wrath, and vex
11
them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I
set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will
declare the decree, the Lord hath said
unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I
begotten thee.
Today we are again reminded of the
wonderful blessing that was given to the
earth when God became man. It was a
blessing that confounded Satan. It
confounded all the wise and the wisdom
at that time on how God could bring about
the reconciliation of mankind back unto
Him again. He had promised that through
the seed of Abraham and his
descendants would one come that would
be able to bring a blessing to every family
in the world, not a natural blessing, but
the greatest blessing of the restoration of
Gods promise to mankind that he could
live with Him eternally in the highest of
heavens.
This blessing we know came about with
the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ and then began a period of time
where He had to convince, we would say,
the people at that time that He was the
one listed in that blessing. We have
heard how the Psalmist wrote that God
would say that this is my only begotten
Son. We read in the Scriptures where
many of the prophets foretold that this
would happen, that God would be able to
say that this is His beloved Son. All of
these, if we follow them and we think of
our own place in our life, they were all
from we would say from third parties.
They were issuing words that God would
say these things and God would provide
these things. Now not that any of us
doubt a third party, but there is always
that confidence expressed when we hear
the promise or the words direct from the
one who has to say those things.
It was no different for the children of
Israel in those days. In fact, they under
their law if they were to believe an
accusation against somebody or believe
something against someone it had to be
witnessed to them three times to be valid.
We can see that although they had
read these things, and even for
ourselves we hear these things from a
third party, it is of extreme importance to
us to understand and to hear of the
greatest witness that is in the Bible at this
period of time, the birth of our Christ and
what His labour would be. It is known in
Christian history as the Divine Word. The
Divine Word can only come from the
Divine who is God. God had to fulfil every
tittle of the law. He had to give the Divine
Word so that there could be no doubt in
anybodys mind from that time on that
God had become man, that Christ was
indeed the Christ, the Son of the living
God.
We live in a period of time where we can
call on that Divine Word to verify our faith,
and to strengthen the faith of ourselves
and others by showing them this Divine
Word. The first recording of this Divine
Word, we realise there was very little
recorded in Christs upbringing from God,
and the reason for that was that God had
to allow our Lord to show to the world that
He could overcome the temptations of
this world and the lusts of the flesh. He
had to use that power that was in man.
Every man from the birth of Adam was
given choice, and He used that choice for
thirty years, but now came the great test.
He had to face the temptations of Satan
as did the first man and woman, and for
that He required something special, and
that special gift was the Holy Ghost that
was given unto Him, a power higher than
Satan who was an angel.
Now it became very clear that the world
12
had to know and Satan had to
know who he was dealing with,
for our Lord had fulfilled the
overcoming of the flesh and the
overcoming of the lusts of the
world for thirty years. The first
divine message or the divine
call or the divine words that came
to this world after so many years
of silence from God, we can read
in Matthew Chapter 3, that it
happened when our Lord came
out of the River Jordan, and we
find written in verses 16 & 17:
And Jesus, when he was
baptized, went up straightway
out of the water: and, lo, the
heavens were opened unto him,
and he saw the Spirit of God
descending like a dove, and lighting
upon him: And lo, a voice from heaven,
saying, This is my beloved Son, in
whom I am well pleased.
The voice came direct from heaven,
direct from God. God had spoken direct
to the world a divine message that This is
my beloved Son, in whom I am well
pleased. We see that was foretold that
God would say, This is my only begotten
Son, have now taken place for the first
time. We must remember that there
have to be three times for it to be
convincing and to be accepted
under the Jewish faith. Satan then
knew that this was indeed the Son of
God, and he then went about to destroy
Him through temptation, but we know our
Lord was victorious, and in that victory
Satans head was bruised and he had to
leave the Lord so that He could then fulfil
His mission on this earth without any
interference directly from Satan. He
proved He was the Son of God.
The second time that God spoke
this divine message from heaven
we find written in Matthew Chapter 17
verses 1-5, where our Lord took some of
His apostles up into the mountain and
was transfigured before them, and an
event took place which necessitated God
once again for the second time giving this
divine message to the earth, and we find
written:
And after six days Jesus taketh Peter,
James, and John his brother, and
bringeth them up into an high mountain
apart, And was transfigured before them:
and his face did shine as the sun, and his
raiment was white as the light. And
behold, there appeared unto them
Moses and Elias talking with him. Then
answered Peter, and said unto Jesus,
Lord, it is good for us to be here: If thou
wilt, let us make here three tabernacles;
one for thee, and one for Moses, and
one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold,
a bright cloud overshadowed them: and
behold a voice out of the cloud, which
said, This is my beloved Son, in
13
This is my beloved son, in whom I
am well pleased.
whom I am well pleased; hear ye
him.
We see the second divine message
direct from God, and it was added to the
first. It was added to tell the apostles at
that time, because before them was
Moses representing the law and Elias the
prophets. Now God was telling them that
those periods now would be superseded
by the living Word of God. Our Lord
Himself had taught that the law and the
prophets were to John, and from then
the Kingdom of God would be preached.
He was telling the world that now a new
way was coming, this was His beloved
Son hear ye Him. We see that He gave
validity a second time to the calling our
Lord was His only begotten Son, and He
gave unto Him some added blessings or
added instructions that the world into the
future would be led by the Word of God,
and the Word of God would be Christ,
and all His teachings would be the way
that leads us into the future. We see that
the second divine message direct from
God to the earth was now in place.
We find a third time God spoke to
fulfil the law and to make it
unquestionable in anyones hearts that
God has declared Christ as His Son, so
that there can be no doubt from that day
forth, and we find written in John Chapter
12 verses 23-32, where our Lord was
preparing for the final blessing to the
earth. He was preparing for His trial. He
was preparing, for He knew what stood
before Him, and God spoke unto the
people so that they could understand
that this was indeed His Son, and we find
in Chapter 12 verses 23 on as follows:
And Jesus answered them saying,
The hour is come, that the Son of man
should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say
unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall in
the ground and die, it abideth alone: but
if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that
loveth his life shall lose it; and he that
hateth his life in this world shall keep it
unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let
him follow me; and where I am there shall
also my servant be: if any man serve me,
him will my Father honour. Now is my soul
troubled and what shall I say? Father,
save me from this hour: but for
this cause came I unto this hour.
Father, glorify thy name. Then came
there a voice from heaven, saying, I
have both glorified it, and will
glorify it again. The people therefore,
that stood by, and heard it, said that it
thundered: others said, An angel spake
14
This is my beloved son, in whom
I am well pleased.
to him. Jesus answered and said,
This voice came not because
of me, but for your sakes. Now
is the judgment of this world: now
shall the prince of this world be cast
out. And I, if I be lifted up from the
earth, will draw all men unto me.
We see that God even spoke and
said that He had spoken twice
before, but He will once again
speak, and He will glorify His Son to
show that there will be no doubt in
anybodys mind that God became
man into the world, and the only way
to salvation is through our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ. Many people
thought it thundered, but our Lord
said that these words came from His
Father, not for His sake but for the
worlds sake so that none of us
would ever doubt that Jesus Christ
is the Son of God. This is the faith
that we must have. There can be no
greater witness, no greater divine
message than the three speakings
from God direct to this earth. Let us
always be strengthened by this.
At the time that this was promised by
the Psalmist, he also saw a time in the
world in which we are living and heading
towards today, and that time he recorded
in Psalm Chapter 2:
Why do the heathen rage, and the
people imagine a vain thing? The kings of
the earth set themselves and the rulers
take counsel together, against the Lord,
and against his anointed, saying, Let us
break their bands asunder, and cast away
their cords from us. He that sitteth in the
heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have
them in derision. Then shall he speak
unto them in his wrath, and vex them in
his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my
king upon my holy hill of Zion.
The Psalmist foretold that the rulers of
the world and those in power will ridicule
the Lord. They will break the bands, they
will throw them asunder. We see in the
world today this happening as the laws of
God and the commandments of Christ are
thrown asunder. The Psalmist saw that
He was sitting in heaven and He laughed
at them, because He knows and He told
us that He has given us the King of Zion,
the head of the church, His only
begotten Son, and He will see the time
when all of those who turn against this,
will have to face the wrath of God, but
those who recognise Him and accept Him
as the Christ, the Son of the living God,
as the Apostle Peter said by the Holy
Spirit, the gates of hell shall not prevail
against them. Amen
15
Father,
save me from this hour: but for
this cause came I unto this
hour. Father, glorify thy
name.
I have
both glorified it, and
will glorify it again.
This voice
came not because
of me, but for
your sakes.
LENT, GOOD FRIDAY AND EASTER
The period of Lent and the events we observe
and celebrate on Good Friday and Easter should
inspire us to meditate sincerely on what our Lord
Jesus Christ has achieved for all faithful believers.
Lent is the period of time when we look to the
example set for us by Jesus as recorded in St. Luke
Chapter 4 when he was led by the Holy Spirit into the
wilderness of sin, tempted for forty days by Satan, and
was victorious in that great battle over all temptations.
The Lord did not accept anything of Satan in any way.
The Lord Jesus did not forsake God in any way, and as
part of the Lord's Church, we need to commit
ourselves to review our lives to overcome the
temptations that may be leading us to wander from
God's ways and fall into the temptation of sin. The words of St. Matthew 3:16-17 tell us that
Christ, in the flesh needed the anointing of the Holy Spirit to fulfil the mission His father had
placed upon Him, to overcome all sin and temptation. We also have this blessing and can avail
ourselves of the Holy Spirit within our lives.
The sources of temptation are Satan, the world, and the flesh. Let us live through this
time of Lent with the Holy Spirit as our guide, so we may, in some measure under God's
blessings, deny ourselves and gain victory over the temptation of sin.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God:
because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he
that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Our Guide to Apostolic Community Life tells us Good Friday is a day of worship in
remembrance of the crucifixion, death, and burial of our Lord Jesus, and the great importance
of the sacrifice of His life's blood, as the atonement for our sins.
Good Friday is truly a day of thanksgiving, a day of reflection, and a time to think on the
great love of God and Christ. Until the time that our Lord Jesus Christ came as the lamb of God
and gave Himself as a righteous and perfect sacrifice to atone for the sins of the world,
mankind was separated from God by a great darkness of sin. Christ's sacrifice removed that
barrier, heaven and earth could now be reconciled, and grace and salvation be available to
mankind.
Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that
look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
On Easter Sunday we come to worship and give thanks in remembrance of the
resurrection of the Lord Jesus. He arose from the grave and overcame the death of the body.
He now was victorious over the enemies of God - sin, Satan, hell and death. Belief in the bodily
resurrection of the Lord gives great hope to the Church in the promise that He made in St. John
6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth
on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Let us resolve over this Lenten period and Easter Festival to walk with the Lord in spirit
and be strengthened in faith.

