-Techniques and Practices - Notes taken by Oliver Cole, Crowstick, Spliff Richard, The
Witch Doctor and The Claw.

The contemplation of beauty in any of its forms. Laughter too is a great healer. And of course clear
thought.

To Counterbalance a Negative Condition (To treat common cold if practiced in the early stages)

-Sit in a straight backed chair. Take three deep easy breaths.
-Separate your feet and keep them squarely on the oor. Hands on knees not touching. Index
nger, middle and thumb touching in a triangle.
-Take a deep breath and hold it for a count of seven and release easily. After a short rest, continue.
Repeat seven times, change position and put the whole process out of your mind.

To Counterbalance a Positive Condition

-This time your feet should be touching. Hands must also be touching at the ngers. Hold them at
chest level, thumbs and ngers touching at tips.
-Close your eyes and exhale slowly. When all the air is out, hold for a count of 5. Then breath in
and out slowly and easily for about 5 or 6 times until you are relaxed again. Repeat ve times,
change position and put the whole process out of your mind.

Repeat two or three times with one or two hours space.

Observation

-When you go into a room for the rst time, shut your eyes for a second and see how many objects
you can name. Do this for any room you enter.
-After walking up or down stares, recall how many there were.
-In the evenings, recall what you did when you rst woke up and/or left the house. What did you
eat for breakfast? What did you do and see? Recall about three of four minutes of each day. The
next day recall a different three or four minute part of your day, i.e., after lunch.

Concentration

-Multiply two numbers of two digits (23 x 32) in your head. Do this until you are sure your answer is
correct. Then do the same with three digits. Do both exercises each day with different numbers.
-Memorise four lines of a poem, any poem, long or short. Do this once a day.
-When passing people, look closely into their faces. Then look away and for one minute or more,
hold that face on your minds eye. Study its expression Seek to understand its owner.

Continue exercises until you understand what it means to take hold of thought.

Meditation

-Sit with your back straight with feet touching but not crossed. Close your eyes and think of the
shade of blue. Any shade. But only think of one shade in any one meditative period. See it all
around you. See it ll the entire room. Do this for about one minute. Then spend the next minute
thinking of pink, and the next of pure white (the white of freshly fallen snow in the sunshine)
crystalline brilliance. Take a deep breath and relax.
-Then, for one minute, think of a violin playing. No other sound should be heard. For the second
minute, a horn (or whatever). For the third, a piano. Then, take a deep breath and shut it all out.

-See the colour pink all around you. See a clear light pink, not a fabric pink but pink as a ray of
light. See it in the front, sides and the back of you. See your self entirely enveloped in a pink cloud
which extends six to ten inches out from you in all directions. Now stand up and leave your body.
Walk to the other side of the room, turn around and look at yourself sitting there. See yourself
engulfed in a pink the cloud. Now go back to your body and continue to see yourself sitting in this
cloud of pink love, emanating from your body. Hold for one full minute, dismiss it from your mind,
take a deep breath and relax.

Taoist Stillness Dragon Point Method Added by Crowstick, not found in J. Weeds book.

-Sitting with a perfectly still mind is a useful and powerful meditation technique. We all nd it hard
to quite the mind if we are not already used to meditating. So how do we make that rst step. One
useful method is to practice The Celestial Gate Meditation. It is based on Dragon Points. Dragon
Points are places of convergence, where one form of chi meets another.
-There are several Dragon Points within the human body. The Celestial Gate is just one of these,
and happens to be a place where heavenly chi (a very subtle form of chi) ows into the body and
meets the terrestrial (or earth) chi of the body itself. Thus this place is an energetically charged
area, and Taoist sages discovered a long time ago how to take advantage of it.
-Sit comfortably and close your eyes. You can lie down if you wish, but this makes some people go
to sleep. For a moment, just notice your breath. Dont change it in any way; just watch it. Notice the
rhythm and the depth of your breath. Then after a moment, become aware of the space about an
inch behind the bridge of the nose. Imagine that there is an opening about one inch square in this
area. This is the Celestial Gate. All you do is focus on it.
-Do not concentrate on it. Just be aware of it. If you are having thoughts or fantasies, this is not a
problem. Let them continue on their merry way. Just let some part of your attention be on the
opening. You can think all you want about anything you want and the practice will still work so long
as some part of your attention is on the Celestial Gate (the opening).
-As you continue to focus at the gate, you will notice that thoughts eventually seem to slow down.
After a while, there will be more space between the thoughts or fantasies. And eventually they will
stop altogether, if only temporarily. It is during these moments that you might nd that your breath
has stopped or has become very shallow. This is natural, and is, in fact, a sign that you are
entering the deeper states of stillness. It is in these deepest states of quiescence where there is no
breath and no thought that contact with the Tao takes place.
-Doing it for about ve minutes will usually give you a clear sense of how this practice alters
awareness. Beginners usually take several minutes to settle down into the light stages of mental
stillness. But over time these periods get longer and one feels more condent about how to enter
these deeply relaxing states of mind.
-Research has shown that stillness practices, such as this, are very effective at counteracting
some of the negative effects of stress. Just twenty minutes once or twice a day can make a
tremendous difference in your sense of wellbeing.

