TEMPORARY
Ilanka Community Health Center Certified Nurse/Medical Assistant

Team: Health and Wellness Team Salary range: $12.25-$16.46 per hour
Reports to: Registered Nurse Schedule: 40 hours per week, temporary
FLSA Status: Non Exempt from Overtime Last Revised: May, 2011

The Certified Nurses Assistant is responsible for assisting the Registered Nurse in patient care. The
Ilanka Community Health Nurse CNA must be caring and compassionate while providing quality health
care assistance. ICHCs CNAs report to the registered nurse for all CNA duties, ICHCs MAs report to
the resident physician/medical director for all MA duties.

The incumbent performs a variety of routine work within established policies and procedures, and
receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments.


Responsibilities/Duties:
Check in patients-vitals, history.
Check lab for patient results.
Assist RN, midlevel practitioner and physician within scope as asked.
Take instruments to autoclave as needed or weekly and bring back when clean.
Take laundry for cleaning as needed or weekly and bring back when clean.
Clean exam rooms after each patient.
Puts charts in holder outside of rooms prior to each examination.
Perform procedures within scope under direction of RN, midlevel practitioner or physician.
Perform some inventory control.
Follow up with referrals, test results as asked.

Skills and Attributes:
The Ilanka Community Health Center CNA must maintain professional manner, be able to multi task,
have the ability to work quickly and accurately and be knowledgeable in health care.

Experience Requirement:
Successful applicant should have minimum of 1 year experience as a CNA in a clinical setting.

Education Requirements:
Must be highschool graduate and hold a current CNA or MA certificate

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Must have the ability to work well under pressure, have the skills to empathize and care for a variety of
patients in stressful situations. Must be neat and clean, and have the ability to present a calm and caring
manner. Must be able to be physically active for long periods of time to ensure patient care and safety.
Must have the knowledge or skills to operate and/or learn specialized software and computer programs.
Must have the ability to keep patient confidentiality.



Performance standard
Regularly bend and/or crouch for long periods of time to work on patients.
Regularly use fine motor skills at a heightened ability to perform procedures.
Typically use sight, smell and touch to complete job tasks accurately.
Typically lifts 15 lbs to coordinate work occasionally assist in lifting patients in excess of 100 lbs.
Regularly manipulate electronic data to gather, input and otherwise coordinate work.
Regularly use mental, oral and written methods to complete work.

Environmental Factors
Work will be completed in an outpatient clinic.
Exposure to Hazards: Housekeeping Products.

Category I: Tasks routinely involve a potential for mucous membrane or
skin contact exposure to blood, fluids or tissue. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), when
appropriate, is required.
