Dassault/Breguet-Domier Alpha Jet (Two
2,3001b SNECMA/ Tur bomeca Larzac t urbo-
fans). One of the t wo Fr anco- Ger man
projects for these count ri es' joint require-
ment for 400 Magister replacements. As with
the E.650, the cockpit layout is in line with
moder n supersonic types. The Al pha Jet
has a modestly swept shoulder wing, low
tail and engines mount ed on the fuselage
sides. If ordered, the first flight would be
May 1972. An elaborate full-scale mock-up
has been built. Span, 29ft 7i n; length,

rocket booster optional). The "s t andar d"
Mirage III interceptor is in service with the
Armee de l' Air. and has been used as
the basis for a large number of single- and
two-seat variants. By January this year 919
Mi rages had been ordered, 495 being
exported t o (or manufact ured in) nine
countries. Israel received 72 Mi rage III-CJ.
Sout h Africa 16 -CZ and three two-seat
- DZ and two squadrons of - EZ; the Swiss
built 34 -8 and the Australians 98 -0. Span.

place of Cyr ano radar. The Armee de l' Air
ordered 80 in 1963, t ot al orders with exports

2. 2; endurance, maxi mum fuel, 3.7hr.

Dassault Mirage S (One 9,4351b Snecma
At ar 9C turbojet developing 13,6701b with
afterburning). The Mi rage 5 is an export
version of the HI E intercepter, optimised for
ground at t ack. Israel has ordered 50, but
was refused delivery. Peru has 12, 88 go
to Belgium, a further 54 will be delivered to
Iraq in 1970 and Li bya has ordered 100.
