The Feast of the Assumption will be observed with a ceremonial
blessing of the sea Aug. 15 in Longport. Parishioners process from the Holy
Trinity Church, Epiphany worship site on Ventnor Avenue, to the beach for
the ceremony. Climbing aboard a lifeguard boat, the pastor is rowed past the
breakers by the Longport Beach Patrol so the wreath can be placed in the
sea. The event draws hundreds of faithful onlookers.

group stoked. Surng is permitted on 12th, 22nd, 28th, and 32nd avenues in
Longport. In Margate, try Essex, Jasper and between Pembroke and Quincy
avenues. In Ventnor, surng is allowed at the municipal shing pier at Corn-
wall Avenue. Dont forget you beach badge.

Kayaking has become a popular Downbeach activity with rentals
available along Amherst Avenue in Margate. If you brought your own, there
are plenty of places to launch, including on the bay on Dorset Avenue in
Ventnor. On the beach, kayaking is permitted anywhere in Margate where
there is no lifeguard stand. And in Ventnor, kayaking is allowed at Princeton,
Buffalo, and Lafayette, and between Surrey and Suffolk avenues.
