Mycenaeans

By Brayden Whalley
The Mycenaeans originated in Central Asia, when population grew
they took out Balkan Peninsula, and eventually ended the Minoans
culture, to start the beginning of Mycenaean, in the late Bronze Age
around 3000-1000 BC (Heroic Age). Government was strong and
effective.
The Mycenaean were the warrior type quoting, that they were the
best warriors. The Mycenaean would carry stone weapons to use in
battle, with many different allies. The Mycenaean would build there
city on top of a mountain for better defence. Most of the art that
the Mycenaeans would create would be pictures of them fighting
against enemies and/or wild animals.
Source1: Defence

As shown in the picture the Mycenaeans would build their houses on hills
for better defence since, the enemy would take enough time for the
Mycenaean to prepare for the attack. In this city they would practice
fighting against wild animals, and each other. They would build the city
out of limestone blocks, so big they thought Cyclops built it. Mycenaeans
would build strongholds called citadels to protect the palaces, which was
at heights where they could see people approaching.
Source2: Battles

The Mycenaean fought in many battles, for example Troy, when they
tricked the city with a huge wooden horse. The Mycenaean would use
pottery and paintings to revisit their victorious battles that they
would normally always win (as shown in the picture). The Mycenaeans
would fight with other allies and rarely fight alone. Another
Mycenaean battle was against Minoans, which is where they finally
settled until they were conquered. The Mycenaean would also fight
wild animals.

Source3: Weapons

The Mycenaeans would use stone weapons and bronze, as shown in
the picture above. Stone is very fragile, meaning it wasnt practical
to be used as swords. The Great Sword differs from the rest of the
other Greek swords because of, combination of length of the blade
and, the extra handle so you could hold it with both hands. The
Mycenaeans would also be buried with swords that had golden
handles (not used in actual battle).

Military secured many of the citizens, because of the many battles
that they won. The Mycenaean, didnt just affect the life of
themselves with their great military, they also affected the lives of
Troy citizens, and Greece citizens, when helping their country
(Greece) fight in the famous Troy battle. The Mycenaeans also had
the most ancient form of Greek language, meaning they would be
able to communicate and negotiate, with their goods, leading to
better weaponry. The Mycenaeans military werent controlled fully
by the king; they would have a Lawgeta who was the leader.

There are many different scenarios of the collapse of the
Mycenaean. One of the scenarios is that around 1100 BCE
Peloponnesus was attacked by a tribe called Dorians who also
destroyed Mycenaean, and the written language of Mycenaean was
completely forgotten, throwing Greece in the Dark Age for several
centuries. The second theory is that there was a social conflict
between the poor and the rich. The lower classes rejected the
system they were being governed by, destroying the society.

The Mycenaean played an important part in the Greek Society. The
Mycenaeans helped Greek advance, by fighting with them but,
because of one theory (2), landed Greek in the Dark Age. The
Mycenaean also was important with being the oldest language in
Ancient Greece. Mycenaean was important in the Ancient Greece;
unfortunately it has too much mystery behind, leaving us to only
guess the missing parts.
