ADDING A PHONE TO CALL MANAGER 6:

=================================
You can add phones to call manager by three different ways
1)Auto register tool
2)Manually adding the phone
3)BAT
DEVICE POOL:
============
Device pool should be created before adding a phone
IP phones have a number of criteria that needs to be assigned for e.g Time zone,
codec, Call managers etc. The device pool groups the configuration into single
assignment.
creating the device pool-->CM administration--->system-->device pool-->add new
For creating the device pool follwing things are needed:
========================================================
1)cisco call amanger group:
its the group of call managers that the device can register. There are three cal
l managers primary, secondary, tertiary.
Creation of Call manager group:
-------------------------------
CM admin-->system-->Cisco unified CM group--->if u want to add the subscriber to
the group u can add it here.
There is option under the Cisco Unified group-->auto registration-->This if chec
ked-->The devices that are made to register automatically->come under this group
.
2)Date & Time Zone group:
System--->Add date & time zone
3)Region: What codec the device under the pool use. system---> Region---> add ne
w
for e.g there are three regions u have created arizona, texas, california
Arizona calling Arizona region should use the codec --->g711u
Arizona calling Texas ---->g729
Arizona calling California ---->g729
You can assign this type of setting when u created the region.
4)soft key template:( not found in new CM)(device--->device settings--->soft key
template
u can disable the buttons on the cisco phone.
select the copy and then rename one of the soft key template.
There are several call states displayed like ringing, connected, on hold. The ph
one will display the transfer or callfwrd option corresponding to a key
when the call is on hold u can dictate what is that to be shown corresponding to
the keys.
5)survivable remote site telephony(SRST)
The SRST should be created and assigned the IP address
MANUALLY ADDING THE PHONE:
==========================
1)Device -->phone-->Add phone-->select model-->select the protocol
AUTO REGISTER MODE:
===================
CCM hands over the extension numbers to the phone like the DHCP server giving th
e ip adress.
Below is the link where u set the starting extension that should be handed over
the phone and also has setting for disabling the auto registration.
select the System menu--->Cisco Unified CM--> starting directory Number.
NOTE:Also check the setting in Cisco unified CM group (system-->Cisco unified Gr
oup). if any group checked with the option Auto-registration Cisco Unified Commu
nications Manager Group then the phones which auto registeres is assigned to the
group.
Sytem menu---->Enterprise parameters configuration---->Auto Registration Phone P
rotocol Required Field-->here u can change the protocol
Device--->Device settings-->device defaults-->here u can assign the device pool
BAT(Bulk Administartion Tool):
==============================
Bulk administration--->upload and download Files--> download the bat.xlt
Add the phones in the in the file and save it as a e.g phones.txt text file-->Bu
lk adminstartion-->upload the file phones.text
Then go the Bulk admin-->phones-->insert phones-->assign the file u uploaded and
check the phones are inserted in JOB sheduler.
Adding a phone manually:
========================
Built In Bridge:Enable or disable the built-in conference bridge for the barge f
eature by using the Built In Bridge drop-down list box
Privacy:For each phone that wants Privacy, choose On in the Privacy drop-down li
st box.
Owner User ID:From the drop-down list box, choose the user ID of the assigned ph
one user. The user ID gets recorded in the call detail record (CDR) for all call
s made from this device. do no use when configuration of device mobility.
Primary Phone: Choose the physical phone that will be associated with the applic
ation (such as IP communicator or CUPC)
AAR Group:
----------
Choose the automated alternate routing (AAR) group for this device. The AAR grou
p provides the prefix digits that are used to route calls that are otherwise blo
cked due to insufficient bandwidth.
If no AAR group is specified, Cisco Unified Communications Manager uses the AAR
group that is associated with Device Pool or Line.
Phone Load name: Enter the custom software for the Cisco Unified IP Phone.The va
lue that you enter overrides the default value for the current model.
Allow control of device from CTI:
Logged into hunt group: indicates that the phone is currently logged in to a hun
t list (group).When the phone gets added to a hunt list, the administrator can l
og the user in or out by checking (and unchecking) this
check box.
Remote device:Checking this check box tells Cisco Unified Communications Manager
to allocate a buffer for the phone device when it registers and to bundle SCCP
messages to the phone.Be sure to check this box only when you are experiencing s
ignaling delays for SCCP phones.
MOH Settings:
-------------
The settings Network Hold MOH audio source and other will be there in the Device
pool and in the individual phone configuration.
