I am the only major candidate for governor who is -- and always has been -- unequivocally pro-choice. My respect for and trust in women to make their own decisions about their reproductive lives is rooted in my values and in my respect and love for the women in my family my wife, my mother and my daughter -- and it always has been unwavering. As your governor I will oppose and veto all attempts to directly or indirectly restrict access to safe and legal abortion for the citizens of Maine, regardless of whether they are insured privately or are MaineCare clients. Late last year, I testied at a Portland City Council Hearing regarding buffer zones around clinics. I said that if I am elected I will ask the Maine legislature to enact a state law similar to the ordinance under consideration in Portland that will create a buffer zone around abortion clinics and a oating area around patients and staff everywhere in the State of Maine. YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHY IM SUPPORTING ELIOT CUTLER FOR GOVERNOR. HE IS NOT ONLY THE BEST PERSON FOR THE JOB, HE IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE WHO HAS ALWAYS UNEQUIVOCALLY SUPPORTED REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM FOR WOMEN. Sherry Huber, a Co-Founder of Family Planning Association of Maine Michaud has a 28-year record of anti-choice votes. In 1993, Michaud voted against making Roe v. Wade the law in Maine. A 1998 Maine Right to Life Questionnaire said that Michaud favored, ...legislation that would prevent abortion, except to prevent the death of the mother. In 2001, while serving in the Maine Legislature he voted to recognize a fertilized egg as a human being. In a 2002 speech to the Democratic convention, Michaud said he disagreed with the Roe v. Wade court decision, which legalized abortion. Michaud has taken money and in-kind contributions from the Maine Right to Life PAC to fund his congressional campaign. Eliot Cutlers Record:

PRO-CHOICE. PRO-ELIOT. AUTHORIZED BY THE CANDIDATE AND PAID FOR BY CUTLER FOR MAINE In 2003, Michaud was the only Democratic freshman member of Congress to vote to outlaw late-term abortion (with no exception to protect the health of the mother) and was given high praise by Maine Right to Life for his vote. In 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 Michaud voted against women in the military having access to abortion on US bases abroad (even if they used their own money to pay for it). In 2006, Michaud voted for a bill to require a doctor to tell a woman before an abortion at 20 weeks that the fetus would feel pain. In 2009, Michaud's vote in favor of the Stupak-Pitts amendment to ban private insurance plans from covering abortions was called "the greatest restriction of a womans right to choose in the history of the current Congress." The President of NARAL Pro-Choice America, Nancy Keenan, said her organization "will hold those lawmakers who sided with the extreme Stupak-Pitts amendment accountable for abandoning women and capitulating to the most extreme fringe of the anti-choice movement." In 2012, Michaud said, I support the current ban on federal funding of abortion. Suddenly, at about the time he declared his intention to run for governor, Michaud said that he has evolved on the abortion issue. Mike Michauds Record (cont.):