Feeling love in the heart mediation Added by Crowstick, not found in J. Weeds book.

-Simply sit in quiet mediation and focus on feeling love in your heart, around the area of your chest.
It should manifest into warmth and a glow of energy that can be felt.

-Chant Aum whilst thinking that the sound will help to open up all of the chakras.
-Chant Aum whilst sending love as a pink light to others.
-Chant Aum whilst sending love into the Mother Earth.
-Chant Aum whilst thinking I am of perfect love and health.

To Gain Emotional Control

Perform each once or more everyday until you feel condent that your emotional nature is
responding to your mind in a more docile fashion than at present.

-Spill an ordinary box of matches onto the oor or table. Mix them thoroughly and then place them
all back into the box with all the tips pointing the same direction.

-Turn on the radio, computer or television set at normal volume, but do not look at the device. Not
even a quick look. When you have succeeded at not looking, then try not to hear or understand
what is being said and done.

If this is too difcult at rst, you may try a warm up exercise. Shut out all awareness apart from the
radio program. When you succeed, turn to a musical program and try to shut out all awareness of
all sound except that of one music instrument. If you can follow a violin or a clarinet through a three
minute interval then you are ready to go ahead with the rst part of the exercise. Do this once a
day or more until you have mastered it.

-Deliberately slow yourself down in relation to others. When you walk in the street, let others pass
ahead of you instead of pushing ahead of them. If you drive a car, drive it at less than the legal
limit. Give other cars the right of way. When entering or leaving a room, plane, train or ofce, let
those near your go rst.

Notes on Thought

-Avoid chaotic thinking and try to think logically. As soon as you become aware of a negative
thought, push it out. Replace aimless thoughts with precise ones.
-Avoid untruthful or distorted thinking. Stop releasing dark, dangerous thoughts, for these come
back to you like a boomerang in the form of bad luck.
-Adopt a positive attitude. A benediction sent out into the world is the purest and nest form of
thought energy. Your own projects van grow by benediction.

How to Greatly Increase Your Energy

-Sit erect but not too tense - or stand easily with your weight evenly balanced between both feet.
-Take a deep breath to the count of ve.
-Slowly relax and let the air out for the count of ten.
-Repeat this ten times consecutively.
-Whilst performing this exercise, close your jaw rmly and clench each hand into a st. As you
breath in and out think to yourself that each breath is bringing a great surge of energy and peer
which you are storing within you.

A Child of the Sun. This involves a visualisation and the effectiveness of the exercise will be in
direct ratio to the skill employed in visualising.
-Sit erect with your feet touching and hands clasped in your lap.
-Visualise the sun, a great white aming orb of prodigious energy.
-Mentally lift your consciousness from your body and go in sprit to the sun. Enter into its aming
aura and proceed to the body of the sun itself.
-Have no fear. You are a son of the sun and this is your rightful home. Let the suns tremendous
energy ow though your entire being invigorating and strengthening every particle.
-After one minute return to your body, rise and go on with your daily tasks.

All Ailment and Disorders Can Be Remedied

-Sit in a mediative position with back straight. Rest your hands in your lap unclasped. Visualise
yourself surrounded by a white cloud, a very bright, scintillating white light like sunlight upon new
fallen snow.
-The see that white light becoming more and more concentrated in the painful area.
-If the trouble is in the heart or lungs, visualise the concentration of light in the region of the fth
and seventh thoracic vertebrae of your spine. This is between and slightly below the shoulder
blades.
-For nervous system disorder, concentrate the white light in the area of the fth cervical vertebrae.
This will bring relief and strengthen the depleted nervous system.

How to Heal Others

-To heal others is much easier than to heal ones self. The best method is to gather energy and to
supply it to the patient.
-The healer must have purity of motive. Your sole objective must be to help the aficted one in
everyday you can.
-First you must build up a reservoir of psychic energy within yourself. This is done with
visualisation, but it must be accompanied by the attraction of desire for the energy and by will as a
conditioning and directing agent. You must visualise psychic energy pouring into you and actually
feel it power.
-You must want the energy to accumulate for the unselsh purpose you have in mind - the healing
of another - and you must seek to make tangible conscious contact with this energy in order to
properly manipulate it.
-Ten take three deep breaths, holding each to the count of seven and then releasing them slowly.
While taking these breaths, bring the rst two ngers and thumb of each hand together and hold
them in contact, each hand separate from the other. You are then ready to begin your treatment.

