1.0 Introduction Basaveshwar Engineering College (BEC) is a premier technical institute located in northern part of Karnataka on a scenic stretch of land spread over 184 acres in the new township of Bagalkot. Basaveshwar Veerashaiva Vidyavardhak Sangha (BVVS) started the college in 1963, as a private college, offering three UG programs and came into government grant in-aid code from 1968. The student intake has grown to about 1100 and the total student strength on campus is about 4200. Buildings with adequate amenities of nearly 45,000 sq.m is being built and about 1200 state-of-the-art computers are networked through 20 Gbps backbone fiber network. The campus is WiFi enabled, with 20 Mbps internet connectivity. The network facility on the campus is upgraded under TEQIP - II, with an investment of 45 lakhs. Library is equipped 1,00,000+ volumes and around 50,000 titles. Quality teaching-learning processes are emphasized by the highly qualified faculty with 50 plus Doctorates and 150 plus Post-graduates and delighted student community. The proactive core research activities have helped in securing research grants to the tune of 1.7 crore in the past three years. In 2004, the college was selected under TEQIP-I (Rs. 15 crore grant) & TEQIP-II in 2011 (Rs. 12.5 crores) and gained autonomy and permanent affiliation to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, in 2007. Presently, the college offers 10 undergraduate and 8 postgraduate programs in Engineering, MCA and MBA programs in addition. Also, Eight departments have been recognized as research centers by VTU to offer Ph.D and M.Sc in Engineerig (by research) programs. In a period of ten years (2003-2013) 70 plus scholars have registered for Ph.D programs and 30 plus scholars have been awarded the doctorate degree. The college persistently works for national development by producing high quality technical graduates and proactively contributes to socially relevant technological services. Over the years, the college has emerged as one of the leading technical educational institutions due to the valuable contributions of its alumni who hold key positions in government, industrial and business organizations across the globe. The feedback from the alumni and employers has been good and the college has made a remarkable progress using the constructive feedback from all the stakeholders. Vision To be recognized as a premier technical institute committed to developing exemplary professionals, offering research based innovative solutions and inspiring inventions for holistic socio economic development

At present, a need is felt for collaboration between the industry and institution for their mutual benefit and also progressive development of the nation. Hence, this proposal is to explore the possibilities of a MoU between the aspirant industries and institute to carry out the objectives set forth in the proposal. In lieu of this a centre of excellence can be setup with the matching grant from the industry and institute on a sharing base. BOSH Rexroth, Bangalore and NOKIA have set up their CoE in our institute campus and are functioning effectively.