ALTAR SERVANTS SEMINAR 2013
Friday, 25th October, 2013 many altar
servants gathered at Chaverim, near
Bundaberg, for the annual seminar. It was a
pleasure to have Priest Peet Vorster and
Evangelist Theo van der Nest from New
Zealand join us. This was the first time that
many of us had had the opportunity to meet
Priest Peet in person and it was a delight to
see Bro. Theo once again. We were welcomed
by Apostle Cliff and united in a prayer of
petition for the conference to be blessed.
During the seminar we were able to discuss
many important topics for the church
including, Safety within the communities,
Sunday School and Youth ideas, the
importance of Forgiveness in our lives, the
new edition of the Book of Faith, an update on
the progress of the United Apostolic
Volunteers Foundation and many other
topics. Bro. Theo gave a presentation
showing the events in the Bible, concluding
with the Gospel of Mark. A big thank you to all
officers who assisted with the presentations.
Saturday morning we welcomed a guest
speaker - David Lawson from Finding the
Light. David offers a professional counselling
service to individuals and couples with
personal and emotional issues and discussed
the disease of Depression with us, and
particularly how we can deal with it. This
was a very interesting and informative
session and was beneficial to all officers.
On both Friday and Saturday evening we
put down our Bibles for a moment and
picked up our hymn books to practice some
male choir hymns for Divine Service on
Sunday. Thank you to Sis. Pamela Keune
for accompanying the choir once again.
The seminar provides a great opportunity
for all altar servants to spend some extra
time together and strengthen the bond of

Why Are We Here?
We've come together from the coast and the west,
When we might have stayed home, to a night off and rest,
Our motives not greed or self indulgent,
Rather, concern for Brethren, around the world in their
hundreds.
Play a tune, sing a song, Apostle Cliff invites,
Not so himself, mind, 'cos he doesn't sing right,
But encouraged are all, to contribute their bit,
To raise needed funds and make the night a big hit.
And where shall they go, these funds that are raised?
To the worlds furthest corners, we've all been amazed,
A slim hold on life we witness of many,
A helping hand offered, from we who have plenty.
Our Philippine friends, we've known well for years,
What they're asked to endure, brings strong men to tears,
Their example of faith shines so bright and clear,
They trust only in God, without doubt or fear.
In far flung Africa, the Kenyan people are found,
War torn and ravaged, so often let down,
None the less, they've now hope born anew,
Through prayers, hands, and wallets, and love born of you.
India called as the work there was stalled,
Like the Anzacs before us, we've answered the call,
New members attracted, but their tongues are mixed,
Help sorely needed, enable God's work to be fixed.
Pakistan now joins the family united,
As the Lord paves the way, their souls are delighted,
Despite the struggle, midst men sore oppressed,
The touch of Gods spirit will see them refreshed.
A sole servant in Burma gives witness to trust,
The Lord will provide, but labour he must,
Adversary great, with blessed potential for gain,
Our task tonight, to help ease the pain.
Now Canada grand appears on the scene,
A beautiful land, either all white or green,
Gods grace just like snowflakes, now settles on some,
With more to follow, if the race we will run.
All for a cup of tea!

Across the waves to our east, land of the long white cloud,
New brethren there gather, full of thanks and aroused,
To the touch of Gods hand, that has brought them home,
To the roots of their faith, now they're not left alone.
What else, where else, we might well ask?
God knows that answer and chooses the cast,
'Twas once well said, no need to be able,
Just square up to the challenge, make yourself available.
Whether by prayer, by donation or deed,
We each have a calling, to help those in need,
Respond now to the call, let abundance abound,
That Gods love so precious, by many be found.
As the loaves and fishes fed those gathered to Christ,
Soften our souls, support those in spirit tonight,
Make a friend of the mammon, Gods word tells us true,
Here now is the chance, it awaits me and you.

While the foundation has ongoing projects
in many areas, attention turned strongly to
the Cebu area in the Philippines following the
devastating typhoon that affected so many.
Together with the sister organisation,
Philippine United Apostolic Volunteers
Foundation, the foundation has been able to
assist by implementing a five step plan:
1. Distribution of clothing from stocks held in
Manila; this has already been
implemented and will be ongoing.
2. Provide food packages to needy families.
Rice is sourced from Foundation Farmers
in unaffected areas and canned food is
added. Distribution is made direct to each
family by our volunteers to ensure all are
treated equally.
AS AN INDICATION, IT COSTS AUD$24
PER FAMILY TO PROVIDE FOOD FOR
THEM FOR SIX WEEKS.
3. Commence re-building houses; provide
leadership and funding for building
materials.
4. Move on to reconstruction of community
facilities and community buildings
destroyed.
5. Add extra capital to existing Foundation
Farmers Co-operative to fund farmers to
re-plant lost crops so that the food chain
can be operational as soon as possible.
Ongoing aid to the drought affected families
in Western Queensland has been able to
continue through donations by many, as well
as funding sought and received from Rotary
Club of Townsville South-West and the Honda
Foundation. The foundation has received
many letters of thanks from drought affected
families for the Personal Care Packs which
have been delivered to them. Following is an
example:
Dear Volunteers, On behalf of our family, I
would like to sincerely thank your Foundation
for the wonderful, morale-boosting drought
package that recently arrived. Thank you for
thinking of us the daily grind alone does
wear you down financially, emotionally and
physically and your package gave a much
needed boost knowing that others cared. May
the whole of the state be blessed with good,
soaking rains soon. Thank you to your
volunteers and Foundation for the work you
do under your motto Giving Hope, Sharing
Grace so appropriate for what you have
done for drought-stricken graziers. Bless
you.
Fundraising is continuing with sausage
sizzles and pie drives in some church
communities. The cookbook has been well
supported and sales are continuing as many
have been purchased in the new year. Books
are still available on request.
On Saturday, 28th December, a fundraiser
23
Western Communities round off the evening
was held at Bunnings Hardware store in
Albion, Brisbane. Bunnings have a nationwide
policy of supporting charitable organisations
through the operation of a sausage sizzle
outside the entrance to their stores, generally
on Saturdays and Sundays. Many volunteers
from the Nundah Community offered their time
to sizzle, sell and serve sausages in bread,
and sell drinks throughout the day, which
raised almost $600 after expenses. A large
stock of softdrinks and bottled water was
procured prior to Christmas, and this was paid
for in advance out of the proceeds of this
sausage sizzle, in preparation for another one
at Bunnings at Booval, Ipswich, in March
2014. The co-ordinator at Bunnings Booval
has advised that the sales volumes are about
four times the size of the Albion, so the Albion
experience was welcomed by all volunteers,
as the pace of preparation, cooking and sales
was fairly relaxed. An enjoyable day was had
by all and, thankfully, volunteers were
blessed with a positive outcome for the
benefit of the foundation, as well as the
fellowship of those who were involved.
Thank you to all who volunteered their time
and enthusiasm!

We have been advised of the
passing of Apostle William (Bill) Erry
on 2nd February, 2014 at the age of
90 years. His funeral took place at

wife, Sister Val, had passed away
during 2004. He served tirelessly for
many years in many countries, but
worked mostly in India until his
retirement during 1994. Even in his
retirement he was always active in
serving the Lord. His Words of Life
have been used extensively
throughout the church and his
translations have been invaluable.
He will be remembered by many
members from his visits to
Queensland and India. Rest in
Peace Apostle Bill.

located in the Sabarkantha District. Divine Service was at 11am but delayed for an
hour due to traffic jams on the way. When we reached there we greeted each other
and had very spiritual moments together during the service. We moved on to a very
remote area in the evening, we met Pr. Ditaji at Palbavaliya community where we
held a service at his home, some 26 souls were in attendance. This is a new
community and the future care of this area has been assigned to Ev. Kacharaji. It is
our wish that the bride of Jesus Christ can be prepared here, just as everywhere
else, for His return.
A new day begins in God's work - in the hotel room we woke up early in order to
get ready and travel to Ansol Community, it was 12th Dec. We visited the
community member's home, after service, as per the arrangements made we met the

