Appropriate operating elements are available as accessories pertaining to control unit type 743. Terminals X4.1, GND: earth connection X4.2, 24V: internal control voltage X4.3, SPA IN: Input for clamping magnets X4.4, UMP IN: Input for starting the demagnetizing process X4.5 to X4.8, HK1 IN to HK4 IN: selection of clamping force step. Clamping force steps You can set up to 16 different clamping force steps by means of the four inputs for the selection of the clamping force. The highest clamping force step is set automatically in the event that these inputs remain unoccupied. In the control unit it is possible to programme the 6-step, 8-step or 16-step regulation of the clamping force acc. to your requirements (please refer to chapter 5.1.3). Select the switch for the setting of the clamping force accordingly. Figure 6 shows you the standard coding of the clamping force steps. Behaviour in the event of bounce The inputs SPA IN and UMP IN only connect through after the set rise-delay has lapsed thus filtering out a possible bouncing. Fig. 6 Control inputs of basic configuration Wiring diagram 4 Fig. 7 selection of clamping force step pole reversal clamping Chapter 4 Installation Page 10 Wagner Magnete Electronic pole reversal control unit 752 -01/02 b 4.2.2.2 Additional control inputs with type 752-ST/2 Individual magnet selection (only available in the case of a configuration with monitor programme). Four additional control inputs have to be wired in the event that the optional individual magnet selection is used. The connections X4.9 to X4.12 marked MAG1 IN to MAG4 IN have been provided for this task (please refer to wiring diagram 5). Functioning: A control signal on MAG1 IN selects all magnets connected to the first power part. MAG2 IN refers to the second power part, etc. Please note that the control part can only trigger the selected power parts simultaneously with the same function, i. e. all selected power parts operate with the same clamping force step during magnetization. It is not possible to operate with one power part in magnetization operation and another power part in pole reversing operation simultaneously. Further- more, with electromagnets it is only possible to disconnect power parts operating in magnetiza- tion operation jointly Control inputs for optional extras Four control inputs are reserved for other appli- cations specific to the clients requirements. In the event of your using these inputs, connect in accordance with wiring diagram 6. The answering signal is carried out via inverted signals. OPT2 OUT to OPT 4 OUT: Reserved for special applications in accordance with special description. (*) Only available with configuration via monitor programme. 4.2.4 Junction between control part and power part As shown in figure 5, join the connector X8 of each power part to the corresponding X6.1 to X6.4 connector on the control part (via supplied coaxial wire). Join the control part to the first power part and interconnect the other power parts with the 20-pole ribbon cable (connector X7/X9). 4.2.5 Connection of magnet to power part Connection to top terminals of power part in accordance with wiring diagram 11. ATTENTION: If a connector is built in between power part and magnet, you have to take into consideration that the connector is never disconnected during current conduction (display POT). In case of non-observance the connector and power part will be destroyed! Additional outputs with type 752-ST/2 Example: signal lamps at magnet selector Wiring diagram 10 Wiring diagram 11 Connection of magnet to power part Chapter 4 Installation Page 13 Wagner Magnete Electronic pole reversal control unit 752 -01/02 b 4.2.6 Connection of control part to supply voltage The control part can be connected to the supply voltage in two ways: Connection to 230 V, 50/60 Hz. supply voltage (wiring diagram 12). Connection to 400 V, 50/60 Hz. supply voltage (wiring diagram 13). Please consult the specifications given on the front panel and name plate in the event of special models designed for other connection voltages. Attention: The control part should never be connected to both 230V and 400V at the same time: either N or L2 must remain free! Damage will be caused to the appliance if this important information is ignored! The control part is protected by fuse internally. The fuse must be designed according to the used diameter of the cable. 