If you do not choose an audio source, Cisco Unified Communications Manager uses
the audio source that is defined in the device pool or the system default if the
device pool does not specify an audio source ID.
Network Hold MOH Audio Source: Selects the audio that Cisco CallManager should p
lay when a user presses the Transfer or Conference button on the Cisco IP Phone.
User Hold MOH Audio Source: Selects the audio that Cisco CallManager should play
when a user presses the Hold button on the Cisco IP Phone.
User Locale: Defines the language that the device uses.
Retry Video Call as Audio: This check box applies only to video endpoints that
receive a call. If this phone receives a call that does not connect as video, th
e call tries to connect as an audio call. When the
option is unchecked -->video call that fails to connect as video does not try t
o establish as an audio call
Ignore Presentation Indicators (internal calls only): Check this check box to co
nfigure call display restrictions on a call-by-call basis.When this check box is
checked, Cisco Unified Communications Manager ignores any presentation restrict
ion that is received for internal calls.
Translation pattern:
====================
Calling Line ID/Name Presentation: This is the Caller ID /Name that shows up at
the destination phone while the phone is ringing and connected
Connected Line ID/Name Presentation: This is the Caller ID /Name that is display
ed at the source phone while the destination phone is ringing and connected.
To override the settings at the translation pattern, check the Ignore Presentatio
n Indicators (internal calls only) at the phone. When this is enabled, it will ov
erride the Connected Line ID/Name at the source phone and Calling line ID/Name a
t the destination phone.
Packet capture settings in the phone:
-------------------------------------
Packet Capture Mode: None indicates no packet capturing is occuring. After u cap
ture the packets u should keep as none.
LINE CONFIGURATION OF A PHONE:
==============================
Call Pickup Group:
Presence Group:The selected group specifies the devices, end users, and applicat
ion users that can monitor this directory number.
Line Settings for All Devices
-----------------------------
Display (Internal Caller ID): Theaj Kumar
-------------------------------------------
When u are calling internally then the user called will get the name Theaj Kumar
.
Alerting Name: When given as Theaj Kumar for extension 1001 then the person call
ing 1001 will get as alert name as To Theaj Kumar(1001)
Hold Reversion Ring Duration :Enter a number from 0 to 1200 (inclusive) to speci
fy the wait time in seconds before issuing a reverted call alert to the holding
party phone.
Hold Reversion Notification Interval : Enter a number from 0 to 1200 (inclusive)
to specify the interval time in seconds for sending periodic reminder alerts to
the holding party phone.
Display (Internal Caller ID):
ASCII Display (Internal Caller ID):you must limit input to ASCII characters and
Devices that do not support Unicode (internationalized) characters display the c
ontent of the ASCII Display.
Line Text Label: Use this field only if you do not want the directory number to
show on the line appearance
. Enter text that identifies this directory number for a line/phone combination.
External Phone Number Mask: if you specify a mask of 972813XXXX, an external cal
l from extension 1234 displays a caller ID number of 9728131234
Visual Message Waiting Indicator Policy: Use this field to configure the handset
lamp illumination policy
Ring Setting (Phone Idle):This field to configure the ring setting for the line
appearance when an incoming call is received and no other active calls exist on
that device
Ring Setting (Phone Active):the ring setting that is used when this phone has an
other active call on a different line
Call Pickup Group Audio Alert Setting (Phone Idle):field determines the type of
notification an incoming call sends to members of a call pickup group. If the ca
lled phone does not answer, the phones in the call pickup group that are idle wi
ll either hear a short ring (ring once) or hear nothing (disabled).
Call Pickup Group Audio Alert Setting (Phone Active): determines the type of not
ification an incoming call sends to members of a call pickup group. If the calle
d phone does not answer, the phones in the call pickup group that are busy will
either hear a beep (beep beep) or hear nothing (disabled)
Multiple Call/Call Waiting Settings on Device:
e.g :If maximum number of calls is set for 50 and the busy trigger is set to 40,
incoming call 41 gets rejected with a busy cause (and will get forwarded if Cal
l Forward Busy is set). If this line is shared, all the lines must be busy befor
e incoming calls get rejected.
Forwarded Call Information Display on Device [device name]:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Caller Name ---> Checking this check box will cause the caller name to display
upon call forward.
Caller Number----> Checking this check box will cause the caller number to displ
ay upon call forward.
Dialed Number ---->Checking this check box will cause the original dialed number
to display upon call forward.