REPORT JAN.- 2014
The New Year begins with praise, thanks, worship and meditating on the
Pastoral Letter for 2014 which inspire a deeper commitment to living the Christian
faith. New Year Services were well attended in all communities in Gujarat India.
We are thankful that God has provided living apostles in present time for His work
and we are also thankful to have a number of stable communities and faithful
ministers in India.
We started our journey on 14th Jan. We first arrived at Samlaji community in
the afternoon. Arrangements were made by Ev. Sakarabhai for a service at Pr. Jivaji
Tabiad's home. Some 38 souls were gathered in the home service, then visit some of
the members homes and had fellowship. We returned to the hotel and took rest in
the night. 15th Jan. morning we travelled to Kadwad community where we visited
some of the members who were in ill health and we prayed for them. Evening we
visited the community member's home at Vasai in Sabarkantha District. On 16th
Jan. we began to travel, after around 20 kms suddenly our car stopped, it was a
mechanical problem in the car finally solved by the driver. We reached late, but
33
our mission was fulfilled, we visited the members of Jambudi community and had a
prayer meeting. After a busy day we went to the hotel, ate food and prepared
ourselves for the next day service. It was a special day for the Ansol community on
17th Jan. During the Divine Service, 15 children were baptized who came from
various communities of Sabarkantha District. It was indeed a very spiritual
moment for all, especially for the children and parents as well. A really good home
made food was cooked which was truly enjoyed by all. On 18th Jan. after the home
service, myself and Ev. Sakarabhai conducted a Bible teaching session for children
at Vantada community some 14 children had attended the class, after that everybody
enjoyed chocolates and cakes followed by a nice meal. Evening we travelled to
Zalod.
On 19th morning we set about our travel to Hadmatkhuta community where
during the service 25 children were baptized from various communities of Dohad
District. On that occasion, explained to the community about our understanding of
salvation and Holy Baptism. Food was prepared and all enjoyed it together. In the
evening we reached to Dhavadiya community where we hold a service and a Bible
teaching session for children was arranged. All were so earnest and truly inspired
by the Holy Spirit. They were taught to align their lives to the Gospel of Christ and
thus prepare themselves for His return and eternal life. All were fed and had
fellowship. After a very busy day we reached the hotel and retired to bed early.
Again a new day filled with strength and hope we started our journey on 20th Jan.
We were warmly welcomed by Chanasar community, visited member's home and
also met some new families there, had a brief discussion with them on Apostolic
faith. Afternoon we reached at Gamdi community where we hold a service at Pr.
Devji Dhirjibhai's home and had fellowship. On 21st Jan. we pack our bags and check
out from the hotel and begin our journey towards the Panchmahal District,
afternoon we reached at Lilesara community where we met Pr. Sailesh, greet the
members from this new area and then we hold a service - some 30 souls were in
attendance. It was very joyful and blessed time for all. This was the last day of our
mission trip, in the evening we travelled to Ahmedabad.
We are thankful to God for this successful mission, with prayers we wish that
the Lord's work can also be accomplished in this part of the world.
Greetings to all.

all were very happy with the Christmas cheer afforded them from assistance from Australia and
locally. The work continues obtaining Title Deeds for all church properties as it is most
important that this be completed as soon as possible. School has started again and all children
have been assisted in this regard. Regular Officers Meetings are held to discuss the teaching
as sent and other matters for the future welfare of the church. The artificial leg for amputee Bro.
Mzee OKari is under way. As well as the Christmas gifts for the children, food baskets were
distributed to 37 very needy families. Each basket contained:

NEW ZEALAND
The New Year started off well here in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our communities after the
Christmas period have started again with Divine Service. We ended off 2013 on a high note and
we celebrated in Hamilton with a large function where we invited one and all. At the start of 2014
we had an Officers Seminar which was well attended. We continue steadfast in the Apostles
doctrine (Acts 2:42), through prayers, breaking of bread and visiting members. A focus for us
here is to be a place of shelter for people. Where we have had drought in the past few years at
this time, the Lord has blessed us with good rain. All members are thankful for the continued
Grace that we receive from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. To all our brothers and sisters,
please remember you are always in our prayers.
Evangelist Theo
"Firstly, we are thankful to God for His guidance and leading here in Auckland and also
for the loving support of our brethren in Hamilton. Divine Service in Auckland is held at
Ponsonby Hall every first Sunday of the month, and the rest of the weeks are held at home
at Northshore as well as the bread break service every Wednesday. We are glad that some
friends and colleagues attended both the Divine and mid-week services. Our experience
here gives us a lot of opportunities and drive to share God's Word, though it is a bit tough
since the culture here is different compared in the Philippines, but through the power and
leading of the Holy Spirit, we believe that nothing is impossible with God and this ministry
will grow for His glory. Many groups of Christians who are active in different churches are
curious about Apostolic faith but this gives us a chance to show and share our faith to
every people we met. Also, God made us understand that the best way to encourage
people in Apostolic faith is not only through the words we share but through the kind of life
we live for Christ. We are thankful also for all the prayers from the rest of our brethren. We
know that there are lot of challenges ahead of us for this year, but we know that God
made us as conquerors and we can
overcome these through Christ who
strengthens us. We are excited for this year
for all the wonderful and great things God will
do in our lives especially in the ministry.
Let's keep the unity, sincere faith and love to
God because our labour is not in vain for the
Lord. Please send our love and warm regards
from my family to all our brethren throughout
the world".

All are welcome from any Apostolic tradition.
If in need of some traditional Apostolic
fellowship, we are the church for you.
CANADA
Bishop Edwin reports freezing weather in Canada during this period. They certainly had a
White Christmas with severe ice storms that are worse than snow storms as they bring down
trees, branches and awnings and make it very difficult to travel. Despite this blessed
Christmas and New Year services were held although numbers were down to approximately 70
members due to the weather.

PHILIPPINES
All have received reports of the massive typhoon that struck part of the Philippines and
caused so many deaths and so much destruction affecting the lifestyle and employment of so
many. Unfortunately, there has been other smaller ones following, that have caused flooding in
the affected and nearby areas. Our churches and members affected are in the adjoining areas
where much hardship was also felt. Prayers came from all around the world and assistance of
clothing and funds for relief came from the church in Holland, Germany, North Queensland, as
well from many well wishers in Queensland. An organized programme was under the care of
Bishop Jimmy and this all brought a comfort to members and families in the affected areas. This
will be ongoing.
PHILIPPINE UNITED APOSTOLIC CHURCH
JANUARY 10, 2014
Dear Apostle Cliff,
In behalf of our officers and members from Cebu and Mindanao District, we
thank you for the relief clothing and for dry goods assistance distributed last
December 3 to 10, 2013 through elder Danilo Ravina.
Again, our officers and brethren stand on their feet to continue our journey
and service for the Lord.
Please give also our appreciation and gratitude to all members and donors of
United Apostolic Volunteers Foundation, abroad (Australia).
Sincerely yours,
Bishop Jimmy B. Soriano
Despite these happenings all communities reported well attended Advent, Christmas and
New Year services which brought blessings to all. Church improvements have been added to
many sites through voluntary labour and communities continue to grow. The Book of Faith is
being distributed and is a blessing. Elder Lascay from Zone 1 at Mindanao in his annual report
wrote as follows:
PHILIPPINE UNITED APOSTOLIC CHURCH, INCORPORATED
Alegria Community of Surigao Del Norte,
Island of Mindanao
January 8, 2014
First of all, I would like to say once again, Happy New Year 2014 and greetings
to all our beloved Brethren under the Banner of the United Apostolic Church both
in and out of the Philippine Island. Thank you so much for your prayers and I am
glad to tell you all that by the grace of the Lord, we are all well and also safe in the
hands of the Almighty God during the recent Super typhoon Yolanda, after 300
kilometre per hour winds and waves of up to 20 feet had destroyed hundreds of
houses and killed thousands of people and the other lives were missing until this
writing in the City of Tacloban. The people of Surigao del Norte a Mainland with its
places has been affected also of the calamities and many houses were destroyed
and even one fisherman in Surigao was killed on that event. Therefore, I could say,
we are now living in turbulent times. So, we should learn how to be born again
rightly and love sacredly one another as Christ has commanded us to do so before it
might be too late. We must work for the sake of our salvation and not based on the
earning power of mammon, but by the power of real Faith unto God.
All communities have committed their efforts to work for the Lord in 2014, by His Grace.

SOUTHERN DISTRICT NEWS
On the weekend of Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September 2013, the officers and members of
the Apostolic Church of Queensland, Southern District, gathered at the cathedral at Hatton
Vale to commemorate the 130th anniversary of the commencement of the church in Australia,
and also to celebrate the Year of the Child.