4.2.7 Connection of power part to supply voltage The power part is connected to the supply voltage at the bottom terminals. The connection must correspond with the magnets connected in accordance with table 1. There should be no fault current safety switch integrated in the network feed line owing to the fact that as a result leakage currents can flow towards earth thus possibly causing false triggering. When using an isolating transformer the device must be connected according to wiring diagram 15. The grounding of a conductor of the isolating transformers secondary side serves the protection against accidental contact. If the arrangement is operated ungrounded, a ground sensor must be included instead of the earth connection of the secondary cycle. Configuration of pole reverser The electronic pole reversal control unit is preconfigured at our premises in accor- dance with your specifications so that it is usually only necessary to gauge the appliance at your works. You will find references about preadjustments by the works in an instruction leaflet at the control unit. Furthermore, the preadjusted clamping force curve and the adjusted magnetic type can be found out via the status display (see chapter 6.1). If the customer data sheets or the pole reversal control unit itself contain device specific instructions make sure to give priority to these instructions before following the operating instructions. The configuration may have to be altered in the event that the electronic pole reversal control unit is to be used for a different task. The configuration is memorized in an EEPROM (permanent data memory). Hence, all data are still maintained when the appliance is dis- or reconnected. The manual configuration is usually carried out via the wire bridges being connected to connector X4 according to illustrations 9 to 17. A configuration connector is available as accessory by means of which all configuration codes can be connected easily and quickly via an installed coding switch. 5.1 Manual configuration The so-called manual-configuration is carried out via the control inputs at connector X4. For the manual configuration, each individual configuration step has to be carried out in a separate passage. Hence, the respective configuration codes are not allowed to be combined. Each configuration passage is initiated when the code specified in table 2 is fed to the corresponding input terminals for at least 4 seconds while the control part is activated. Table of configuration codes for manual configuration: HK4 HK3 HK2 HK1 UMP SPA Gauging 0 0 0 0 1 1 Electromagnet with transformer 0 0 0 1 1 1 Electromagnet 110V without transformer 0 0 1 0 1 1 Perm. electromagn. 0 1 0 0 1 1 Perm. electromagn. The configuration code is fed by laying wire bridges to the corresponding terminals of connector X4. The requisite 24 V DC are taken by X4.2 If using an SPS, the configuration code can also be fed by the SPS. How to proceed for configuration Connect apparatus while in idle status. Connect wire bridges at connector X4 in accordance with table 2 or insert con- figuration connector. Connect voltage at power part. Connect voltage at control part (simulta- neous connection with power part also possible, however, not before). Wait until configuration process is termina- ted (status display extinguishes). Connect apparatus while in idle status. Remove wire bridges or configuration connector. If required, carry out next configuration step in the same way. Connect trip lines at connector X4. Apparatus is ready for operation. Chapter 5 Configuration Page 16 Wagner Magnete Electronic pole reversal control unit 752 -01/02 b 5.1.1 How to set magnet type The magnet type is shown at the status display after activating the control part (see also chap. 6.1 - Display and operating elements). After the process, the control part has to be disconnected from the mains and the wire bridges. Always make sure that the correct magnet type is configured. If the incorrect magnet is used, damage will be caused to the power part or the magnet will be destroyed. Furthermore, the correct functioning of the magnet is not given although the outputs of the electronic pole reversal control unit display that it is correct. Fig. 9 Fig. 10 Fig. 11 Fig. 12 Chapter 5 Configuration Page 17 Wagner Magnete Electronic pole reversal control unit 752 -01/02 b 5.1.2 Clamping force steps The number of clamping force steps are determined here in accordance with the coding switch used. There are three standard clamping force curves available (6-,8-and 16 step). To-gether with the monitor programme a freely-changeable clamping force curve can be selected. Input feeding for 6-step clamping force curve Input feeding for 8-step clamping force curve. Input feeding for 16-step clamping force curve. The following status is displayed during the configuration process: for 6-step clamping force curve for 8-step clamping force curve for 16-step clamping force curve After the configuration process the display extinguishes. The control part now has to be disconnected from the mains and the wire bridges removed accordingly. The clamping force curve can be set individually by means of a monitor programme which is available as accessory. 