Dear Applicant,

Mingalaba! Congratulations on applying for the DeBoer Fellowship.

The team at DeBoer Foundation, Inc. shares your excitement about the future of Myanmar. Through
the DeBoer Fellowship, we hope to make important investments in Myanmars most valuable resource -
- its future citizen-leaders.

Since the DeBoer family first came to Yangon in 1988, Myanmar has been its passion and the only
country of focus. After decades of visiting and giving, we are now seizing a new opportunity. We aim
to help Fellows to reach their potential as difference-makers, and as men and women of highest
character.

During the course of a year, DeBoer Fellows will be exposed to world-class instruction and coaching,
and a peer network of top Myanmar leaders from all sectors of society. The whole world is inspired by
Myanmars resilience, talent, and spirit, and it is our privilege to come alongside you on this journey.

Sincerely,
Fritz Kling, President

ABOUT THE DEBOER FELLOWSHIP

Fellows will be stretched and challenged, as the Fellowship brings together individuals of different gender, ethnic,
religious, age and vocational backgrounds.
Fellows will be instructed in a variety of ways, including lectures, small groups, and one-on-one coaching.
Fellows will have homework and reading assignments in between the three Fellow Events.
The DeBoer Fellowship will reimburse all travel and lodging expenses of DeBoer Fellows.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Applicants must be Myanmar nationals with five to ten years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility
in a civil society organisation, social enterprise, or business.
Applicants must be comfortable speaking and listening in English language, because all instruction will occur in
English. English fluency is not required as translation headsets will be available at all Fellow Events.
Applicants are not required to have university degrees, but must demonstrate significant life experiences and
accomplishments. All DeBoer Fellows will demonstrate a passion for learning, a commitment to personal growth, a
history of service to others, and a very strong work ethic.
Applicants must obtain from their organisation a Pledge of Full Support-- allowing the Fellow to be absent from
work for the three five-day Fellow Events within the year, and a pledge to consider how to apply ideas learned by
the Fellow during his/her Fellowship.
Applicants must sign a Pledge of Commitment, promising: 1) to attend all three five day Fellow Events during the
year, without fail except emergencies; 2) to plan and teach a half-day course on what they have learned after each
Fellow Event, for other citizen leaders in their home community; and 3) to complete pre-Fellowship and post-
Fellowship survey, both for themselves and the organisations where they work.
