INTRODUCTION
This document provides the technical considerations used to calculate the ampacity
tables and motor starters for the Yanacocha Gold Mill Project.

2.0

OBJECTIVES AND SCOPE

The objectives are the following:
- Define the considerations used to determine the current ampacity
- Provide a table to define the motor starters, transformers and motor circuit
protections (MCP)
- Provide tables to derate the ampacity values according to temperature, altitud and
quantity of conductor in ducts

5.- The shadow area indicates that the cable is oversized.

6.- The dark area indicates that the cable is unsuitable because of excesive current

5.- For monoconductor cables in cable tray, see the Ampacity in NEC Table N 1

4.- Monoconductor cables 4/0 AWG and above, shall be installed triplexed

Motor full load power factor

3.- Motor Full Load Amperes (FLA) and power factor (Cos T) are per the data from NEMA MG 1 - 1993 Table 12-10, for high Efficiency Motors

2.- Maximun circuit lengths are based on the Cable Ampacities for cables in conduit in free air (see table 1). Conductor used is 600 V, 90 C insulation, copper, type XHHW-2.

If necessary, verify motor current. If it is diferent from the value indicate in the table, search the actual current required and repeat the process.
