Adverbs of Frequency
We use adverbs of frequency to say how often we do things. Adverbs of frequency go before all
verbs EXCEPT the verb to be.
Check out these
Never hardly ever rarely (seldom) sometimes usually (often)- always
*Remember that with never and hardly ever we use POSITIVE sentences.
Examples:
- We dont never bother customers when they are resting in their rooms. (INCORRECT)
- We never bother customers when they are resting in their rooms.
* With dont and doesnt we use the adverb of frequency after these and before the verb.
Example:
- We dont usually travel.
* Sometimes can go at the beginning of the sentence. (Sometimes puede ir al comienzo de
una oracin)

2 INGLES NIVEL INTERMEDIO - Adverbs of frequency.

The adverbs of frequency answer the typical question starting with "#$% $&'()*+
Examples:
,- How often do you go on tours when you go on holidays?
I always go on tours when I am on holidays
.- How often does your travel agent suggest the best options?
She seldom/rarely suggests the best options.
/- How often is Claudio late for work.
He is never late for work
** How often = Con qu frecuencia. Para decir la horas exacta uno tambin puede
preguntar (What time?) RECORDEMOS QUE Para responder la hora exacta utilizamos la
preposicion at antes de la hora.
Here are some other expressions we can use to say how often. All of these longer phrases go
at the beginning or the end of the sentence but not in the middle.
once in a while: I go to supervise tours once in a while.
every now and again: She makes reservations every now and again.
from time to time: From time to time I phone my clients.

To say how often something happens, you can use a number or several or many, followed by
times.( If the number is one, use once instead of one time. If the number is two use twice
instead of two times) Then add a and a period of time:
I make reservations twice a week.
She take phone calls three times a day.
I change sales once a fortnight (fortnight = two weeks).
I see him several times a year.
I talk to my boss once a month.

We can also use every + period of time:
every morning
every day
every Tuesday
every week
every month

3 INGLES NIVEL INTERMEDIO - Adverbs of frequency.

A day of the week with s at the end, for example on Tuesday0 means the same as every
Tuesday:
I check reservations on Wednesdays.
I open the office at 9 oclock on Saturdays.

Simple Present Tense
There are three important exceptions:
1. For positive sentences, we do not normally use the auxiliary. (DO, DOES)
2. For the 3rd person singular (he, she, it), we add 0 to the main verb or (0 to the auxiliary.
3. For the verb to be, we do not use an auxiliary, even for questions and negatives.
Look at these examples with the main verb like:
Subject auxiliary verb main verb
I, you, we, they book flights.
+
He, she, it books flights
I, you, we, they do not book flights
-
He, she, it does not book flights
Do I, you, we, they book Flights?
?
Does he, she, it book Flights?

Look at these examples with the main verb !". Notice that there is no auxiliary:
Subject main verb
I am French.
You, we, they are French. +
He, she, it is French.
I am not French.
You, we, they are not French. -
He, she, it is not French.
Am I late?
Are you, we, they late? ?
Is he, she, it late?

4 INGLES NIVEL INTERMEDIO - Adverbs of frequency.

How do we use the Simple Present Tense?
We use the simple present tense when:
the action is general
the action happens all the time, or habitually, in the past, present and future
the action is not only happening now
the statement is always true
John drives a taxi.
Past present future

It is John's job to drive a taxi. He does it every day. Past, present and future.

With the verb to be, we can also use the simple present tense for situations that are not general.
We can use the simple present tense to talk about )$%. Look at these examples of the verb "to
be" in the simple present tense - some of them are general, some of them are )$%:
Am I right? Jim is not at the
office. You are happy.
past present future

The situation is now.

Lets go now and check all the activities in the platform.
