Hayley: Secretary- It has been a goal of mine to help Bartlett High School become a better

place since the first day of freshman year when I started my journey here. It has been my intent
to become a respected leader and diligent student. If I am elected as the Secretary of NHS, I
have many ideas for improvement and growth for the entire study body of BHS. As past
Secretary and current Vice-President of Student Council as well as President of B-unit, I feel I
have many leadership qualities that will help me be a successful officer of NHS, including
reliability, excellent communication skills and the ability to follow through. I believe that NHS
needs to become a more unified environment for all of the members, both new and veteran. I
would like to hold activities during the school year that all NHS members can participate in,
including some social events and some service projects. I would like to hold a fundraiser in
which all members vote on the cause and all members actively participate in the event. I believe
fun events like this would improve NHS and allow all of the members to get to know each other
on a more personal level. I think I would make a great secretary because I understand the
importance of quick and accurate communication. I know many of you are very busy and have
schedules that fill up rapidly. I will convey all of the information and service opportunities to
you as soon as I am aware of them. I am also very committed to everything I do and will gladly
take on all responsibilities that are handed to me. I am always eager to face new challenges. I
know that having a leadership position is a huge responsibility that, when handled well, can
positively affect our organization, but when handled poorly, could adversely impact all that we
hope to achieve. I believe my being Secretary will positively impact the organization. I believe I
am the best choice for secretary because of my prior experience, my desire for improvement, and
my many leadership qualities. If you vote for me, next year should be a great year!
Nick: Historian- Hello NHS! Nick Petrelli here calling out for your support towards my
campaign as your 2013 historian. As I am completely ecstatic, humbled, and grateful for such an
opportunity, I only ask for you to believe in me as I will believe in myself. Bartlett's National
Honors Society needs and deserves a positive and dedicated historian who will carry out their
duties with pride, responsibility, and care. NHS needs a person who will diligently document the
wonderful activities that our organization participates in. If this is the kind of historian you want,
then I'm your man!
Christina: Vice-President- As we all know, being accepted into NHS is an outstanding
achievement, and we wouldn't want to let any of it go to waste. I want everyone to keep up all
the good work they have been doing this year into next year. As Vice-president, I would make
NHS a more fun, exciting, and helpful club. Helping people is second nature to me. It isn't just
helping people but helping the community as a whole and helping the environment. Most people
knew me as the "trash girl" in the beginning of the year, because after every football game i
would walk along the fence and pick up all the garbage on the ground. Soon I started to walk
outside of the fence and help the rest of the parents clean up so they could get home faster. I
didn't do it because I got an award of any kind, i did it because i take the initiative to help and
make a difference. Which is something i will do for all NHS members, I will take the initiative to
help you and the incoming juniors next year with anything you would need so you can reach
your goals and your full potential. Being the secretary of B-Unit and Co-president of F.A.C.E.
club, i know how to keep everything organized and how to keep the club members motivated.
Along with the help i will give to you all, I want to start off next year ,after induction, with
a breakfast before school for all members to attend. I am going to organize a numerous amount
of events for members only to help us get closer and show everyone what our club is all about.
What NHS needs is good leaders, and i know that i can fill that need. I know that if we all get
together we can make a big difference. So lets have an NHS outing a couple times a year, get to
know each other better, and lets be heard. Let us all be know as the best group of kids that BHS
and NHS has ever had. Lets make a statement. Lets lead the juniors and show them how
rewarding our services are, and hope to bring out the best in them. And i hope i will bring out the
best in all of you. So vote for me, Christina Kindle, for Vice-president, and we will achieve
anything we put our mind to! Thank you.
Riannon: President- I feel that I have many qualifications and characteristics that would
make me a great fit for president of NHS. I have many previous leadership skills and
qualifications that would allow me to make NHS better for you all and the school. We need a
strong leader in order to keep this club running and people involved. Communication and
organization are key in having NHS enjoyable for all.
I have been involved in a lot at BHS that makes me a great candidate for president. I am
currently president of Student Council and Future Teachers Club. I solely run FTC and work
hard to do anything that needs to be accomplished in Student Council. I am also involved in class
council which allows me to be close with the junior class. I am in B-unit so I have respect and a
sense of pride for BHS. I was chosen to be on principal student advisory board as well as a peer
leader. Also, I attended a leadership conference that I was chosen for by my counselor.
Besides my activities in school, I am involved in honors and AP classes as well as
enrolled for next year. I challenge myself and manage a high grade point average. I am a
perfectionist and always try to do my best with whatever comes my way. I also have a job
outside of school which teaches me responsibility. The fact that I want to be a teacher further
helps because it teaches me how to be in charge of a large group and run things with the help of
officers.
For next year, I would like to do more service projects that involve everyone. An
example of this would be everyone participating in Relay for Life or a 5K that the elementary
schools hold, even if Bartlett could have one. I would love to get activities that you all would
enjoy doing involved in our community service projects so we show how great BHS is and how
amazing our students are. I will always keep everyone involved and update everyone on events
or meetings. We can even get together with other clubs activities to help out the school
community.
Even though I already have a lot of responsibilities, I know I would make NHS better for
everyone. I have a great sense of time management and I will always work to get whatever needs
to be done so that everyone benefits and enjoys NHS. I know that I have time and Im willing to
put in the effort to do anything that pleases the students. I will strive to be the best leader and do
whatever needs to be done for you all that makes you happiest with NHS.

