The 16 th MUMBAI FILM FESTIVAL is organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI), a not-for- profit trust founded by Indian film industry personalities. Renowned Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal is the Chairman of MAMI.
The 16 th Mumbai Film Festival is FIAPF accredited.

Applicants may choose to which section(s) they wish to offer their film. The film / filmmaker must qualify as per the regulations of the section(s) to which they are applying for.
Regulations for Participation
There are distinct regulations covering participation in each section of the Festival. Please see the respective sections regulations before applying.
Submission
Submission of a film must be made on the official Festival entry form, duly completed and sent with a preview screener (DVD PAL - all region), synopsis and the complete cast and credits. The form must be sent to:

Deadline for Submissions
Entry form, screeners (DVD PAL - all region) and other information must reach festival before August 02, 2014. This deadline must be strictly observed.

The cost of the courier charges for the preview material is to be borne by the applicant.
Notice of Dispatch
At the same time, the sender should inform the Festival by e-mail of the title of the film, the date and means of shipment, and the AWB number.
Entry Fee
The Festival does not charge any entry fee.
Selection
For selection screening, films must be submitted in their original language. Films in English may be submitted without subtitles, but films in other language should be subtitled in English.
Obligations on Selection
Films selected for 16 th Mumbai Film Festival may not be withdrawn from the Festival programme after its publication. Films should not have been screened in India i.e. released commercially in theatres, in video or

Page 3 of 5 telecast or on internet or participated in any film festival in India. Preference will be given to World Premiers, International Premiers, Asian Premiers and Indian Premiers, in that order. During the Festival itself film selected in 16 th Mumbai Film Festival may not be screened outside the Festival venues in India before its official presentation. Applying in 61 st National Film Awards, 2013 does not preclude Indian film from applying in 16 th Mumbai Film Festival.
Excerpts for Television
For promotion of the films on Television, the applicant should provide a maximum 3 minute EPK in Digibeta / DVD (PAL - all region) format. This will be returned along with the print of the film upon explicit demand by the applicant at his / her cost.
Official Logo and Promotion
For the films selected, the Festival expects the official Festival logo to be included in all promotion and publicity material in a prominent place. The Festival provides suitable logos for each programme section. For requests please send an email to publicity@mumbaifilmfest.com.

Press Service and Press Conferences
Producers and distributors are required to provide the Festival press office with an appropriate supply of press brochures, photos and video excerpts. The Festival professionally records all press conferences in BETA SP format. The recordings are available in original version. For a license fee, producers and distributors can purchase the recordings for their Electronic Press Kits or DVDs. More information can be found at press@mumbaifilmfest.com.
Programming
The programming of the films selected is entirely at the discretion of the Festival Management whose decision is irrevocable. Each film may be screened up to a maximum of four times during the Festival in Mumbai. Only the invited guests and registered delegates, including press and industry delegates are admitted entry for the screenings. The Festival does not charge entry fee for attending the screenings.
Screening Format
Films selected in Mumbai Film Festival will be screened in 35mm print or DCP projection. In some cases, the festival may accept films in HDCam or Digibeta PAL formats.
Return of Film Screening Material and Screeners
The screening material provided to the Festival i.e. film prints / hard disks / beta tapes will be returned by the Festival or its shipping agent according to the print owner's instructions. Festival pays one way freight for this

Page 4 of 5 screening material, either for receiving the print or for its return as per owners direction. Any exception to this must be agreed upon in advance by the Festival with the producer / sales agent.
DVD screeners sent for selection will only be returned upon explicit demand and at the applicants expense. Requests can be submitted after Festival dates and until six months after the Festival.
Right of Participation
Participation in the Festival implies adherence to the regulations as here set out. It is the responsibility of producers, distributors, or other organizations submitting a film to ensure that they are legitimately entitled to enter a film in the Festival. The Festival Director has the right to settle all cases unforeseen in the regulations of participation, as well as to permit exceptions from the regulations in special, well-founded cases.
Audience Choice Award
The audience will vote to select the most popular film of the festival which will carry a cash award of Rs. 10,00,000/- and Silver Gateway trophy. The Cash award will be shared equallly between director and producer of the film. Indian Tax laws will apply for transfer of cash awards.
This award is not specific to any particular section in the Festival and all the films participating in the Festival, excepting Dimensions Mumbai section and Retrospectives / Homage section would be eligible for voting.
Mumbai Young Critics Award
Thirty Two media students from various Mumbai Colleges would be selected to watch the films in the Festival. Their critiques will be published in the daily bulletin. These young critics will vote the film of their choice from among the films selected in the International Competition section and Above The Cut Section, which would be awarded Mumbai Young Critics Award (Silver Gateway trophy).
Responsibility of the Festival
In case of damage to or loss of a print sent for screening in the festival, the Festival is only responsible for the costs involved in either restoration / repair of the damaged print or making a new print of damaged reel according to the current laboratory rates for ordering a standard print. This responsibility of Festival for damage to or loss of a film print / hard disk / tape is applicable (i) while the print is in Festivals custody, and / or (ii) in the shipping / transit mode through Festivals shipping agent / courier. Any claims for damage or loss of print, lodged by the lender of the copy must be communicated to the Festival at the very latest, within one month of return of the print to the lender.
