2 cups Natural Vanilla
Ice Cream
3 cups sliced fruit
(strawberries,
pineapple, banana)

1 red apple - cored and
chopped
1 yellow apple - cored and
chopped
2 pears - cored and chopped
75 ml apple juice
1 lemon

2 cups Natural Vanilla Ice

3 cups sliced fruit

Ingredients
1 Place fruit in a bowl.
2 Moisten with apple and
lemon juice.
3 Stir in oats, raisins and
honey.
4 Add yoghurt and remaining
75 gm quick-cooking
rolled oats
1 Tbsp honey
250 ml yoghurt
2 Tbsp diced almonds
2 Tbsp raisins
1 Tbsp grated jaggery

1 Heat a Belgian waffe iron.
2 Mix the four, sugar, and baking powder together in a
mixing bowl. Stir in 1 cup eggnog, butter, and the egg
until well blended.
3 Pour some batter onto the preheated waffe iron,
close the top, and cook until golden brown and crisp on
both sides.
4 To serve, drizzle raspberry preserves over each waf-
fe, and top with raspberries. If the mood should take
you, you can add a dollop of whipped cream to each
waffe.
Directions 5 ingredients except
jaggery.
6 Cover and chill.
7 Serve sprinkled with
grated jaggery.

a reputation for being high in fat and

unsaturated fats found in almonds will
help you feel fuller for longer, which
makes them an ideal snack. Just
watch your porition size.
Adding more vegetables such as let-
tuce in your diet will help you to con-
trol your caloric intake, lose weight
and improve your health Lettuce is
naturally low in calories and has no
fat or cholestrol. in fact, lettuce has
fewer calories per serving than most
vegetables . Its also a great source
of several important nutrients , and
has a high water content The high fbre content and low
calorie of apples means they
have a high thermic effect - it ac-
tually takes more energy to digest
them than they provide.
Keeping your sodium levels low
will also help to prevent excess
water weight by reducing water

in apples that can help your body
digest food more effciently.
Egg whites have a high protein
content, and are highly bioavailable,
which means the amino acids are
immediately absorbed and available
to start rebuilding damaged muscle

weight loss food as they are low in

Dear Tina:
I have had quite a sensative
digestive system in the last few
years and have found that certain
gluten-free foods work well for
me. As a result my diet can be
quite repetitive. Do I risk building
sensitivity to these foods too if I
continue to eat them regularly?
Dear Ellen: Eating gluten-free-
makes perfect sense for people
with celiac disease or suffering
from a signifcant sensitivity to
gluten. But for the majority who
are not bothered by gluten and
who just have sensitive GI sys-
tems there are no real benefts
to this drastic change. It is true
some people report feeling lighter
once they reduce their intake of
products with gluten; partly due
That being said, choosing a
few gluten-free products while
maintaining a balanced diet wont
cause any harm, but restricting
your intake to only gluten-free
products should not be done
long-term unless you suffer from
celiac disease as it is possible to
develop some nutritional defcien-
cies and can also lead to long-
term weight gain, but there is no

sensitivity to gluten-free products