Sister Ida Schipplock passed away on 28th November, 2013 and her funeral took place at
Hatton Vale on 3rd December. Edie, as she was well known, was a former member of the
Mackay Community.
Eulogy for the late IDA SCHIPPLOCK (Also known as Edie).
Ida Schipplock was born on the 28th March, 1916, at Mackay Queensland, to parents
Otto Janz and Louisa Marie (nee Kaddatz). She was the first of eight children. When Ida was
born her father was working as a labourer on Gibsons cane farm at the back of Racecourse
Mill near Mackay.
During the 1918 tidal wave and cyclone, Ida was taken by her mother, who was heavily
pregnant with her second child, to her grandmothers home in Goldsmith Street. With the
rising flood waters they, along with other family members, were forced to spend several days
in the ceiling of the home having gained access through the manhole.
44
Officers and members of the Apostolic Church of Queensland, Southern District, gathered at the cathedral at
Hatton Vale to commemorate the 130th anniversary of the church in Australia,
and to celebrate the Year of the Child.
Ida started school at Tekowai School near
Racecourse Mill and after a year the family
returned to the farm in Archibald Street. She
then attended Mackay Central School, walking
2.5 miles each way. When starting school, her
only language was German, which was spoken
at home. On the way home she would often
have to pick up meat for the evening meal.
She recalled that topside was seven pence a
pound and sausages were sixpence a pound.
Vegetables were grown in the family garden
and water was pumped by hand and carried to
the plants by bucket. Ida left school at age 13
so that she could help her mother at home and
her father on the farm.
Ida was always a very faithful person in the
church. As a child she would always do as her
officers told her. She was confirmed in the
German language as at the time the entire
service was held in German. She loved music
and after she was confirmed she sang in the
church choir, which was in German. Her
siblings still talk of the evenings when Ida
would play the accordion for a family sing-a-long after the evening meal. Ida was also a
good horse rider and often went riding with her younger brother, Norman.
At 14 she started working part time and at 15 started working for Mrs Condie, where she
earned 15 shillings a week working 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week with one Sunday a month
off. She rode her bike to work and home each day and worked on and off for Mrs Condie
for thirty years.
Ida met her first husband, Walter Thomas Simple, at a working bee at the Apostolic
Church in Mackay. He was living and working at Munbura and became friends with the
Graffunder family who suggested he accompany them to the working bee. Being the
mischievous person he was, while painting the church he also painted her bicycle. When Wally
asked her out, Ida first took him to meet her priest, Priest Flor, for permission. The priest
approved Wally for a relationship. The couple married on 11th July, 1942. They rented a
small cane cutters cottage from Eddie Walz at Munbura for five shillings a week. There was
no water at the house and it had to be carried up from the creek in buckets. The cottage had
a wood fuelled stove and copper. When the washing was finished, the hot water from the
copper was used to scrub the floors and the table inside the house. Ida would meet the rail
motor twice a week to pick up their bread from Mackay.
Ida and Wally rode their bicycles from Munbura to church in Peel Street, Mackay, every
Sunday. As they became known in the Munbura area, they were offered a ride with Joe
Hackett and his wife who used to attend the Catholic Church in River Street. Joe had a utility
and the four of them would sit in the front of the car, where Ida would have to sit on Wallys
lap. One Sunday, Joe stopped at the railway line at Bakers Creek and failed to see an
oncoming Troop Train. Soldiers sitting on the steps of the carriages had to quickly move to
stop being caught between the train and the vehicle. Following the accident, the car was pulled
back on to the road, the front wheel and mudguard straightened by a crowbar, and then
45
Late Sis. Ida (Edie) Schipplock
driven to church in Mackay.
They were blessed with four children; Alwyn, Joy, Basil and Estelle.
Soon after, Wally took sick and Ida was both father and mother to the family. Life was
very difficult at times. Her family and the members of the Apostolic Community in Mackay
rallied to build a feed house and chicken coop, and supply morale and financial support for
the family. Ida was forever thankful for this assistance. She never forgot these deeds.
Walter Thomas Simple passed from this life on 5th December, 1960.
Ida was introduced to Gustav Schipplock by the Bishop in Hatton Vale. He pursued a
relationship and asked her to marry him. Once again, in her faith, Ida spoke to her officer,
Bishop Flor, for approval of the marriage. Ida and Gus married on the 16th December,
1962 at Mackay. Gus had 4 children, Kevin, Phyllis, Raymond and Brian. She accepted the
family as her own.
Idas move to Brisbane was quite an experience. Her sense of direction was so bad that if
she thought she needed to go left, she would go to the right and that would be correct.
Ida made the most of her life at Coopers Plains, where both families lived in Kevins
house. They later moved to Rocklea into their own home. Ida was the homemaker and
mother to all 8 children.
In 1974 flood water went through their home up to the window sills. Ida lost a lot of her
old photos and papers from her past. Meanwhile the family kept growing, which pleased her
greatly. More grandchildren to love and be loved.
Ida never gave up her dream to learn to play music and at 70 years of age she purchased
an electric keyboard and started having her long awaited music lessons. She was not a show
musician but she did very well for her age and the family was so proud of her.
Ida and Gus celebrated their Silver Wedding in 1987 at Oxley Apostolic Church.
In 1996, Gustav Schipplock passed away. In 1999, Brian and Estelle built a new home at
Oxley and made provisions for Ida to move in with them. The family home was sold and in
August 2000, Ida moved to Oxley where she resided for the next 13 years. Part of life of
living in a Janitors home meant she was always first at church and last to leave, but never
was a complaint made.
Ida was admitted to the P.A. Hospital on the 9th November, 2013, then transferred to
Palliative Care at Canossa Private Hospital where she passed away peacefully on 28th
November.
IDA SCHIPPLOCK is survived by
1 Brother and 1 Sister
8 Children and 5 In-laws
16 Grandchildren
35 Great Grandchildren
15 Great, Great Grandchildren.
IDA lived three lives while she was with us. As a girl and a young woman she was Ida
Janz where she learned her faith and became a respected member of the Apostolic
Community in Mackay. When she married and had her family she was Ida Simple the
mother of her four children and a loving wife to her husband. After Wally Simple passed
away, she married Gus Schipplock and became Ida Schipplock where she gained four more
children and became the special mother to her children, grandchildren, and great
grandchildren.
She has now entered the fourth life where Peace will reign for eternity and the path of her
three previous lives has led her.

The month of November saw the Nundah
members pack more clothes for the
Philippines. It has been noted that the quality
of the clothes is very good.
Priest Neil and Sister Maree Hickson, along
with other family members travelled to
America and Mexico to attend the wedding of
Sis. Marees daughter. She married a
Canadian and guests travelled from Australia
and Canada. The group arrived in Los Angeles
and was overwhelmed by the vastness of the
airport complex and the smog hanging over
the city. That night they searched for a place
to eat and found the Outback Shack.
Curious as to the name, they went inside and
there was a large amount of Australian
artifacts, flags, boomerangs, sharks, etc. A
review of the menu showed that the owners
had not been to Australia. One glaring menu
item that was definitely not Australian was
fries (covered) with cheese. The following
days saw visits to Disneyland and Universal
Studios, which were enjoyed. The art of
deception was discovered on the street sets
for Desperate Housewives, etc. where the
houses are three-sided with no back - just
skeletons of buildings! A visit to Beverley
Hills showed vast differences from extreme
wealth to extreme poverty and homeless
persons. Mexico was very hot and humid!
The weather was fine for the period of time
they were there. Mexico does not seem to
have any building regulations as there were
many buildings that would not be acceptable
in Australia. Australia is still home and we do
not know how fortunate we are in this country.

meal followed by Christmas Carols and songs.
The tables were decorated by Sister Maree
and Sister Roz, and there were many positive
comments about the effort. Deacon Bret
Leisemann pre-recorded the carols and songs
and gave a brief explanation of the history of
the items that were sung. All members and
visiting friends had a very enjoyable evening
and went home happy and contented.
Later that night, Priest Neil received a
telephone call from Sister Leonne Waters to
say that Darren and Roselie Ostrofski had
been involved in a motor vehicle accident.
Thankfully there were no injuries, but their car
was written off.
The Christmas Eve Service was again held,
with a good attendance. It was most pleasing
to hear the children say thank you when
they received their gifts.
The cookbooks were purchased by many
members which was pleasing to see, as all
moneys go to the Foundation.
On 15th December, Priest Wayne
Schneider visited Nundah and assisted during
service. It is always a great blessing when
visiting altar servants labour in the community
as it provides an uplift for all.
Christmas Day Service was well attended.
Many members then left the community to
visit family and the Boxing Day, New Year
period saw small attendances.
The 28th December saw members of the
community work at their first Bunnings BBQ
stall and the experience gained there will help
with the next one in March 2014.
A proverb in the Catechism states that with
every turning of time we should look backward
and look forward. In looking back over the
past year the Nundah Community has had
much to be thankful to the Almighty God for.
Looking forward, we hope that Gods
Blessings will be given unto us in the Year of
Grace 2014.

and singing praises during these services and it
was such a joy to see their smiling faces when
they received their gifts.
We have had many visitors to the community
in the last few weeks, including Priest Gavin
Lerch and family from Bundaberg, and many
other officers and their families. The community
has received some showers of rain in the last
few weeks and we give thanks for this blessing
and realise that God is the giver of these
blessings so we must pray at all times.
CABOOLTURE
The Silver Wedding day for Geoff and
Dulcie Marschke on 20th October will be long
remembered. We always enjoy a visit from
Bishop Alan and Sister Dawn Bramer and it
was nice to have them present for this day.
Members, friends, and family from afar
enjoyed the service, lunch, entertainment and
speeches. There were some touching
moments of choir and sisters singing, and
surprises including tin-kettling from the
Sunday School children.
As we have come to expect, the year
ended with a flurry of activity. With Priest
Bens birthday we united in thanksgiving and
petition for the Priest Office in our community.
On the same day we also celebrated Sister
Marlene Owens 80th birthday. Many of her
family were there, along with a large cake
enjoyed by all.
We enjoyed a visit from Bishop Alan and
Sister Carmel during their time in Brisbane for
medical treatment. After church they stayed
for our Kenya Appeal Hamburger lunch.
Several families travelled to the Western
District to celebrate Advent which coincided
with the birthday thanksgiving for Apostle Cliff
and the United Apostolic Volunteers
Foundation Annual Fundraising Concert. This
year the children and youth provided most of
our concert items. It was a great weekend.
Christmas tide was celebrated with carols

musical revival!
Brian James Arthur, firstborn son for Katie
and Jared Arthur, was baptised into the
church. The service was well attended with
many visitors from the Arthur, Temple and

GYMPIE
The quarter began with community thanks
on November 14th for blessings received
through the Evangelist Office. Elder Ken and
Sis. Narelle Muller, along with several other
families visited and a blessed day was
enjoyed by all. The community received a
great boost and we trust all in attendance felt
the joy of the Lord in their hearts. A hearty
lunch and good fellowship concluded the day.
We were fortunate to have with us for lunch on
the day, Katja Kaddatz and her travelling
companion Fred as he became fondly
known. They had been with us for some days
and were roped into working bees etc for their
trouble. They have since continued their
around Australia odyssey.
When the devastating news of the typhoon
damage in the Philippines arrived, we quickly
moved to contact Mila Johnson, wife of the
late Bro. Robert Johnson, who lives at
Cooloola Village near Tin Can Bay. Mila had
relatives directly affected by the disaster and
she moved quickly to spread the word among
her friends that they could donate clothing for
distribution to the needy. Just a few days
later a very large van rolled in, loaded to the
hilt with clothing and an array of other items.
This called for a local working bee to get them
sorted and packed, which the sisters and
children attended to with enthusiasm. The
clothes were transported to Nundah by Bro.
Rick Schneider, enroute from Bundaberg.
On December 8th, the community helped
Gary Atkinson celebrate his 60th birthday.
Gary has attended service with us since 1995
and these days his fiance Amanda attends
with him. Gary was very grateful for the
recognition of his special day. We also
gratefully received a beautiful hand painted
and fired china nativity set from a friend of
Sis. Joan Elfverson. This was used to add to
the Christmas Eve Service and was admired
by all.
With Christmas looming we were quite
relieved to receive a not uncommon offer from
the Men from Maryborough yet again, to
provide support, manpower and motivation to
complete some of the remaining work on pews
for the church, and fixtures and fittings for the
hall. Summoning up the necessary grunt to
take on these tasks locally was foreboding,
but the brothers from our northern boundary
again rode (or drove) to our assistance. In
one single day two more pews were fully
refurbished for use in the church and two
others spruced up for use in the porch. The
finished articles look great and add to the
good feel of the refurbished building. A large
map storage cabinet was stripped and
repainted to hold the children's felts in an
organised fashion. It has since been installed
in the store room of the church. Finally, all the
old wooden legs and ropes were removed from
the hall tables and replaced with neat upright
folding steel units, improving the versatility
and seating capacity of the tables,
significantly. Our thanks goes to this band of
merry men once again. May God bless you all
for your sacrifices. A buyer has been found
for the old iron off the church roof, so that will
soon be cleared from the yard.