5.1.3 How to carry out gauging process The current consumption of the connected magnet (or magnet group) is measured during the gauging process. The measured value is stored and is then available as a comperative value. The current monitoring device then constantly verifies whether the current intensity ranges within the permissible range in relation to the comparative value. Important: Gauging process must be carried out while the magnets are cold! All power parts and magnets must be connected! The gauging process must be carried out: before each start-up after alteration of configuration of clamping force step after connection of a different magnet Feeding of input for carrying out gauging process: Fig. 16 The status display flashes slowly during the gauging process An internal number code is counted off at the display, ending with 4. The status display extinguishes when the gauging process has been terminated. Now the control part has to be disconnected from the mains and the wire bridges removed accordingly. wire bridges Fig. 13 Fig. 14 Fig. 15 Chapter 5 Configuration Page 18 Wagner Magnete Electronic pole reversal control unit 752 -01/02 b 5.1.4 How to reset relays The end positions of the relays of electronic pole reversal control unit are permanent, i.e. they remain in the position last connected when the appliance is switched off. If it is necessary to reset the relay you may do this via this function, by means of which the relays are reset to their basic position (contacts are open). Input feeding for resetting relays. Fig. 17 5.2 Configuration via PC An effortless and straightforward configuration is possible by connecting the monitor programme (available as accessory) via the PC connected socket X5. This monitor programme offers you a whole variety of additional configuration possibilities, for example: Individual determination of separate clamping force steps. Freely programmable pole reversing process to achieve an optimum demagneti- zing quality and a short demagnetizing time. Flexibility for control signals and clamping cycles. Please refer to the list given in our prospectus for all configuration possibilities. 5.3. Devices with several power parts If several power parts are connected to one control unit, they are usually activated together. In order to activate the option separate selection of power parts the monitor programme that is available as accessory is neccesarry. As far as this option is concerned the following restrictions are to be taken into consideration: in case of electro magnets the power parts can be connected individually, but they can only be switched off together. All power parts function in the same clamping force degree. in case of electro permanent magnets the power parts can be connected and switched off individually. The clamping force degree is set and kept until switching off which was selected in the starting moment of the corresponding power part. the following applies to all types of magnets: during the pole reversing process no other control signals are taken into consideration. Several power parts can, however, realize the pole reversing process with activation at the same time. Chapter 6 Operation and Service Page 19 Wagner Magnete Electronic pole reversal control unit 752 -01/02 b 6. Start-up and operation The electronic pole reversal control unit 752 is only allowed to be started up by a qualified electrician who is familiar with all the relevant stipulations regarding magnetic units. The equipment must be installed completely and the gauging process carried out prior to starting up. Important: Please make sure that the correct magnet type has been configured and that the input voltage at the power part is correct. Damage will be caused to the electronic pole reversal control unit of the magnet destroyed if this is not the case. It is also possible that the correct functioning of the magnet is not given, although the outputs of the electronic pole reversal control unit display that it is correct. A detailed functioning test must be carried out after installing the appliance and after any alteration to the installation. 6.1 Display and operating elements Display of status An automatic internal test is carried out as soon as the supply voltage is activated. If an error was not displayed, the display 7 appears first, then the status display for the adjusted clamping force curve: for 6 step clamping force curve for 8 step clamping force curve for 16 step clamping force curve for freely-changeable clamping force curves (only available via a monitor programme). The status display shows then the currently configured magnetic type as a permanent display. Electromagnet, operation with transformer Electromagnet 110V, operation without transformer Permanent electromagnet N-type permanent electromagnet e.g. type 1110N-.../1210N-... special adjustments, e. g. different types of magnets at 2 or more power parts can only be adjusted or changed via a monitor pro- gramme. An error is signalled when the status display flashes and the control is not ready for operation. Please refer to chapter 7 for explanations regarding the recognition and treatment of errors. This is why it is necessary to carry out a demagnetizing process. Demagnetizing is carried out according to the