Course Description*
The course is an introduction to the key political and governmental institutions of
the Republic of the Philippines Classes are conducted, to the e!tent possible "ithout
sacrificing direction and focus, in a participatory and interactive manner #iscussion
points and guide $uestions are provided that highlight of important substantive parts of
the topics Students are e!pected to come to class prepared to recite and discuss them
%ectures are provided only as supplement and to introduce materials not covered by
readings and to synthesi&e and process them 'ethodology used in this course is
descriptive and critical evaluative approaches

A. eneral*
To provide the students citi&enship education through the study of Philippine
politics, government and constitution(
To study the dynamics of the Philippines as a democratic and republican
government
To help students to understand and appreciate the )*+, Constitution as the
fundamental charter of the land( and
To enable the students formulate their o"n perspectives and responses to the
pressing issues of the times

Cognitive:
a #escribe the key concepts, issues, theory and methodology of Political
Science
b -scertain the vital concepts of the Philippine Constitution
Affective:
a -ppropriately and analytically employ these concepts in e!plaining and
understanding political developments, events and issues
b -pprise the constitutional rights of every .ilipino and the responsibilities it
entails
Psychomotor:
a #evelop critical thinking via understanding the key methodologies of
Political Science
b #emonstrate the values of critical and active citi&enship in a democratic
system
Course "e0uirements*

- total of four /01 major e!ams shall be taken during the semester(
The coverage of the e!ams shall be announced in due time(

Classroom attendance is taken "hen the instructor arrives in the classroom(
9alues .ormation and Character points is discretionary of the instructor(
Classroom "ules and "egulations
Students are only allo"ed to have: si! /;1 absences for '<. = )> hour class
and four /01 absences for TT? )@ hour class(
Students are marked tardy or late "hen they arrived the classroom after the
attendance7checking is made(
-rrival of students during the attendance7checking is not yet considered tardy
or late(
Thus, if students incur more than of "hat is allo"ed in absences and
tardiness "ill be dropped from the list(
There are no make7up $ui&&es missed either due to absence or tardiness(
- Special 2!am "ill only be given if a student is hospitali&ed, and be re$uired
to furnish a medical certificate and a doctor6s prescription attached to a formal
letter of e!cuse(
'obile phones and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited during
e!ams(