Lunch enjoyed by all
Birthday cake is cut with lots of help
Of course, Christmas was the culmination
of the year. As usual we were provided with a
beautiful tree from the forestry plantations
(now HQ plantations). Goomeri Community
was also provided with a lovely tree, both of
which were taken from a section of forest
deliberately fired during the year. Our trees
were survivors among many lost and the
whole area was to be cleared and replanted.
Christmas Eve preparations were exciting
for the children who decorated the tree in no
time flat, there being greater numbers of
older, taller children than previously
experienced. Christmas Eve Service was
enjoyed by all including some first time
visitors. This event is a stretch for our small
community, but it is always deemed well
worthwhile after the fact. Christmas Day,
Boxing Day and New Year Services followed
and we all rejoiced in the goodness and
blessings showered upon the community.
We have experienced the joy of additional
attendees from the last quarter of 2013.
Whilst Christmas and other commitments
have fragmented attendance we have
welcomed the friendly disposition and
devotion to worship of those as they have
been able to attend. Our traditional Sunday
lunches continued through to the end of the
school year. We have all enjoyed the few
weeks change of pace with Sunday lunches
at home rather than the hall. Another couple
of weeks and we'll be back into the swing of
things. We wish all a safe and fulfilling 2014.

GOOMERI
After living through the busy time of
the year, with Advent, Christmas
Carols, Christmas Festival with open
lunch in the hall and New Year, we are
thankful for the blessings received
both naturally and spiritually in the
church, coupled with family
gatherings.
We now look forward to the New
Year with the Big Event in Goomeri
being the Church Centenary in April.
We are thankful for all visiting
officers and members during this
period.
We are praying and watching the
clouds, seeking a blessed rainfall. We
had some very hot days and nights
44 degrees on Saturday, 4th January
but cooler now.
Greetings from Goomeri.

BINJOUR
After service on Sunday, 3rd November
2013, Deacon Glen and Sister Tanya
Oppermann came before the altar to receive a
blessing on their Silver Wedding anniversary.
They were accompanied into the church by
their two children, Emma and Samuel.
Following service, all gathered in the hall for a
basket lunch and speeches. It was a blessed
day for the couple and the community.
On 15th December, with Sunday School
and Youth school drawing to a close for 2013,
Elder Wayne had a prayer of thanks for the
blessings for the year and presented books to
the Sunday School children.
On Sunday evening, 22nd December, we
had our carols evening with Malmoe
Community joining us and visitors coming
from near and far. We catered for 120 for the
evening. All enjoyed the cold meat and salad
meal followed by dessert of cakes and tarts.
Binjour choir sang followed by the Gayndah
Town choir. Elder Wayne then led the
programme with selected carols followed by
an address on The Christmas Tree. Priest
Justin led the request section. The night
finished with devotion and all went home
happy and in the Christmas spirit.
Christmas Eve Service came quickly.
Binjour only had two children in attendance
this year so the youth were asked and were
happy to assist the children with
singing. On Christmas Day it was
uplifting to have visitors for service
including Ev. Owen Bramer and
family from Townsville. Again at
Boxing Day Service, we were
blessed to have visitors including
Priest Wayne Schneider and family.
Once again, on New Years Day,
Malmoe joined Binjour Community for
service. It was nice to have visitors
for this day including Elder Doug and
Sister Elva Kirchner from
Bundaberg. Elder Doug conducted
the Thanksgiving Service for Elder
Waynes birthday. Following service,
we had birthday lunch in the hall,
followed by children singing and
speeches. Love and greetings to all
for the new year.

MALMOE
We have had a busy few months in Malmoe.
We had a blessed weekend with many
attending the United Apostolic Volunteers
Foundation fundraiser held here in
Mundubbera at the local Town Hall. Much
needed funds were raised for the foundation,
and an enjoyable night was had by all that
attended. Many visitors stayed to celebrate
Apostle Cliffs birthday at Binjour the following
day. Again a lovely day was had by all!
The Sunday School children made the most
of the warm weather and had an afternoon
outing at the Mundubbera pool. Everyone had
a lovely time playing in the cool water and
enjoyed a sausage sizzle afterwards in the
memorial shelter with some life size snakes
and ladders.
On Sunday, December 22nd, we joined with
the Binjour Community as well as many
members of the surrounding areas for the
annual Christmas Carols. Once again this was
a great night and continues to grow in the
local area.
Tuesday, December 24th started the
Christmas Festival, with Childrens Service on
Christmas Eve. Services were also held on
Christmas and Boxing Day. It was lovely to
have some visitors join us over the Christmas
Festival.
Malmoe was closed on New Years Day to
allow all the opportunity to join in unity at
Binjour for the New Year Festival and
thanksgiving service for another year of the
Elder Office in the district. All are thankful for
the many blessings received through the
Elder Office in the past year.
On a sad note, Sister Irene Mollenhauers
funeral was held in Malmoe on January 3rd.

EULOGY - Irene Margaretta
MOLLENHAUER
Irene Margaretta was born in
Mundubbera on the 28th September 1920,
the first of six children of Albert and
Margarette GLEICH.
Her early days were spent living on a
farm, where her parents were share
farmers.
Irene was about 4-5 years old when her
parents gave up farming and moved into
town where her father found employment
at the local butter factory.
When the time came for Irene to go to
school, Amanda, her younger sister could
not be kept at home, and followed her to
school, even though she was below school

age.
After a few years of working in the butter
factory, and having some health problems
because of constantly working in damp
conditions, grandfather selected some
land at Cattle Creek, approximately 16km
out of town. He borrowed some money to
purchase some cattle and a couple of
work horses, and the family moved to the
property just after Christmas of 1928. A
school was established there, but there
was no teacher. A teacher finally arrived
about August 1929. It was here mum was
educated.
As time went on, paddocks were
fenced off and that meant trees had to be
cut down, using a crosscut saw, which
required two people to work it. Irene
helped her father cut down the first tree to
be cut into the lengths required. At that
time she was only 14 years old and her
sister 13.
Can you imagine 2 young girls using a
crosscut saw and wedges, felling trees?
The main advice was how to select the
right type of tree and not get the saw
jammed. Thats what the wedges were for.
Apart from the regular tasks, there was
also land to be cleared and ploughed.
When plooughed, it had to be sown, by
hand. Mum had the job of leading the
horses, harnessed to the harrows, following
her father to get the seeds covered
before the birds ate them.
These were just some of the tasks that
the children had to do on the farm. Crops
that were grown included corn, pumpkins
and sweet potatoes, which were boiled up
and fed to the pigs. Cows were milked and
the milk separated. The separated milk
was fed to the calves and the remainder
then fed to the pigs to fatten them up.
At about the age of 18, she met, and
later married Eddie. Eddie was raised on a
farm at O'Bil Bil, about 10km from Cattle
Creek. They probably met at the local
Church community at Malmoe, but that
fact has never been confirmed. They were
married in the Malmoe church on 15th
February 1940 and moved to the
Mollenhauer farm.
Beverley was born in July 1940, and
Malcolm in March 1945. Irene was a young
mother raising 2 children and helping
Eddie on the farm whenever possible. Life
was extremely hard and in those days,
there was very little money. She took in
sewing and cake icing to supplement their
income.
Mum and dad worked the farm for
about 30 years. They attended Malmoe
Church where Mum sang in the choir and
they both were deeply committed to
church life.
During that time, Beverley went off to
work, married in 1962 and later started to
raise her own family. Malcolm also went to
work and was later conscripted into the
Army in 1965.
Dads health slowly deteriorated .
They sold the farm in 1970 and semi-
retired into the Town. Malcolm married in
1969 and his first child Amanda was born in
May 1971. Dad had his first heart attack in
June 1971. The years of hard toil on the
land had taken its toll.
Living in town meant that mum had more
time to herself. Her garden began to
flourish and she developed a liking for
indoor bowls. This later led her to outdoor
bowls and she joined the local club. She
later became the club's Treasurer and
eventually President of the ladies club.
Mum and dad enjoyed life in town, taking
up pottery and a variety of craft work.
They loved visits from the family when time
permitted. She loved her grandchildren
and later great grandchildren.
After Eddie died she stayed in
Mundubbera for a few years, and then
moved to Rockhampton to be with her
daughter Bev. Here she took up 10 pin
bowling and enjoyed that while her health
permitted.
She led a full and happy life with Bev and
her family. But eventually her health started
to deteriorate and she was not as active in
later years.
After many bouts in hospital, the
heartbreaking decision was made to put
her into a Nursing Home. She continued to
deteriorate with Alzheimers eventually
setting in.
She leaves behind a daughter, son, 5
grand-daughters and 9 Great-
grandchildren.

