The teacher narrates the passage around to her students.
Narrative-I : Once upon a time there lived a king by name Brahmadatta. He was a
great king and his kingdom was vast. Whenever he celebrated his victory in war or his deeds in
peace, he invited all the people in his land, the high and the low, the rich and the poor.
I. Now answer the questions. (3X1=3)
1. What was the name of the king?
2. When did the king arrange a feast?

Narrative -II : Once on the day of Holi, the king arranged a feast in his palace and invited
every subect of his kingdom. On this day, his garden was lit with lamps. !rowds of people came to
attend the feast. But the gardener could not attend the feast because there was nobody to guard his
garden. "o he looked very sad.
#he gardener looked around. He saw a monkey sitting in a tree$top looking at him.