following principle: During the demagnetization constantly decreasing currents are conveyed through the field coil during the polar change, thus degrading the remaining magnetism to a maximum extent. The length of the process and the current decrease have to be varied in accordance with the given conditions. The remaining magnetism in the magnet and work piece is subject to the following parameters: type of magnet work piece material shape and thickness of work piece The optimum demagnetization has to be investigated by trial since it is not possible to make a mathematical prediction as to how long the demagnetization is to be done for the respective constellation. Optimation 15 demagnetizing programmes have been prepared for each magnet type. The pro- grammes are selected via the 16-step selector switch responsible for the demagnetizing programmes (S1). Select 0 if an optimized demagnetizing programme is to be used via the monitor programme and PC. Procedure Place the work piece on the magnet and ascertain the optimum demagnetizing programme by trial. 6.3 Reaction in the event of a power failure A power failure recognition device is active while the magnet is connected and reacts in due accordance with the connected magnet: Electromagnets: The signal SPA OUT (machine release) and, if connected, the acknowledge message of the individual magnets, MAG1 OUT to MAG4 OUT, are disconnected immediately. The error output ERROR is activated. Permanent electromagnets: The signal SPA OUT (machine release) and, if connected, the acknowledge message of the individual magnets, MAG1 OUT to MAG4 OUT, remain at their current status and indicate that the magnet is connected when the supply voltage has been resumed. Display and treatment of errors In the event of an error the LED display of ERROR lights up and an error code flashes at the status display. Error code Interpretation Remedy Calibration values are not stored in the control part, yet, or (if they were already stored): Suspected insulation damage (earth leakage) Carry out calibration process Disconnect power part and measure the insulation of the magnet and feed line against earth (test voltage 500V, insulating resistance 200 Ohms) A safety-relevant relay output was not connected. The apparatus must be returned to the manufacturers for inspection Undercurrent - the measured current to the magnet is too low. Check magnet and feed line. Have the ribbon and coaxial wires been connected correctly? Excess current - the measured current to the magnet is too high Check network voltage at power part. Carry out gauging once you are sure the magnet and feed wire are in correct functioning order. Internal current supply 24V in the control part is either overstressed or faulty Pull the plug for inputs and outputs and wait for 2 minutes Switch on device (with pulled plug) - if there is still an error, send the device to the company of Wagner - if no error is displayed, check the load at the signal outputs and reduce it, if necessary (e.g. coupling relay) Chapter 8 / 9 Technical data / Declaration of conformity Page 23 Wagner Magnete Electronic pole reversal control unit 752 -01/02 b 8. Accessories / Option Configuration connector Article No. 1008991 All configuration codes for the manual configuration can easily, quickly and safely be installed by an built-in configuration switch. Herefore only the connector X4 together with the connected conduits are drawn off and the configuration connector is inserted. Monitor program Article No. 1013512 By the monitor programme the configuration possibilities for the electronic pole reversal control unit are extended considerably. Thus the following options are available, e. g.: Selection and modification of the freely- programmable clamping force curve Modification of the pole reversal programm Reduction of the clamping force in case of electro-permanent magnets without previous pole reversal process Individual selection of the power parts so that each magnet can be activated individually in case of magnet combinations Different types of magnets at individual power parts, e. g. electro-permanent- magnet at power part 1, electro-magnet at power part 2 Overexcitation when switching on the electro magnets Control of the plug connection when the current supply is separated after the clamping impulse. This list contains only a few of the most important points. We can provide you with further details for special application cases. Interface cable Article No. 1011443 For the connection between pc (monitor programme) and electronic pole reversal control unit. Connector monitoring Pole reversal control units type 752-.. S-4 are provided with the special configuration "Connector monitoring". In this configuration a control signal is sent to input OPT1 IN via a bridge in the connector. If this control signal is not applied because the connector is not correctly plugged in the pole reversal control unit will not trigger any switching operations.
