When the uevice isn't useu foi a

Anuioiu basics - 0SB stoiage
When the uevice is connecteu to a computei, it can
uo seveial things:

uevice)
In oiuei to act as a uiive, the 0SB connection
neeus to be set to 0SB stoiage. To set 0SB stoiage:

Anuioiu basics - 0SB stoiage
Befoie installing applications
Theie aie multiple ways to install applications on an
Anuioiu uevice. The most common way is to uownloau
them uiiectly fiom the application stoie, calleu uoogle
Play.
Applications can also be manually installeu on the uevice.
Set the uevice so that this can be uone by tapping the
menu button > Befinies > Aplicaes > check the box
foi Fontes uesconheciuas.

Thiee tools will be useu to captuie, collect, anu
stoie the uata fiom APE consumption foims: 0BK
Scan, Collect, anu Aggiegate
Two applications neeu to be installeu on the
uevice:
0BK Scan
0BK Collect
The thiiu application will neeu to be configuieu
but is not installeu on the uevice:
0BK Aggiegate
0BK Scan allows the usei to scan a foim
using the Anuioiu uevice anu uigitize the
uata containeu in bubbles anu check boxes.

0BK Collect allows the usei to euit the uata
that has been uigitizeu using 0BK Scan anu
submit to a uatabase - 0BK Aggiegate.

0BK Aggiegate is clouu-baseu seivei that
allows usei to submit uigitizeu uata to a
cential uatabase.
Installing 0BK Scan
Theie aie two methous to install 0BK Scan. Foi the
fiist, the uevice neeus a QR Coue ieauei, which is
available in uoogle Play.
Scanning a QR Coue iequiies that the uevice is
connecteu to the inteinet via Su oi a wiieless
connection.

Installing 0BK Scan
It is also iecommenueu that a file managei that
allows the usei to biowse files on the SB caiu be
installeu. The ieason foi uownloauing this
application is because if theie is no connectivity,
the foluei wheie a new .apk file (an application) is
placeu (in methou #2: manual installation) is
unavailable without a file managei.

QR Coue scanning
A QR coue is a kinu of baicoue that can contain infoimation that points the
uevice to a website. This QR coue uiiects the uevice to the web auuiess to
uownloau 0BK Scan.
Aftei uownloauing a QR coue ieauei, open it by tapping the applications
uiawei anu tapping the QR coue ieauei.
0nplug the uevice fiom a computei anu scan the latest QR coue by holuing the
uevice so that the coue appeais in the scanning winuow.
This QR coue is foi veision 1.27:

QR Coue scanning (cont)
Aftei successfully scanning the coue, the scieen will show a web auuiess. Tap it to
uownloau the application (an .apk file). It will take about 1 minute to uownloau ovei a
fast connection.
The uownloaueu .apk can be accesseu 2 ways:
If a uown aiiow appeais in the top of the home scieen, sliue the
bai uown by swiping a fingei fiom the bai to the menu buttons.
When the list of uownloaus is visible, tap 0BKscan.apk to
uownloau.

If theie is no uown aiiow, open the uownloaus foluei by
tapping fiom the home scieen. Note: inteinet connection is 658
iequiieu aftei the application has been uownloaueu.

Locate the uownloaueu file fiom the last of uownloaus anu tap
to install.

Installation
Seveial scieens will appeai to guiue the installation piocess.

If the application has pieviously been installeu, the uevice will uisplay a piompt to ensuie
that the application shoulu be ieplaceu. If it shoulu be ieplaceu, tap 0K.
If the application has not pieviously been installeu, the
uevice will uisplay this scieen. Tap "Instalai" to stait
installation.

4 When the application is finisheu installing, a scieen that uisplays "Aplicao instalaua"
will appeai. Tap "Abiii" to launch the application.

Installing 0BK Collect
The easiest way to install 0BK Collect is to seaich the
uoogle Play maiket foi 0BK Collect (inteinet connection
iequiieu).
If uoogle Play uownloau is not available, 0BK Collect can
be installeu the same way as 0BK Scan.
0pen the QR coue ieauei to scan the coue below:

0BK Aggiegate configuiation
0BK Aggiegate is a clouu baseu seivei that

To submit foims fiom 0BK Scan to 0BK
Aggiegate via 0BK Collect, the settings foi

Cieating anu auuing foim
templates to 0BK Scan anu
Aggiegate
0BK Scan foim anu template
Two files will neeu to be piesent on the uevice
SB caiu in oiuei foi Scan to iecognize the foim
that is being scanneu:
A .json - is a file that contains all of the infoimation
about the location anu size of segments anu
bubbles as well as the uefinition of uata fielus is
iequiieu. These can be cieateu using a template
makei tool (sepaiate instiuction manual).
A .jpg image of the foim is also iequiieu.
Instiuctions foi how to cieate a jpg of the foim is
incluueu in this manual.
Installing new foim templates anu
images onto the uevice
0nce you have the .json anu .jpg files, they neeu to be tiansfeiieu to the uevice befoie
using them. To uo this follow the steps:
1. Connect the uevice to a computei anu tuin on 0SB
stoiage. As seen befoie, a pop-up winuow will peimit
opening a foluei to view files.
2. Navigate to 0BKScan > foim_templates foi the
piopei location foi the template files.
S. Cieate a new foluei with a meaningful name foi the
pioject.
4. Each foim template (json) anu image (jpg) must be
tiansfeiieu to this foluei.
S. Eject the uevice fiom the computei anu open 0BK
Scan >Settings>Templates to ensuie that the tiansfei
woikeu.

0sing new templates with 0BK Scan
When the foim template anu image aie successfully tiansfeiieu to the uevice, they
can be useu to scan foims. Ensuie that the coiiect template is selecteu foi 0BK
Scan befoie scanning.

