Bachelor of Science Ordinary Degree in Construction and Fire Technology in Letterkenny Institute of
Technology, Port Road, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, Ireland. (2008-2011)

Bachelor of Science Higher Degree in Construction Project Management in Sligo Institute of Technology,
Ballinode Road, Sligo, Co. Sligo, Ireland. (2011-2012)

Key strengths and achievements as you complete your initial training:
(Where have you made the most progress from your starting points? What are your strengths as you begin your first year of teaching?)

Consistently planned and delivered lessons at an outstanding level. These lessons embraced all learning styles and allowed for
all students in the class to progress.
Excellent classroom management. All students are kept on track with interesting tasks and any low level disruption is dealt with
effectively.
Owen has excellent working relationships with both students and staff. He is well respected and a highly valued member of the
faculty.
Developed work for the mentor group on behaviour.
Marked and moderated the GCSE Product Design controlled assessment with the relevant members of staff and made positive
contributions.
Developed and delivered an electronics lesson/day to Y4 students who visited the school for the day. (Primary Lesson).
Owen has used whole school and faculty assessment criteria when marking students work.
Owen has taken on board comments made in lesson observations and used these to inform his planning of future lessons.
Owen has attended a Y9 Resistant Materials Parents Evening and made positive contributions to this. He has also taken a
positive role as a mentor for a tutor group and has a break time duty.
Owens teaching has gone from strength to strength with him taking on board comments/criticisms and acting on them.
Resources have been produced regularly and are improving all of the time.
Owen has written reports attended parents evenings and marked work effectively and has done a lunch duty.
Owen has co-mentored a Y9 form, interviewing pupils and setting realistic and achievable targets.
Excellent progress made with regard to subject knowledge.
Owen has involved himself fully with extra-curricular activities and has been a great help.
Owen has taken on board advice and acted on it.

To work on preparing and delivering a greater range of differentiated work to meet the needs of the pupils who may require
assistance.
To involve myself in extra-curricular activities as a means of generating and improving student and staff relations.
To attend courses as a means of subject knowledge development and furthering my future career prospects.

To attend middle leadership courses with a view to possibly becoming assistant or department leader.
To attend courses relating to systems and control as a means of developing subject knowledge leading to the delivery of
Systems and Control at Key Stage 4.

To be given the opportunity to observe and support in lessons at post 16 to gain the necessary experience to deliver said
lessons.
