With the discovery of the steam machine the first great step was taken
when Joseph Cannot in 1769, presented his invention a car impelled by a
steam machine. The age of cars began in 1862 when a Frenchman called
Etienne Lenoir invented a machine that worked with the matured of air and
fuel.
The process of the development of the cars was formed with the invention
of a rubber tire made by Dunlop in 1890. Bosh discovered the spark plug
this gave bigger power to the motor. The north American Henry Ford was
able to increase the speed of the cars, improved the external form and he
began to produce a cheap car, de model T. at the beginning only rich
people could buy this car, but then he introduced the mass production that
reduced the cost.
The German Engineer Rudolf Diesel in 1897 invented a diesel motor, this
motor had bigger power and it was used in heavy vehicles. Today there are
more than 500 million cars in the world and over 50 million are produced
each year worldwide.

The oldest known writing in the word is on a tablet of limestone found in
Mesopotamia (present day Iraq). It is 5500 years old, at first, men used
rough tools to make marks and symbols on the walls of caves and on rocks.
Then he used primitive paints to draw on the walls, on hides, trees bark,
and pottery. The pictures represented ideas, and a single symbol often
represented complete sentences.
Early Europeans wrote on lambskin or sheepskin. But that was expensive
and required much animals skin. Then they brought paper from China to
write on.

EARLY INVENTORS
The very first inventors made hand tools to help them cut up food and
carve wood. Early people made very important discoveries such as how to
make fire and how to work with metal. And invented the wheel and the
plough. These developments changed the way people lived and led to many
other discoveries and inventions.
The invention of the wheel, the wheel was first used about 5.500 years ago
in Mesopotamia, a region of southwest Asia. The first wheels were made in
three wooden sections that were joined together. Spoked wheels were
invented later, in Roman times.

CARS
The first cars were invented around 1900. And that led to the invention of
trucks, trains, buses, and the wheels on airplanes. The first kind of car was
called the the horseless carriage. The word automobile means
something that runs by it. Riding in an early car was a real adventure.
The auto was started by turning a crank outside on the front of the car. As
the engine coughed and popped, the driver jumped into the car, moved
handles and pedals, and the car roared on its way, scaring people and
horses on its way. Once started, it could sometimes travel at the frightening
speed of tweny miles an hour.

For over of thousands of years the Chinese invented the abacus, little
progress was made to automate counting and mathematics. The Greeks
came up with numerous mathematical formulae and theorems, but the
entire newly discovered math had to be worked out by hand. A
mathematician was often a person who sat in the back room of a business
with several others and they all worked on the same problem.
Most of the tables of integrals, logarithms, and trigonometric values were
worked out this way, their accuracy unchecked until machines could
generate the tables in far less time and with more accuracy than a team of
humans. The computer is the result of many centuries of work, until the
technology and social needs of these last decades have made it possible.

LIVING ELECTRICITY
Our body uses electricity all the time. Our heart produces tiny amount of
electricity to help it beat properly. Your brain is receiving and sending
electrical messages to every part of our body.
All animals bodies produce electricity and some even use it as a weapon.
Do you know something about the electric eel? The electric eel lives
mainly in the Amazon and Orinoco rivers of South America. This eel is a
fish and it makes its own electricity to help it to catch food and as a
protection against enemies. The eels body produces enough electricity to
light up 20 light bulbs!

The computer
A computer is a machine capable of doing and controlling very fast
calculations and complicated processes which requires quick decision
making. It is often called the electronic brain the computer is capable of
verifying the results obtained, according to the elements of control found in
its structure and programming.
The function of the computer is to handle information it receives, and to
provide required results.
A computer must be programmed by us to do what we want it to do. Once
programmed, a computer is capable of doing mechanical tasks such as read
data, compare or examine and transmit it to other machines, receive other
information, and register it all in its memory.