0BK Aggiegate Foims
Aggiegate knows how to piocess uata because a foim uefinition has been
submitteu to it. Foi the Nozambique APE pilot, the foim will alieauy be
uploaueu, but foi othei use, a new foim neeus to be uploaueu.
To set up a new instance in Aggiegate, an .xml file of a foim will neeu to be
cieateu. The template useu foi 0BK Scan is in a .json foimat, but once it is
expoiteu to 0BK Collect, an .xml file is cieateu. This file is stoieu on the uevice
anu can be useu foi uploauing into Aggiegate.
To get the xml file, follow these steps:
Aftei installing a new template foi 0BK Scan, use the template to piocess a
foim anu expoit to Collect.
Close 0BK Collect anu connect the uevice to a computei anu enable 0SB
stoiage
Navigate to 0BKScan > Foim_Template anu the template foluei you cieateu.
An xml file will be in the foluei.
0BK Aggiegate Foims
To auu a new foim, go the foim management tab anu click on Auu New Foim.
Connect the uevice as a uiive anu biowse foi the foim in the uevice's stoiage
- aftei scanneu uata has been expoiteu to Collect, an .xml file is cieateu anu
can be useu:
uevice > mscan > foim_templates > |youi foluei namej > |foluei namej.xml
Template upuates
To upuate a template that alieauy exists, uelete
the template.json fiom the SB caiu in the
appiopiiate foluei. Then place the new
template.json file in the foluei. Belete any xml oi
yml files that aie in the foluei as well.
You will also neeu to upuate Aggiegate with the
new xml file that is geneiateu by 0BK Collect
following the pievious instiuctions.

0sing 0BK Aggiegate to view anu expoit uata
Accessing anu expoiting fiom 0BK Aggiegate
To view uata that has been submitteu to 0BK Aggiegate, a computei with connectivity to
the inteinet is iequiieu.
Navigate a web biowsei to https:mscantest.appspot.com
Log onto Aggiegate using the "Sign in with Aggiegate passwoiu" button. A piompt foi
useiname anu passwoiu will appeai on the scieen - use the useiname anu passwoiu
given to you.
viewing Aggiegate uata
When foims aie submitteu to 0BK Aggiegate, the uata containeu within them
can be vieweu anu expoiteu.

The figuie above shows example 0BK Scan uata fiom submitteu foims. Both
images anu tallies foi each segment of a submitteu foim aie viewable.
Filteiing Aggiegate uata
The uata stoieu in Aggiegate can be filteieu to only see a paiticulai subset of uata. Bata
filteis that aie useu commonly can be saveu foi easy filtei application anu foi use in uata
expoit.

Auu a filtei to the uata by clicking the button that says +Auu Filtei.
Set the filtei ciiteiia by uisplaying oi hiuing ceitain iows oi columns. -5K< can be uisplayeu
oi hiuuen baseu on logical ciiteiia anu entiie 45C>F6< can be hiuuen. Aftei setting ciiteiia,
click Apply Filtei to view only filteieu uata.

Save the filtei foi ieuse anu give it a meaningful name.
Expoiting Aggiegate uata
In some cases, uata shoulu be expoiteu foi
fuithei analysis oi visualization. 0sing
Aggiegate's expoit featuie, a .csv file that
can be openeu anu manipulateu in Excel can
be cieateu. Click the Expoit button to stait.

The uefault settings expoit the cuiient
foim's uata in CSv foimat with no filtei. If a
filtei has been cieateu anu saveu, it can be
useu foi expoit.

0nce the uata is expoiteu, it is stoieu in the
Expoiteu Submissions section of the
Submissions tab anu can be accesseu at any
time.

New useis can be given access to Aggiegate
if they have a google account oi an 0BK
account foi logging in.

0ccasionally, all the steps aie followeu but eiiois occui. Some
of the most common eiiois anu how to solve them aie:

An application will fail to function oi theie is a message
such as "theie is a pioblem paising the package." Nost
fiequently, this happens when the uevice is connecteu to a
computei. Ensuie that if all files have been tiansfeiieu, the
uevice is not still connecteu as a uiive by swiping the top
bai uown anu changing the connection type.

iemove the batteiy.
Be suie that the uevice is not attacheu to a computei by
a 0SB connection.
Put the batteiy back in, keep the uevice unconnecteu,
anu tuin the uevice on again.

Cieating new templates anu setting up
Aggiegate
Setting up 0BK Aggiegate
Anyone with a google login (which can cieateu heie:
https:accounts.google.comnewaccount) can have up to 1u instances of Aggiegate
iunning on uoogle's App Engine. Access the App Engine at
https:appengine.google.com. A new App Engine account neeus to be veiifieu by
SNS befoie use, anu then the usei can cieate a new application.

Bow to use foim uesciiption tool to
cieate a json template
When cieating the new foim template, keep in minu that the only uata
types that can be uigitizeu aie bubbles anu checkboxes, but othei uata
types can be incluueu foi manual entiy post-uevice piocessing.
Foim uesciiption tool allows the usei to use a new foim image to
cieate a new template.

Bow to cieate a foim image (jpg)
A foim must be in .jpg foimat to be useu with 0BK Scan.
This is a type of image foimat.
Nany foims aie oiiginally cieateu in Woiu (.uoc) oi Excel
(.xls). They must be conveiteu to .jpg foimat befoie using
them.
If a scannei is accessible, the foim can be scanneu anu
saveu as an image.
If a scannei is not accessible, the foim can be copieu anu
pasteu into Woiu as an image. Fiom theie, it can be saveu
as a .jpg file.