-For the present, you will just have to assume the patient is suffering from an unknown ailment.
-If She is willing and able to cooperate, ask her to relax and to calm her mind and emotions as
much as possible. Suggest that she thinks of a quiet pool of water in deep forest. Not a ripple
disturbs it and the white clouds overhead are perfectly mirrored in its depths as they sail
majestically along through the bright blue sky. Tell her what you are doing and why you go from
one step to the next. In this way the power of suggestion will be added to your efforts.
-Having calmed the patient and placed her in a receptive mood, repeat your own accumulation of
energy. Accompany your deep breaths by visualising the psychic energy owing into your body
from above and accumulating there in the region of your heart. The energy must be contained
there by act of your will until you are ready to release it into the patient. When you do not have a
denite knowledge of the ailment, as in the present imaginary case, you should transmit the energy
into the heart centre of the patient. This is done by directing it into her back adjacent to and on the
left side of her spine between the shoulder blades. This can be done in two ways.

1/ By contact: Place the index nger, the middle nger and thumb of your right hand all touching
each other on a spot on the left side of the patents spine between the shoulder blades. Then
release the accumulated energy into the body of the patient through the heart centre with which
you are making physical contact. It is important to have the proper visualisation at this point. You
are not releasing a limited amount of accumulated energy such as pouring out a container which
eventually empties itself. You are instead opening a valve into an unlimited supply energy which
will continue to ow through you into the patient as long as your visualisation is clear. The original
accumulation by you is more in the nature of the pump priming. The continuing ow is far greater
than your personal containment. Normally, you can with practice maintain a clear visualisation for
30 to 40 seconds. When it clouds or changes, remove your hand, relax and wait about ve
minutes. Then repeat the entire procedure starting with your own breathing and accumulation of
energy. Usually three such treatments at one time repeated again in their entirety at two or three
hour intervals will show results in 12 hours and frequently a cure in 24.

2/ By radiation: This method involves no physical contact. It usually works better if you are in the
same room with the patient and can see her. This gives you the opportunity to visually directed the
energy to the spot you select. However, it can be employed at a distance. The hands are not
considered and the entire process is carried through by the use of the mind, will and heart.

The will is used to collect the physic energy from the innite source but as soon as you turn your
attention to the patient to transfer that energy, the will must become quiescent and the force of
love must take over from that point onwards. The act of healing is an act of love.

Relieving a Headache

-A headache can be relieved by placing the tips of the rst two ngers of your right hand on the left
temple of the sufferer and the index and middle nger of the left hand lightly against the right
temple. Then visualise a ow of psychic energy going from the ngers of the right hand into the
head and out on the other side through the ngers of the left-hand. After three or four minutes the
pain will disappear and, if the cause is removed, will not return. Always wash your hands both
before and after giving this treatment, and of course, all contact treatment of any type.

Creative Visualisation Create Your Own Reality

-It is necessary to rst to clear your mind. Find a place where you'll not be interrupted or distracted
for about 30 minutes. The actual visualisation is not intended to last that long but it may take you a
while to clear your mind and bring it into some resemblance of rest. First relax physically. Now turn
your attention to your mind. See in your minds eye and with your physical eyes closed, a blank
screen like a motion picture screen. See it lling the entire space before you and visualise it being
well lit up with a white light. Now assemble on the screen of your consciousness, a living, detailed
picture of that which you wish to make manifests. Make it a living picture. See it as though it
actually exists before you. This will require singleness of purpose, a good imagination and an
ability to concentrate, none of which come naturally but must be acquired by practice. With enough
practice and determination, your visualisation Will become reality. The longer you can hold onto the
exact picture without change, the more rapidly it will manifest. You must also have complete and
abiding condence that what you visualise will come about. Others, seeing how simple it is,
become careless and go about it in half-hearted fashion. Some people nd it difcult to visualise
and others to concentrate, so you see it is not easy. But it can be done and it can be learnt in a
reasonably short time if you're willing to practice regularly, as you would most surely have to in
order to acquire any other skill.

Sending love to groups or individuals that are far from you

1/ Create a feeling of love, of warmth, of good will, in your breast, in the vicinity of your heart.
Visualise this as a glowing pink aura which emanates from the heart and completely surrounds
your body.
2/ Then visualise, see clearly in your minds eye, the person, or group, or entity you wish to help.
3/ By an act of will now send a portion of your aura in the form of a pink cloud to the object of your
love. Feel love for this person or object and see the pink cloud encapsule them in a pink aura of
protection.
4/ Then immediately dismiss all thought of it from your mind and regarded it as mission
accomplished.

Feel love. Send love. Encapsule a small portion of this kingdom of heaven, and bestow it upon
another so that it may grow like the mustard seed and brain comfort and peace to many.

