Clean

All oil, grease, dust, lubricants and other soluble dirt on steel surface can
use solvent, emulsion and Alkali cleaner to clean
4.1.1

pretreatment before cleaning

4.1.1.1

Before cleaning, firstly remove loose materials using rigid fiber brush or
wire brush. And also remove thick oil and grease attached on steel surface
4.1.2

Cleaning ways

1
Before coating, work piece surface cleaning ways as follows: solvent
( such as industrial gasoline, solvent gasoline and turpentine), alkali cleaner
(TSP), emulsion and steam cleaning(can be used together with detergent and
alkali cleaner ). All cleaning ways suitable scope and matters needing attention

Safety measures

If no safety measures, no solvent cleaning operation can be done.

4.1.3.2
Solvent storage and carry should implement according to national and
industrial rules.
4.1.3.3
4.1.3.1

Q/RG J204.14 -2013

Operate in limit space, ventilating and inspection measures need to be

installed. Combustible gas and organic solvent steam concentration should
conform to national standard and rules.
4.1.3.4

When do cleaning job, workers must wear safety glasses , rubber

gloves and safety protection suit. If necessary, ware antigas mask.
4.1.3.5
When use steam to clean, please prevent scald.
4.2
Tool rust removal
4.2.1

Pretreatment
4.1

Before tool rust removal, visible oil, grease and scale on steel surface
need to be done according to 4.1 regulation ways and design.
4.2.2

Tool rust removal ways

4.2.2.1

Hand-operated tool rust removal

Use flush hand-operated tool to remove rust and welding spatter on

steel material surface.
4.2.2.1.2

Use wire brush, flint paper, scraper knife and other similar tools to
remove scale cinder, loose rust and loose old coating.
4.2.2.1.1

4.2.2.2

power tool rust removal

4.2.2.2.1

Use power drive rotary type or impact rust removal tool, such as
rotary wire and grinding wheel etc to remove hierarchy rust, welding splash
and scale cinder, loose rust and loose old coating.
4.2.2.2.2

Q/RG J204.14 -2013

Parts power tool cant reach should use hand operated tools as
supplement.
4.2.2.2.3

Use tools to remove rust, never damage steel surface

4.2.3

Safety measures

4.2.3.1

GB 12942
If existing fire or explode dangers, before working, prepare well
safety protection work. If flammable material has ever been taken, firstly
clear away flammable material. Flammable gas concentration should conform to
national standard coating safety operation rules in limit operation space.
4.2.3.2

If material disposed is near to flammable material and gas, use nospark tools.
4.2.3.3

Operators should use goggle, filtering respirators and protection suit.

4.3

Spray shot derusting (cast)

4.3.1

Pretreatment
4.1

Before Spray shot derusting (cast), visible oil, grease and scale on steel
surface need to be done according to 4.1 regulation ways and design.
4.3.2

grinding material

4.3.2.1

grinding material fineness

0.8 mm1.2 mm 2.0mm

2 mm
grinding material fineness is 0.8 mm 1.2 mm generally. It is not allowed
coarse grain fineness more than 2.0mm existing. (aluminizing allows to use
fineness about 2 mm grinding material)
4.3.2.2

Q/RG J204.14 -2013

Grinding material species

G25G40S330S2807:36:4
0.8 mm 1.5 mm

grinding material divided into metal and nonmetal. Metal grinding material
mainly includes steel, steel grit, steel wire etc. Corner angle steel grit
standard is G25 and G40. Steel grit standard is S330 and S280. Proportion
of steel grit and steel should be controlled as 7:36:4 generally and can also
add moderate wire section whose standard is 0.8 mm 1.5 mm. Nonmetal
grinding material mainly includes carborundum, alumina and coal cinder etc.
4.3.2.3

grinding material quality requirements

Grinding material surface should not have grease, corrosion, water and
other impurity. All grinding material should be clean and dry. Grinding material
including impurity and impure grinding material cant be used. Special
requirements for grinding material should implement according to special paint
painting process.