MARYBOROUGH
We begin the Maryborough report for the
final quarter of 2013 with a double birthday
celebration! Elder Doug and Sis. Elva
Kirchner and visiting officers and members
from various communities were in
Maryborough on 17th November to join with
the community in giving thanks for Priest
Waynes birthday. The choir and children
supported the service by singing their praises
to God for the blessings received during the
year through the Priest Office. Following
service lunch was enjoyed by all. After
singing in the hall, the children gave Priest
Wayne a gift of pink thongs and black socks
(probably not meant to be worn together but
who knows what Priest Waynes fashion
sense is like?) Sis. Pauline McCrae also
celebrated her 80th Birthday on the same
day. We all enjoyed catching up with her
family who were able to be there. Sis. Pauline
received a gift from the community of a
miniature Mandarin tree. Hopefully it will bear
lots of sweet fruit in years to come.
On Saturday 30th November a contingent
of members travelled to Mundubbera for the
United Apostolic Volunteers Foundation
Fundraiser Concert and barbecue. It was a
really enjoyable weekend thanks to the
Western district for their hospitality. The
officers and their wives performed a skit
based on going to the movies which brought
them all much closer!
Priest Peter Niethe, Deacon Lyall Mischke
and the local youth joined with deacons and
youth from Caloundra, Bundaberg and Binjour
at Deacon Brian Kaddatz place for a day of
kayaking down the Mary River on Saturday
14th December. They set off just after 9:30am
and arrived at the designated lunch stop
around 12:30pm. Some of the youth had a
cooling off swim while the older ones just tried
to recuperate for the next leg. The next
section of the paddle was a little more
interesting as many places along the way
they had to get out and walk over shallow
water and rocks. At one point the kayaks got
stuck on a submerged fallen tree. With many
a sore and sunburnt body, they eventually
arrived at the final destination just on 4:00pm.
A rough estimation of how far they paddled
was 16 kilometres.
Another Sunday School year concluded on
15th December with Priest Peter presenting
books to the Sunday School children. A Bible
was presented to Nicholas Schneider as he
will be concluding confirmation class in 2014.
Our annual Carols by Candlelight then took
place in the evening with a hearty meal of cold

meats and salad. Visitors
for the evening were
family and friends of our
members as well as
others from the wider
community. We again
welcomed an annual
delegation from the New
Apostolic Church in Pallas
street which included their
two new priests. Extra
entertainment by Nicholas
and Rayne made the night
even better!
Our Christmas Eve
Service commenced, as
usual, with the reading of
Luke Chapter 2 by Deacon
Lyall. The children took turns to recreate the
Christmas Story through felt pictures, helped
by Aunty Vickie. There was singing of carols
and recitation by the children which was
enjoyed by everyone who attended. As
usual, the service concluded with the children
receiving their gifts.
Since then we have been experiencing the
joy and peace of the Christmas period through
to New Years Day and beyond.
Greetings to all from Maryborough.
GLADSTONE
During service on 3rd November Brother
and Sister Kevan and Heidi McCormick
brought their second son, Kameran Robert,
forward to be baptised. This was a wonderful
blessing for the family and the community with
many visitors being present.
Congratulations to Amy Bramer on reaching
the milestone of her 21st birthday. What a
way to celebrate your 21st birthday, floating
around on the high seas with family. On her
return to the community, Deacon Tom Kernke
presented Amy with her 21st birthday key.
Once again a blessed Christmas period
was experienced by all in our community. Due
to lack of numbers we skipped our usual
carols evening but with most of the
community being present, along with visitors,
for the Christmas period it more than made up
for it. We also had the benefit of a visit on
Boxing Day by Evangelist Neville Parchert
and family.
We take this opportunity to welcome Sister
Katie Atherton to the Gladstone Community.
Katie will be teaching at the Mt Larcom State
School and we wish her all the best in her new
venture.
Thanks to all officers and members who
have visited our community over the past
quarter.

CHILDERS
It has been quiet, hot and dry here at
Childers .
Sunday 8th December, Priest Des
Walz and other visitors made their way
to join with the Childers Community for
a day of fellowship. After Divine
Service all joined with Evangelist Mark
Keune in a prayer of thanksgiving and
petition for another year of blessings
through the Evangelist Office.
Following service the usual Apostolic
lunch was prepared.
Christmas Eve Service received a
boost with visiting families being
present for this occasion. Three
additional children were present to
assist with singing the Christmas
hymns. The children also participated in
telling the Christmas Story as recorded
in St Luke. As various events recorded
in St Luke were read, the children were
invited to place the appropriate felt
characters on the scene boards. The
end result was enjoyed by the children
and all adults present.
A very blest Christmas was had by
all here.

BUNDABERG
We happily report the celebration of a
wedding. Michael Brown and Amanda
Keune came to the church to be married
on Thursday evening of October 17th.
Amanda is a descendant of the Keune
family from Mundubbera/Malmoe.
The District Altar Servants Seminar
was again held in 2013 on the last
weekend in October at Chaverim, near
Bundaberg. On Sunday 27th October,
the community welcomed Apostle Cliff
and visiting altar servants for Divine
Service. As usual the altar servants
sang as a choir twice during the service.
All visitors and the local members then
enjoyed lunch in the hall. It was a joy to have
Priest Peet Vorster and Evangelist Theo van
der Nest from New Zealand with us for the
service.
On Sunday November 10th we farewelled
Craig and Nicole Attenborough, and Grace
and Ben from the Bundaberg community. The
family have moved to Ormeau, south of
Brisbane. We appreciate their presence, and
contribution over the years spent in
Bundaberg and wish them God's blessings.
With sadness we report the passing of
James Albert Pratt on November 10th, aged
25 years. James passed away after a period
of sudden, serious illness. His wife, Connie, is
a member of the Bundaberg community, and
the daughter of Bevan and Kathy Rohdmann.
James was held in high regard by all who knew
him. This was shown by the very large
attendance at his funeral service on Saturday
November 16th.
At our Bible evening on Friday 15th
November, we used a video presentation of
the Gospel of St Mark (known as the Gospel
in a hurry). This was prepared by Evangelist
Theo (of New Zealand) and was an interesting
alternative to reading from the Bible.
After Divine Service on Sunday 24th
November, thanks and prayers were brought

Ministry, and having bearers for that office,
was acknowledged along with prayer of
thanks and for God's blessings in the year
ahead. A community lunch in the hall, string
band music, songs from the children, and
some speeches added to the blessings of an
enjoyable community day.
Approximately forty members from
Bundaberg travelled to Mundubbera on 30th
November for the annual United Apostolic
Volunteers Foundation Fundraising Concert
and barbecue. On Sunday 1st December, it
was on to Binjour for Advent Service and
birthday thanks for Apostle Cliff Flor. We
thank the Western district for their hospitality
and a job well done.
Our Christmas Carol Evening was held on
Sunday 22nd December. After a sumptuous
dinner, all joined in the carol singing and
enjoyed the evening. The Sunday School
arranged the programme and decorations,
with the children being on stage. Christmas
Day lunch was provided for members who
wished to stay. A fine lunch and good
fellowship was enjoyed by all.
An added blessing to the service on
Sunday December 29th was the baptism of
Aurora Rayne Kiely. The babe was brought
forward by her parents Nikarra and Abe. Many
family members travelled to Bundaberg from
other places, including Mackay, Hervey Bay
and Childers. Aurora is the great great
granddaughter of Barry and Daphene
McCarthy of Mackay. Five generations of the
family were present; Aurora Raine Kiely,
Nikarra Kiely, Megan Kiely, Jackie Glasby,
and Daph McCarthy .
On Sunday January 5th, the engagement
was announced of Darel Herschell and Lauren
Zielke. We wish the couple God's blessings in
the future.
As mentioned in our last Herald report,
repair work on the flood damaged home of a
local family was continuing. The work has
been completed and the keys given back to

James Albert Pratt
3rd July 1988
10th November 2013
On the 18th of January
1986, John and Annette Pratt
were married in a small
church in Brisbane. They
immediately started trying
for a baby and were blessed
with their miracle in the
form of a little boy.
James Albert Pratt was
born on the third of July
1988 weighing seven pound
thirteen ounces with blonde
hair and dark brown eyes.
James was a half brother to
Anita and Bradley and an
only child for Annette.
As a child, James
thoroughly enjoyed
building things, especially
with Lego. James and Annette would
frequently enjoy jigsaw puzzles on the
lounge room floor where he would
always leave the last piece to be put in
by his Mum.
Given John and Annette's
commitments to their company
Rabmint, James experienced travelling
from a very early age, either attending
different schools or travelling to visit
his Dad on the school holidays he
certainly had many adventures. James
attended kindergarten in Blackwater,
Queensland. Preschool to grade four at
St. Patricks Catholic School in
Bundaberg. James started the school
year of grade five at St Joseph's Catholic
School in Atherton, where he met his
favourite teacher, and then completed
grade five in Kununurra in Western
Australia. James started grade six at
Ryan Catholic School in Townsville and
returned to Bundaberg for grade seven
at Bundaberg Christian College. After
much pleading with his parents about
the high school he would attend, James
was enrolled at North Bundaberg State
High School where he completed the
remainder of his school years.
During high school, James developed a
passion for basketball. He played every
chance he could whether
with the school team or
with the teams he was
involved in through
Bundaberg Basketball.
James was a part of the
Under 14's, 16's and 18's
playing in many carnivals
over the years. In his senior
year of high school he was
selected for the Wide Bay
Team and because of his
love of the sport attended a
training course to become a
qualified referee.
During his high school
years, James worked at
Hungry Jacks. After a year
of flipping burgers and
cooking fries James decided
that he wanted a full time
career at the establishment
and eventually become CEO.
At age fifteen, James dragged his
mother into Hinkler Place Shopping
Centre for coffee after school. In actual
fact it was to show her a girl who
worked at Dale's Donuts who he admitted
he was keen on. Her name was Connie
Rohdmann and little did he know that
the feeling was mutual.
At the beginning of year eleven it was
no longer a secret that there was
something special between these two.
Ever the romantic and James always
being one with words asked Connie to be
his girl.
In their senior year of high school,
James and Connie were told by a teacher
that their love for each other was just a
high school fling and would never last.
He was to be proved wrong because
these two were soul mates and were
meant to be.
James graduated high school in 2005
and attended his prom with Connie.
James wore a top hat and carried a cane
and Connie wore yellow. To celebrate
the end of school forever James and
Connie joined a large group of their
friends to let off steam in Mooloolaba for
schoolies.
After returning to Bundaberg in the