Achieving Psychic Development

-Suspend a weight of about one-half an ounce from a light thread approximately 18 inches long.
When it has become perfectly still, command it to swing, swing like a pendulum or swing in a circle.
Swing! Just as you would say, Heel! to a dog. Be sure you have the right to mental attitude.
When you say heel to a dog you expect the commands to be obeyed. You may even feel slight
indignation if the dog does not obey immediately. Your attitude with the pendulum should be
exactly the same.
-Fill as soup plate with water and set it upon a solid table. Stand away so your breath will not affect
it and then command the water to ripple. Say R-r-r-r-ripple in a rm voice. It will-not much at rst,
but after you get the knack you will have it splashing out of the dish.
-lay a completely round and smooth pencil or piece of metal or plastic tubing on a level table with a
smoothly varnished top. Then command the pencil to roll towards you. Say Come here! to it, or
Roll over here! just as you would command a dog to roll over.

The Heart Centre

-Here is the rst exercise. It is designed to stimulate your heart centre into action.

1/ Close your eyes and turn your attention inward towards your heart.
2/ Now in imagination, enter your heart. To your surprise you are now standing on a plain before a
hill and on the top of the hill is a temple. Hold this is visualisation, for this is the temple of the heart.
3/ Now climbed the hill, mount the steps of the temple and enter the centre doorway. Observe the
appearance of the temple. Is it well-kept, swept and clean? Or is it covered with dust?
4/ Walk into the dimly lit interior and approach the central adytum. As you drawn near you observe
a ickering light within. The ame grows brighter as you approach and you can see it swell and
recede rhythmically in the bowl like depression in the centre of the room.
5/ Gaze upon this ame. Send it to your energies. See it respond and grow bright and strong as it
reaches up to touch the ceiling 40 feet above. You are feeding the ame of your heart. You are
stimulating it to growth. Breath deeply and realise in the depths of your being that your heart centre
is coming alive.
6/ Open your eyes and sit in quite meditation for ve minutes before raising and terminating the
exercise.

Preformed this exercise once a week but never more than twice a week at rst.

Mantras

-The sound ra (pronounced rah), if intoned loudly and fully for nine times in succession, will
bring a noticeable increase in physical energy.
-The sound ma, if in toned nine successive times on the same note and in the same manner, will
produce a warm, comfortable physical feeling, a feeling of being nourished and cared for.
-The sound ra-ma affects all the sacred psychic centres but it has its greatest effect upon the
pituitary gland and the corresponding portion of the head centre.
-Another very powerful mantram is the combination A-U-M. This is usually intoned as one sound
aum and as a rule the note of D above middle C is preferred. Like the combination ra-ma, it has
a benecial effect on the physical body and upon all the higher psychic centres. However, it has a
particularly powerful inuence on the pineal gland and that portion of the head centre for which it is
the physical doorway.
-Tho, pronounced Throw without the r. Emphasis is places on the th sound and is carried for
one-half the total duration of the entire mantram. Repeat 3 or 7 times. It affects the throat centre
and its corresponding gland, the thyroid.
-Ehm, pronounced like aim. It affects the thymus gland and has benecial inuence upon the
heart centre.
-Meh, like met but with an h ending rather than a t. The h is aspirated with emphasis as the
sound is intoned, usually on middle C. This has a soothing effect on the physical nervous system
and a stirring inuence on the heart centre.
-Err, pronounced urr where the rr is sustained at the end. Helpful in clearing an upset or
chaotic condition in the mind or emotions and should be used for that purpose. Physically, the
sound will often create ripples upon a glass of water. Psychically, it has the same regulating effect
and will aid the advanced student control the psychic energy at his command.

It is safest and best to develop the heart centre rst. This can be done by turning your attention to
your hearts, by visualising energy owing into and surrounding the heart, by seeing that energy
vibrating as a shining pink cloud (a visualisation) and by intoning the various mantra that stimulate
the heart centre.

Mantram. Sit comfortably with your feet at on the oor, your spine straight and your head erect.
Intone the following mantram seven times without pausing. Do not vary the tone.
RA-MEH-RA-MA-RA-MEH.

Colour plus mantram. Sit as indicated before. Visualise at pink cloud around your body at the
level of the heart. See the clouds pulsate in rhythm with your hearts beat. Intone softly:
U-U-U-U-U-UUUMM. Pronounced ooh.
Do this three times. The intonations should coincide with the visualisation of the pink cloud.

Energy ow. Visualise a white cloud of vibrant energy over your head. In the cloud should be very
white, like sunlight on a newly fallen snow. Know that this cloud is composed of vital primary
energy of the highest sort. Then, by an act of the will, bring the cloud down into your heart, entering
the body at the left of the spinal column between the shoulder blades.
