Acronymic Sentence Strategy

Acronymic sentences also can be used to remember information. An acronymic sentence is created from words
whose first letter helps you remember information. For example, the following acronymic sentence was created to
remember the names and orders of the planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune).
My very educated mother just served us noodles.
Here is how to use the acronymic sentence strategy:

1. Write the information you need to remember.
2. Circle the words that will help you remember the information.
3. Underline the first letter of each word.
4. Create and write a sentence using words that begin with the underlined letters.

Write an acronymic sentence for each of the following sets of information:
1. Food groups: protein, dairy, fruit and vegetable, carbohydrates

2. Protein group: steak, liver, veal, pork, chicken, eggs

3. Dairy group: milk, cheese, cream, butter

4. Fruit/Vegetable group: apple, pear, orange, banana, carrot, bean, radish

5. Carbohydrate group: cracker, rice, pasta, granola, muffin, bun, waffle, pancake