Natalie: Vice President- CALLING ALL NATIONAL HONORS SOCIETY JUNIOR
MEMBERS: Do you want your senior year in NHS to be the best year in NHS you have ever had
in your life? Do you want to be friends with everyone in NHS including the people who sit on
the other side of the auditorium as you? Do you enjoy giving smiley-face stickers to people?
Well then, youre in luck! Vote for Natalie Rose Hilvert for your Vice President and you will be
on your way to a fantastic year.
I have always had the desire to lead. I take pride in having a positive influence on a
group of people whether the group is big or small. I currently am Treasurer of the BHS Drama
Club and I have gone to the Rotary Youth Leadership awards twice. As a candidate for Vice
President of NHS, I will bring passion, commitment, and, of course, service. Due to my interest
in the future of NHS, I will always set a good example and perform every duty to my fullest.
The National Honors Society deserves officers who are committed and I am up to the task!
While getting the job done, I would also be engaged in improving an already flourishing
organization. I would love to implement more activities NHS can do as a group. In order to
spread cohesiveness within our community, we must all come together as an organization first.
NHS is all about small acts of kindness that make the world a better place. Whether its a large-
scale community service opportunity or simply just helping someone carry their books to class,
we NHS members should constantly be striving to make not just our school, but our community
at large a better place. As NHS Vice President, I would promote simple acts of kindness around
the school, even if its just minute things like handing out smiley face stickers to students when
they look upset. It only takes a little bit of effort to make a big impact on someone. I want to
make a difference. I want to make a difference in NHS; I want to make a difference at Bartlett
High School; I want to make a difference in Illinois! NHS is easily one of the most impactful
organizations here at Bartlett High School. If I could influence the acts of NHS, it would be such
a rewarding privilege. As Vice President, I would never let anyone down. I care too much about
everything NHS stands for to let that happen. I am an advocate for change and I am an advocate
for service. I have a lot to contribute to NHS and I would be elated to have the opportunity to
share it.
Reema: Treasurer- Well, hello there. I am Reema Patel and I want to be your 2012 and if we
live that long, 2013, NHS Treasurer. Now I know a lot of people believe who you vote for wont
really impact your lives dramatically, but I want to change this misconception. If I am elected
treasurer, I will do anything and everything it takes to help you realize that your vote really
counted. Why would Reema make a good treasurer, you ask? Let me count the number of
reasons. Well for one, I have several ideas that would ensure the growth of NHS not just when it
comes to money, but as a club. I want to introduce new fundraising techniques and volunteering
opportunities in which all member of NHS come together. I also aim to increase the number of
NHS scholarships obtained by members because they deserve to be rewarded for their years of
exemplary scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The list goes on of my
accomplishments, just kidding, but I do want an endless list for the things we accomplish as a
club. If I am elected treasurer, I will dedicate myself to fight for the positive investment of your
money, just like Mr. Krabs. Every penny will be put to good use.

Roshani: President- Hello, my name is Roshani Desai. Some of you may now me and some of
you may not; I am currently running to be your 2012-2013 National Honors Society President. I
believe that service is an opportunity for us to help others and make a positive impact on our
community. Through a society encompassing 150 members, just imagine the magnitude at which
we can make a difference. As NHS President, I would like to create a sense of togetherness
within the society because unity will support the progression of our club. Since acceptance is
based on character, scholarship, service, and leadership, members of NHS are portrayed as role
models to others. We need to follow through and continually demonstrate these four tenants that
we represent. I want to offer members a variety of service opportunities so that they can find that
one activity which they absolutely love doing; once they find something that they love doing and
realize that it also benefits others, completing NHS hours will no longer seem a chore; it will
become effortless. "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life"
(Confucius). I, personally, have been an active member in clubs and organizations which require
dedication and leadership skills since my freshman year. Having previously served as Secretary
for the Student Advisory Council and Key Club, I feel that I have the skills and experience
necessary to successfully uphold this position. While the realist, pessimist, and optimist argue
over the glass of water, I will drink it and take this opportunity to make NHS a more enjoyable
environment for its members and to magnify the positive effect NHS members have on the
community in which they serve. If elected President, I will always fulfill my responsibilities and
duties to the best of my abilities. Vote for me, Roshani, as your President.

Jacqueline: Treasurer- My name is Jacqueline Busman and I want to be your NHS
Treasurer. If I were elected Treasurer, there are some minor changes Id like to make. I want to
try and find more volunteer opportunities so that the kids would have more options and possibly
find an activity that they wouldnt mind doing and do it just to help people (not just for the
hours). I hope to fundraise more money so that the group could try and go on a field trip
somewhere where we can really make a difference, like building a house for the abused (just a
quick school day trip). Lastly, Id want to increase awareness for other serious diseases or
conditions other than cancer that people suffer with everyday. Although cancer claims
millions of victims each year, collectively there are a lot of serious conditions that need support
for research. Id hope to possibly have each kid raise money and donate it to a different program
theyve learned about. Although these ideas seem a bit outlandish, they are possible, and with the
right kind of leadership NHS could become not only an honors program but a humanitarian one.
I think Im the best candidate for Treasurer because I can make real change; I dont want this
election to just be a popularity contest but rather a choice of the person wholl make the biggest
difference. Vote for me if you think I can make the biggest difference.