new year it was time for the couple to face the real world. Connie was staying in
Bundaberg and James had decided to forego his dreams of becoming CEO at Hungry
Jacks and follow in his fathers footsteps to become a boilermaker with an
apprenticeship in the family company - Rabmint. James quickly proved himself to
be just like his father a really dedicated and hard worker. Working many hours in
a week for weeks on end, James never complained because he loved and had a
passion for his job. Whilst working in the construction industry James found his
love of cranes, not only driving them but collecting and building models.
In 2007, James and Connie decided it was time to spread their wings and find their
love for international travel joining Connie's family on a trip to America. Bringing
out the inner child in both of them James and Connie loved Disneyland and dreamed
that when they had children one day they would be bringing them back. They also
thoroughly enjoyed Hawaii and decided that any holiday they would have in the
future would always end in Hawaii.
After having lived apart for two years, James and Connie decided that they had,
had enough time living apart and not long after that Connie joined the family
business to travel around with James. They lived in many parts of Australia
together such as Mareeba and Atherton on the Tableland and Tumbarumba in New
South Wales but their first love and home was Bundaberg. In 2008 it was time for
James and Connie to take the next step in their relationship by looking for the
perfect home for them to live in, in Bundaberg. They also needed to find the perfect
puppy to start their family. James and Connie purchased a property in Stehbens
Drive in Kepnock and found a Corgi puppy and named her Huney.
In October 2010, James was working at the Millaquin Sugar Mill in Bundaberg
and decided it was time to pop the question. After having decided this, James told
John that he had to leave a little early that day. James flew out to a jewellery shop
that in the previous weeks the couple had been admiring a special ring in the
window. Due to it being late afternoon on a Saturday, the jewellery shop was
closing its doors. James not accepting defeat popped his head under the half closed
door and asked Could I buy something please? and the sales assistant replied, with
a disgruntled look on her face, with What is it that you want? and very dryly
James replied with Well actually, that diamond ring in the window!. After
hearing this, the sales assistant was only too happy to reopen the shop for him so
that he could make his special purchase. Later that afternoon James took Connie up
to the Hummock lookout where she knew exactly what was going to happen and
because of his nerves muddled his way through the proposal.
On the 12th of May 2012, James and Connie celebrated their beautiful wedding at
the Apostolic Church of Queensland. Followed by a wonderful reception at the RSL
surrounded by family and friends who could see that if two people were ever meant
to be together, it was these two. Following their perfect day they set off on their
around the world Honeymoon travelling through Europe and the USA and as
planned completed their honeymoon in Hawaii.
After returning home, it was back to reality for the newly weds with work
taking them to Atherton on the Tableland. While living in Atherton, James
continued playing basketball and his team won the grand finals and James was
awarded Most Valuable Player which was only three weeks ago. They lived in the
small north Queensland town for 15 months and were dreaming of the day they
would get to return to their home in Bundaberg.
After finishing their employment with Rabmint and looking forward to their
new careers, James was given a job opportunity with Walter Wright Australia on
the island of Nauru. This job was perfect for James as he would get to expand his
experience and knowledge with operating large cranes. James was scheduled to fly
out on the 14th of November 2013 to start work. James and Connie with their cars

BUNDABERG YOUTH
A group of Youth headed to the movies to
see Thor: The Dark Worldand enjoyed it
heaps! Very entertaining. Cant wait for some
of the other movies to come out. We didnt do
the usual icecream at Maccas after movies
this time as we all had plenty of nibblies whilst
watching the movies.
In December we accompanied the Sunday
School children to bring Christmas joy to the
residents of the Pioneer Complex and, as
anticipated, it was a lovely afternoon. The
residents really appreciate and enjoy our
visits.
Hannah Skopp reached the birthday
milestone of 21 years and was presented her
key. May God bless you in your adult years,
Hannah!
Thats it from us for this quarter. Happy
2014 to all!

packed began the journey of driving home on Sunday the 3rd of November 2013. Due
to James not feeling well they stopped in Townsville where Connie took James to
the hospital. As the horror week progressed, hope was never lost from Connie and
the family. However James, regardless of his strength and how hard he fought, the
battle could not be won.
James passed away from this life on Sunday the 10th of November 2013 at 9.56am.
Even though James was gone from us, he gave the ultimate gift of life to five
families. James's wonderful and caring heart went to a man. His kidneys went to a
man and a woman who would have been on dialysis at least four times a week. The
main section of James's liver went to a man and the tail section went to a gravely ill
little boy who was marked as urgent. Even though we didn't receive our miracle
these five families did because of James. There is some comfort for Connie and the
family knowing that this is what James would have wanted being the kind, selfless
and giving person that he was.
There will forever be a hole in anyone's life who knew James, a hole that will
never be able to be filled and he will be missed every day.
It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.

BUNDABERG SUNDAY SCHOOL
After a quiet few months the Sunday
School children finished the year off with quite
a few activities. Sunday afternoon, 10th
November, we all gathered at the hall to make
Christmas decorations which were to be
placed on the church Christmas tree. The
creative side of the children certainly shone
through with many beautiful decorations
made. The Christmas tree definitely looked
outstanding with all the children's creations
adorning it. We finished the evening with a
pizza tea that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The afternoon of 8th December was our
annual journey to one of the local aged care
facilities to perform a small Christmas concert
for the residents. This year we visited Pioneer
South Nursing Home where the children sang
some Christmas Carols and read some
Christmas poems. All could see what an uplift
it brings to the residents to see the young

usual chocolate gifts were handed out to the
residents who always appreciate a little treat.
Sunday, 15th December, was book
presentation and Sunday School break-up
day. The children came forward to receive
their book from the Sunday School teachers
and deacons. We wish those children moving
into Confirmation class all the best for the
coming year. The 22nd December was the
community's annual Christmas Carol evening

BUNDABERG OVER 50'S GROUP
The group went down to Bargara by the sea
and enjoyed a lunch at the Bargara Bowls
Club in October.
The November outing was a boat ride on the
Bundy Belle on the Burnett River down to
Burnett Heads and back. The boat departed
from a jetty at Grunskies in East Bundaberg
and a takeaway fish and chips lunch from the
cafe was eaten on board. Some took
advantage of the sunshine and views from the
top deck. It was a lovely time spent on our
river.
On December 11th, a Christmas breakup
was held at the home of Allan and Marilyn
Zeimer. Seventeen people attended and had
an enjoyable morning. A Christmas cake was
cut by Sylvia Lerch and Del Smith.

organising the event. The children were on
stage and performed a small nativity play
about the birth of Christ with carols sung by
all at various stages throughout the play
relating to each scene. All thoroughly enjoyed
the performance, with many thanks to
parents for their efforts with the costumes.
Looking forward to the new year with many
more fun activities planned for Sunday
School.

On Saturday, 7th December, Priest Barry
and Sis. Angela Weder travelled from
Townsville to Mareeba for Divine Service to be
held in Mareeba on Sunday, 8th December.
Following is their report: It had been 12
months since our last trip and just after an
hours drive north one could witness the
difference in the landscape. After living with
the dryness of Townsville for so long, the
green countryside was a vision to behold. We
thought that if the cattle from the inland
properties could see grass like this they
would think they were in Paradise. It came to
mind that as man watered his own little plot,
the good Lord in His love waters the lot. It
was a longer than normal journey due to
roadworks and delays over the range all the
way to Atherton and we didnt arrive in
Mareeba until late in the afternoon.
After breakfast on Sunday
morning with service not due to
start until 1pm due to the
availability of the hall, we took the
opportunity to visit some members
and renew acquaintances. All were
looking forward to Divine Service.
Bro. Mitchel Vassey, who lives
with his mother, Sister Sandy, was
confined to bed with an illness and
we hope and pray the good Lord
will keep him in His care.
The hall became available at
12.30pm and all haste was made
to set up for service. Members arrived and
service commenced at 1.15pm. The sincerity
of those present could be felt and the children
were very attentive as well. After service a
light lunch and cold drinks were provided and
enjoyed by all in fellowship.
Departing is always a sad time as we realise
it may be another twelve months before we all
meet again, but one is always thankful for the
opportunity of being able to serve and assist
in some way towards the spiritual well being of
our brothers, sisters and children in the far
north.
We made the return trip to Townsville via
Cairns (Kuranda Range for the first time) with
some rain and wet roads almost all the way to
Ingham, arriving home at 8pm to dry roads,
tired and weary.

TOWNSVILLE
The community welcomed Elder Lyle Daniel,
along with a number of officers and members
from the Mackay community, on the 10th
November to celebrate another year of the
Priest Office in the Townsville Community.
Elder Lyle brought a prayer of thanksgiving
for the blessings provided to the community
through the fulfilment of the Priest Office. It
was truly a joyous occasion for all that
attended.
It is with great pleasure that we welcome
Evangelist Owen, Sister Vanessa and Riley
Bramer. With Townsville being a relatively
small community, it is a blessing to see it
grow and have an evangelist working within
the region.
On Sunday 22nd December the children
gathered in the afternoon to decorate the
Christmas tree in preparation for Christmas
Eve. All children thoroughly enjoyed making
the tree look beautiful with as many

Joyous and blessed Christmas and
New Years Festivals were celebrated by
all. Christmas Eve saw a large number of
children participate in the service and
receive a gift from the members of the
community. Christmas Day Service
followed, with all eager to spend a blessed
and festive day with family and friends.
Sunday, 8th December, was the last
service in Rockhampton for Evangelist Owen
Bramer, his wife Vanessa and their daughter
Riley, as Bro. Owens work commitments
have taken him to Townsville. Priest Russell
and Sis. Gaye Flor travelled to Rockhampton
to bring thanks for the labour done in the
community and for these blessings to
continue in the future. After service a lovely
lunch was provided by the members, including
a special cake made for the occasion. Cards
were signed in thankfulness for the last eight
years of labour in the community.
It is with sadness we remember the passing
of Lynelda Wilson (nee Galletly), aged 61
years, on the 6th December. Her funeral
service was held at the Rockhampton
Crematorium on Wednesday 11th December.
Sister Irene (Rene) Mollenhauer passed
away on 26th December. She was a member
of Rockhampton Community for the past 14
years. Her funeral took place at Malmoe on
3rd January.

