FOREWORD

This Student Handbook aims to furnish the pupils of Kinabuksan Elementary School the policies,
rules and regulations to adhere and observe during his/her stay in this institution. It will provide him/her
guidance and information he/she needs to know since this will serve as his/her second home on his/her
entire elementary education.

This school envisions the holistic development of the learners in terms of their quest for
knowledge and skills they need to imbibe in order to become a functionally literate individual. It also
aims to inculcate a set of values that every child should develop towards building an ideal environment
of physical, intellectual, moral, social and spiritual growth.

This manual will serve as a guiding principle in achieving a successful operation and
implementation of educational policies and programs.

We enjoin the pupils and their parents to familiarize themselves with the content of this manual
because enrolment in this school is understood to mean that the parents and the students are aware of
its provisions and are unconditionally accepting and willing to abide by these school policies, rules and
regulations.

HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Kinabuksan Elementary School is a public school institution founded to serve the needs of the
community and its surroundings. The urgent need to build a school was seen by Mrs. Lydia Solomon, a
civic-minded individual and the President of the Subic Teachers Association. Being a land owner of the
area, she pursued for the establishment of the school. In 1987, with a certification from the Subic Bay
Metropolitan Association, a site was provided for the school. The school opened with three combination
classes with Mr. Liborio Gumarad as the first Principal. After Mr. Gumarad was Mrs. Lydia Solomon, Mrs.
Isabel Tan, Mr. Rizalino Florita, and Mrs. Leticia Menorca. The school was also manned by Officer-In-
Charges in the persons of Dr. Rodelio Asuncion and Mrs. Thelma Fernandez. Mr. Angelito Sinfuego also
had his first experience as school head in the school. After him was Mrs. Elvira Pantorgo who also made
her debut as school head in March 2008. In S.Y. 2008 2009, Mrs. Pantorgo opened the first
Kindergarten class to the delight of everybody. In the same year, the school became a monograde
school with eight teachers.
In June 2009, Mrs. Thelma Fernandez took over as the Teacher-In-Charge until the arrival of
Mrs. Liza Badillo in the same year. In June 2010, Mrs. Badillo was tasked to work for the opening of a
Secondary School to serve the graduates of the elementary. In that school year, the school was granted
permit to operate and was named Kinabuksan Integrated School. As a start, only first year high school
was offered. In June 2011, Mrs. Adelina Mendoza was assigned to continue the secondary program for
three months. After her was Mr. Noriel Fadera who stayed up in the school up to March 2012. Due to a
DepEd policy preventing Master Teachers to be assigned as School Heads, the school became a satellite
of two principals, Mrs. Lilia Rosete of Ilwas Elementary School for the elementary and Mr. Reymundo
Lim of Cawag Resettlement High School for the secondary program. The elementary returned to its
original name Kinabuksan Elementary School and the secondary now Cawag Resettlement High School
Annex IV (Kinabuksan High School).
At present, Kinabuksan Elementary School is still a monograde school with eight teachers and
one principal.

serve its stakeholders.

To protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality, equitable, culture-based and complete
basic education where:
Pupils learn in a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe and motivating environment
Teachers facilitate learning and constantly nurture every learner
Administrators and staff, as stewards of the institution, ensure an enabling and supportive
environment for effective learning to happen
Family, community and other stakeholders are actively engaged and share responsibility for
developing lifelong learners

GUIDING PRINCIPLE

The child is the center of the educative process. All activities of the school shall focus on the total
development of the child.

The school is a dynamic community of cooperative committed and result-oriented individuals who foster
positive and scientific attitudes towards self and the society.