MACKAY
The period of time before and after
Christmas was extremely busy for the
community, Youth and Sunday School.
There were three babies born since the last
Herald. Levi Jaxon Goodworth was born on
15th October. He is the fourth son for Peter
and Natasha and a brother for Jacob, Cohen
and Caleb. Richard Kaddatz and Nanette Bell
welcomed their first child, William Lloyd, on
21st December. In Cairns, Zac Ross and
Nerida Nilsson welcomed their first child,
Zavier, on 1st November.
Levi Jaxon Goodworth was baptised on
30th November, Will Edward Beckmann on
21st December, and William Lloyd Bell-
Kaddatz on 4th January. Slade Christopher
Skopp was baptised and sealed on 3rd
November and Tegan Skopp was sealed on
that day.
On 17th November Emily Parchert
celebrated her 21st birthday. Approximately
200 guests assembled at the church hall,
including special guests, grandparents Jim
and Dell Sauer from Bundaberg. The theme of
the party was The Mad Hatters Tea Party.
Decorations included bird cages hanging from
the ceiling and other items on the tables. The
cake was spectacular, with three different
types of mud cakes in the form of a cat, top
hat and kettle. Speakers included her
parents, Nev and Karen, brothers Carl and
Joel and friends Bridget and Kayla. Deacon
Robert Doyle presented the traditional key.
After dinner, youthful guests played games

night was enjoyed by all.
The 18th October was the annual Kenya
Fundraiser. Money raised from this function is
given to provide a special Christmas for the
orphans. The afternoon commenced with
pony rides for the children. The older children
rode on a horse provided by Des Brown and
the younger ones on miniature ponies
provided by Lyle and Helen Schaper. The ride-
on mower was put into use with trailer rides
around the church grounds. The jumping
castle and face painting were also available.
The main meal for the night was a Pig on a
Spit provided by Mike Galletly. It commenced
cooking at 7am Sunday morning and by tea-
time was so tender, everyone enjoyed it
immensely. Stalls were set up around the hall
selling items such as craft, cooking, books,
clothes etc. All did a good trade. In total
$2661.85 was raised.
Elder Lyle celebrated his birthday on 15th
December. After Divine Service, Bishop Alan
Crouch commenced a thanksgiving service
for another year of blessings through the
Elder Office. The text was Psalm 68. The
Mixed Choir, Sunday School Children and
Youth Chorus all sang hymns of praise.
Bishop Alan then held a prayer of thanks for
the many blessings received in the past year
and a petition for strength, protection and
good health for the coming year. All then
assembled in the hall for lunch with the band
playing for all to enjoy. The Sunday School
children also sang and were rewarded with a
chocolate. It was very unfortunate that Sister
Dale was unable to attend the lunch owing to
ill health. Her birthday was included with Elder
Lyles.
On 19th December Sister Audrey Reck
celebrated her 80th birthday. Daughter
Melissa travelled from Bundaberg with her
children. A small family gathering was held at
Murray and Diane Recks property at Dows
Creek, doing what Audrey loves, looking at
the cattle, farm animals and seeing how the
cane was progressing. A light lunch followed,
with much chatter with her family and

Brother Brian and Sister Beverley Gay
celebrated their Golden Wedding on
22nd December. Elder Lyle conducted
the service with the text being Psalm
102:1-2. The Male Choir sang The
Riches of Love. On Saturday night the
21st, a reception was held for
approximately 50 guests. Daughter
Denise and her family, and son Martin
from Brisbane were in attendance. Colin,
Malvern and Lyn Daniel travelled up from
the south and Rodney Kaddatz came
from Biggenden. Evangelist Brice
Kaddatz was Chairman for the night with
many speakers reflecting on their past
life with Brian and Bev. The couple then
cut the cake which Brian helped ice.
The annual Carol Singing night was
held on 22nd December. A large crowd
was in attendance enjoying a barbecue
followed by sweets which included plum
pudding. The first item for the night was
the children performing a play called
The Littlest Christmas Tree. They were
all in costume, and played their parts
and sang very well. Shannon Pace
compered the evening, assisted by
Lauren Roberts and Jasmin Pace on the
keyboard. Everyone was in good voice
and many carols were sung including the

Christmas message which Nelson Mandela
wrote in 1998. It was very much relevant in
this day and age. The second break was Mr.
Bean attending a church service which
brought much laughter. The night ended with
the traditional cold watermelon.
The Christmas Eve Service was well
attended and the tree looked a picture with all
the decorations the children had made. The
childrens band commenced the service with
two Christmas songs, Silent Night and The
Little Drummer Boy. The Christmas Story was
told with the help of felt boards. When the
church lights were turned out, Priest Russell
explained the meaning of the Christmas Tree
lights. It was then time for the presents to be
given out, the childrens faces a joy to see.
On 4th January, the wedding of Raymond
Zammit and Lauren Roberts was celebrated.
Elder Lyle Daniel (the brides uncle) officiated
at the ceremony. The text for the service was
Ephesians 5:25 on. The Mixed Choir sang Be
Merciful Unto Me, the same hymn the Mixed
Choir sang at the brides parents, Neil and
Ceciles wedding and also their Golden
Wedding. Laurens veil was worn by her
mother at her wedding in 1961. Attendants
included her sister, Tanya, and her nieces
Danielle and Annalise Roberts. Raymond had
his brother, Emanuel, as his Best Man. A
special guest at the wedding was Angele
Muscat from Malta. A surprise for guests at
the reception was a full sized Cinderella
Carriage with Lead Lighting. A Glass Slipper
was on the table where guests signed the
wedding book. Coincidentally, the wedding
dress design was called Cinderella.
Priest Eric Galletly celebrated his birthday
on 5th January. After Divine Service a
thanksgiving service for the Priest Office was
held. The text was Acts 6:6. The Mixed Choir
sang The Lillies and the Sunday School
children sang Carry Your Bible. Elder Lyle
then had a prayer and petition that God would
grant him good health, strength and
protection in the coming year. The Youth
Chorus ended the service with the hymn

Gladstone. She has taken up a teaching
position at Mt Larcom State School.
Before Christmas, members put together
another 100 Personal Care Packages on
behalf of the United Apostolic Volunteers
Foundation to be sent to drought stricken
areas; mainly Longreach, Quilpie and
Cloncurry.
APOSTOLIC SPORTS CLUB
After several years of inactivity, our Sports
Club is in the process of joining local
competition once again, with a wide variety of
sports on offer. They are Table Tennis,
Tennis, Touch Football, Ten Pin Bowling,
Beach Volleyball, Lawn Bowls and Indoor
Cricket. In the past, the club has competed in
Cricket, Table Tennis, Softball, Basketball
and Indoor Cricket, so members may have the
opportunity to catch up with old friends and,
no doubt, establish new friendships. Those
who are not active enough to participate are
welcome as spectators and their
encouragement appreciated.

MACKAY YOUTH
It was quite busy leading up to Seniors
Concert with practices and prop making, as
well as invitations to be sent out.
On Saturday, 16th November, the Youth
once again hosted the Senior Citizens
Concert. Approximately 150 people
attended the afternoon. There were the
usual songs and skits but this year the
middle section of the concert had an
appearance of midget dancing. All the youth
performed well and the seniors had a good
laugh and sing along. After the concert the
lucky door prizes were handed out and Elder
Lyle prayed Grace.
The senior citizens then made their way to
the tables for afternoon tea. There were
sandwiches and some lovely cakes, tarts and
other goodies.
After all were satisfied they said their
goodbyes and the youth helped them to their
transport. A good afternoon was had by all.
The senior citizens are all looking to come
back again next year.

On Saturday, 8th December, the youth and
some of their friends gathered at Deacon
Mitchell and Aunty Kristy Flors house for a
wet and wild afternoon. There was a large slip
and slide down the hill (approx. 50 metres).
Much skin was lost and a few rocks where
found, but no major injuries. Some touch
football was played and all had a great
afternoon, followed by a BBQ. After this we all
journeyed home with and without bruises.

MACKAY SUNDAY SCHOOL
It has been a very busy time of year for the
children. During Sunday School the children
were provided with a white board discussion
regarding the Word of God. It was explained
to the children that the Word of God is like a
seed that needs to be planted on fertile
ground and requires watering so that it can
grow and be blessed. As an example, seeds
were planted and watered and the children
saw how they grew in a short period of time.
For the Christmas period a play was chosen
for the children to perform on the night of our
annual Christmas Carols, so a few practices
and dress rehearsal were organised for them.
These were held in conjunction with the
Christmas decoration making and singing at
Tranquil Rest. This year the children made
some very beautiful decorations to hang on
the Christmas tree in the church. Colourful
bon-bons, lovely snow domes with church and
baby Jesus figurines inside them, colourful
paper stars and other hanging decorations
made with beads and material. Everyone did
a wonderful job of making them and lots of fun
was had as well! Every year the children
venture across the road to sing Christmas
Carols for the residents of Tranquil Rest. This

year it was decided to bring the residents over
to the church where the children sang some
beautiful carols, which the residents clearly
enjoyed! Lollies were handed out to the
children and the residents were invited to stay
and join in the BBQ dinner afterwards.
On the night of the annual Christmas Carols
the children performed their play The Littlest
Christmas Tree. It was the story of three fir
trees; one small, one medium and one large,
growing in the forest. Two families came into
the forest and chose the medium and large
trees, leaving the littlest tree all alone.
Children dressed as bunny rabbits and red
birds came along and decorated the littlest
tree. It was a lovely story and the children
performed it to perfection on the night! The
play included lots of songs for the children to
sing, which were to the tunes of different
nursery rhymes.
The Sunday School and Kindy children had
their annual break-up after service where they
sang a number of hymns, received a book as
a gift, and a cold glass of soft drink, which
went down a treat. A few words were spoken
to the children by Priests Russell & Eric, Elder
Lyle and the Apostle.
A big thanks goes out to all who helped
during the Sunday School year and we hope
to see all again in the New Year!
